NLT has amended the two articles in question and added a note in the first paragraph for clarity.

Guys, please do not throw away your old card or at least take note of it. And do not close your account with them if you guys are affected coz they won't have an account to return the funds to. I just called PayPal and they need the old card number to find the transaction/s. If you no longer have it, they will not be able to help. you would need to file the dispute with CIMB and I was told you are lucky to get an update after a month.

And also, it's got nothing to do with the CIMB Clicks website. It's just a diversion. It's the debit cards details that was compromised.

True, the debit cards info definitely compromised and leaked. Those are not linked to paypal have higher chance fallen prey into this incidents. It's just taking turns. Only go change or close account after paypal settles the issue and refund the money. Cimb still remain irresponsible in this issue.

i feel that for whatsoever reasons, if cimb reduce the pwd length they should let the user know instead of doing this nasty substring under the browser to make the user feel that their pwd is long and strong enough...

Got weird charges of foreign currency on lazada prepaid card that has not been used for some time.

Needed to call to block the card. Not sure how wide things are being affected currently.

so just want to check if we already change the password from 8 letter long to 20 letter long are we safe?

Or is it still better to just take out all money transfer to another bank?

The debit card info leaks is more serious. Ppl taking turn lose money. If you never link to paypal, the hacker will link and spend the money

Agreed I think the news about the hackers selling the card numbers are of concern. Problem is we do not know if it only affects debit / prepaid cards or also affects credit cards.

If it is from the tape backups then is it safe to assume that cards issued after November 2017 are safe.

If not then from when does the data leak occur. I think CIMB has all these info from the data loss and also from the slew of people affected. They can easily infer what is going on but they are not telling sad.gif

when we backup a database, All tables in database is included. Cimb obviously lied for stating selective data not in the backup tapes.

But better change password too, who knows the backup tapes got cimbclicks login info.
