Because of the news, I login check, lose RM49.04. No missing card, no TAC, no MSOS. The transfer can be made. Call paypal support found out both of my CIMB cards is linked to unknown paypal account holder. Requested permanent freeze at paypal and wait the missing money to be refunded from paypal. Waiting....

ps: cimb is not helping much, robot copy and paste to me only.

*
The transaction is listed in my cimb account on 6 dec 2018. I received suspicious sms my debit card was charged RM 52.32 in paypal on 4 dec 2018 but that day when i check, nothing is deducted in my account. As on today, I only login check and found RM49.04 was deducted on 6 dec 2018

*
yes, confirm is paypal cuz cimb transaction details got paypal info which I dun understand. Should happen on 4 dec but only deducted on 6 dec 2018. On 4 dec, I did check my cimb and nothing deducted that time so I thought is some scammer tactic to prank me to be panic.

I received this sms on 6 dec as well!!! Never ever use cimb debit card before
*
If you have a debit card you need to check your account constantly, the transaction activity update might not be immediate

So looks like there's a way to disable online transactions for the debit card? How do I do that?
*
doubt it will work, my cards are deactivated by default and the transaction still proceed without tac and msos

They can claim to fixit but I have withdrawn my money from atm and will change my bank. Also saw long lines at most Cimb ATMs.
The way cimb handled the whole issue is pathetic. Once a reputation is gone very hard for people to regain that trust.
*
they lost my trust too. not much money but the trust is no more there

Are you a victim? I've read pages and send that you are the only 1 with some form of proof so far. If this is true, /k will stand behind you.
*
yes, one of the victims here. I instant transfer the remaining amount to other bank, only left the minimum amount in the bank. Paypal permanent freeze my cimb cards and wait for their refund. They advise me change card after received their refund but I think i will close cimb acc for good. Trust is lost.

did u receive a trx statement from paypal with 4 pin code for account linkage?
*
I did not receive any card linkage sms or statement from the bank (check online) so the card linkage is done without my consent and knowledge. Because I have 2 cards, I manage to know both of my cards are linked to 2 malaysian paypal account holder怂

conclusion, 2 cards link, 1 card has transaction in paypal. resolution, permanent freeze both cards with my consent and even me cannot use that card in paypal.

Since most of the fraudulent transactions seem to have been made via PayPal, people should add their debit cards to PayPal if they haven't yet kena, because according to PayPal FAQ (https://www.paypal.com/ck/smarthelp/article/can-i-register-a-credit-card-on-more-than-one-paypal-account-faq1757):
So if you can't seem to add your card to a PayPal account then chances are your card has been compromised, go to bank and get it replaced ASAP.
*
that's true. if you find you are unable to register your card, chances are it already illegally registered in another paypal account.

Password issue and Paypal are two separate issues, stacked on top of each other

hackers don't need to go to cimbclicks to link your card info with an unknown paypal account
*
when linking debit/credit card, paypal will impose a min amount to ur acc together with 4 pin code. You either receive it from sms or online banking statement. The linking will only succeed once you key in the 4 pin sent by paypal. After that, paypal will refund the min amount imposed earlier. Failure to do so wont link your card to paypal. After a certain duration, PayPal will still refund the amount imposed even if card linking failed. My cards were linked without sms or transaction details from cimb.

I see. So, if the usual process is done, you would notified via SMS on your handphone. So, the hackers would be unable to link the CC to Paypal. In CIMB's case, this is bypassed? So, in case of a breach of your personal CC information on CC issued by CIMB, they can use your CC via Paypal.

And this without needing to get involved in CIMB Clicks at all. Meaning the CIMB Clicks saga is another issue altogether?

But how could the hackers get out money from CIMB Clicks even if they can hack inside? They still need the TAC code to transfer money if they're not using the Paypal loophole?
*
I confirm didn't receive sms or transaction detail from cimbclicks. Unless hacker can delete the transaction details or it just internal people doing this. I was shocked both my cards were linked in unknown paypal acc. They were atm cards until banks force us to change to mydebit paywave shit fiasco. Now the so called newer safer solution just lead to money missing in my acc.

Which makes me wonder... Does this mean that this loophole requires merely:
1. Your debit card number and CVV2; or

2. Hackers need to go into your CIMB Clicks account; or

3. A combination of 2 & 3.
*
no idea. Cimb denies the security breach altogether. My last suspect is internal staff 's doing which they can get the job done easily and clean

Bro, mind telling me whether CIMB refunded or you had to bear the loss... Scary.  rclxub.gif  cry.gif

Cimb says their CRU team is looking at the matter. Wait whole day no news. Comment on their fb, ignored. Only paypal helps me and say refund me in 10 days. I hv to constantly check my acc this few days. Both cimb cards also perma freezed in paypal. Nobody including me can ever use them in paypal. Once refund is done, gonna go close the cimb acc
