Some guys are missing the point here.. its not about u gaji 8k, u pinjam kena bayar..opkosla kena bayar sebab hutang maaa... even if ur gaji that time was only like 1k, hutang kena bayar laaa... but u bayar based on agreement la.. during that time u sign that agreement, pretty sure u know how much u kena pay when u got a job.. if u dont like it/think it is a burden to u, then dun sign.. but some (or i think all), just sign saja buta2 that agreement (am i rightt??)...

fast forward when u ady secured a job, u start to pay, based on agreement.. during my time is RM150 iinm.. that time gaji was like RM2k+ fresh grad gomen..

Fast forward when u naik gaji, naik pangkat, u ejas the amount of payment..make it higher la.. my case, RM280 pulak.. gaji around RM5k+ (this mthly amount ady calculated by ptptn). so i agree.. bcos i konpiden i can pay that amount without extra burden to my financial.. im pretty sure many borrowers oso liddis.. ejas to pay higher as long as it did not burden their financial..

then, tiba2 fast forward 2018, say if gaji 8k, opkos wanna revise higher..but have to factor in our burden as well.. before PH announce to cut 15% gaji for ptptn, opkos many ppl here ady plan of doing something else with that extra cash (gaji) that they got..they earned it what (naik pangkat bcos perform..its ur titik peluh).. some buy houses, upgrade car... that's bcos THEY DUN EVEN HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE.. fast forward 2-3 days ago, PH annouce bayar 15% from gaji.. smua terkejut beruk la.. b4 this tak cakap apa2 pun then suddenly announce nak potong that amount of gaji.. that's bcos most ppl ady planned what to do with their gaji b4 PH announce that!

Pretty sure if ppl know that much amount is going to be deducted once u got that much salary, not many ppl yg mau mintak naik pangkat or naik gaji.. as long as u gaji tak kena potong too much.. from RM280 per month, then tiba2 kena potong RM1200 per month..that's like more than 400% increase of monthly payment even tho ur gaji only raised less than 100%.. adil ka tu??

not bcos ppl got gaji tanak bayar loan, but its bcos ppl were caught off guard. been disciplined and be a good citizen paying loans without default and thinking that only got few years left to finish this loan.. then suddenly, kena byr lebih..that we never planned b4..

Its like, u beli axia mthly payment RM400.. ok we can do that mthly.. then suddenly wham!! bank suka2 decide to kasi naik my mthly payment to RM1600 per month. u think ppl will just accept that and start paying 1600pm?

i strongly feel that this new rules shud only applied to those stubborn@ss yang dah kerja but still belum pernah satu sen pun bayar loan.. those stubborn@ss shud the ones kena force bayar and punished for their stubbor-ness.. those who ady paid, ady signed agreement with ptptn b4 this.. its binded ady.. stamped.. how come PH can suka2 batal that agreement? not fair oooo

yup..but still, have to sign it..or pay one shot sampai habis.. which beats the point of getting a loan in the first place

It is a study loan with heavily subsidized interest rate

One should set priority to clear it ASAP

Almost no country in the world raise their base lending rate by 20000 basis points(200%) overnight.
*
And very few people earn up to 8k a month. The average PTPTN loaner will probably pay slightly more per month, which would be roughly the same impact as an increase in lending rates for a property owner.

You are raised not to handle debt well,  categorizing every single individual into one is an unfair judgment.

If you are in middle class, try to buy a comfortable house without bank loan in view you could not imagine holding onto a loan for so long.

I said debt to someone as in your siblings or friends. Not to some organization or bank for big purchase.

Is your whole family stupid or just you?

many ppl here do have priority of clearing it ASAP.. based on agreement signed previously.. for me, i still pay more than the amount of what ptptn monthly calculation shud be. that's bcos i really wanna kasi habis bayar sooner. some ppl have plan what to do with their mthly salary.. but doesnt include of sudden monthly payment of up to 400% from original.. dont get me wrong here, I'm all in with PH's idea of forcing ppl to pay their loan... that's the right thing to do.. but "punishing" those who has been so disciplined over the years servicing their loans by suddenly increase their mthly commitment... that's not acceptable..

I called PTPTN Careline 2 hours ago, this will apply to ALL borrowers, regardless if you are paying on schedule, already reschedule, or already use EPF to set of certain amount, or have credit balance. ALL previous arrangement will be ceased and deduction based on salary apply.
