it is not about boost only, but i have similar encounter with a merchant’s staff who treated ewallet as promotion card/app

recently i went to eggette lab mid valley to have the mobile buy 1 free 1 promotion. i saw TnG ewallet sticker at the counter. when i wanted to pay Rm8.60 for the item using TnG ewallet, the cashier immediately told me that promotion item must be paid by cash only. i told her ewallet is also considered one of the cash payment methods, but she argued that i cannot pay “ promotion with promotion ”. haha alright, i just paid with cash since there was a queue behind me. i passed her Rm100 note and she said she didnt have small change. i told her that’s the only cash i had, then she reluctantly changed the money for me.

The cashier face already turn dark, since amount only RM30+ and ppl queuing behind. He purposely speak loudly the amount like hinting 'it's only RM30 and pls pay by cash and there are ppl queuing ppl u wanted to pay' which make me feel embarrassed.

Ya know it's their fault and not yours, so why toletate?

Ah yes, the "know-it-all staff", which speaks on behalf of the company and thinks they know what they're talking about.

You call that selfish.
Go and read BigPay and PBB threads.

It won't be any faster when the cashier is the one who's dragging it, that's why I hate staffs like this...

I just wanna enjoy my meal and pay, why make it so hard for us customers?

In the end it's us who's listening to their commands.

Err... I guess you were referring to the SN4M promotion? It's not against the rules though so don't see how that's being selfish. sweat.gif

I think we Asians tend to avoid any confrontation as much as possible, especially when it involves holding a number of people up. Anyway, I wouldn't say that there's right or wrong in this kind of scenario but at the end of the day, just do what you think is the right thing & you're good to go.

Nothing to be embarrassed about when the less smart one is not you to begin with.
You have to make it clear it's their problem not yours even in front of the long queue. So that they can learn, not just every time facing this kind of scenario, and give in. They won't learn and always use the same excuses.
You want first world country, you have to educate and be first world citizen.

Last time bought FavePay cash voucher for Breadstory, then the balance tried to pay with FavePay, staff said cannot. Doesn't make sense to me too that time, I'm still paying the balance, why can't I use FavePay to pay.

I used Boost at Caring Pharmacy that day, staff showed unhappy face, long queue too. Actually the problem still lies with the integration/hw/ease of use. It's indeed quite troublesome actually, she used a separate device to scan, then I key in pw, then printed ticket from device, then key in the code into her cashier terminal, then cashier terminal printed another receipt. All in all few receipts printed, it's indeed very messy lor, they should make it much more seamless and easier for staffs. E-payment should be faster and more convenient, if it takes so long, staff and other customers also will be frustrated too

They were couple of times at Healthlane, where the Boost scanner failed to print the receipt. Without that, they unable to key in the code to their cashier terminal. So they were trying hard to find out how to reprint (the device really not friendly, I helped to to find it, quite hard too). Also, they have to manually select Boost as payment option too at the cashier terminal. It's really not friendly, but of course some integration really seamless

yeah, to make things simple, if merchants do not want us to use Boost, why bother advertising its availability? just make things easy and don't put any Boost stickers at all.

I thnk they want us to use, just they unable to control their staffs reaction/attitude.
As management (including Boost), they should also look into how to make things simple for everyone

then I hope those had face the problem would have given feedback to merchant manager and hq as well as boost rather than feeling embarassed by merchants' inefficiency.

It's not the merchant who doesn't want to, it's their employee.
