my 2 cents. just my experience working with vendor for maxis during project installing new base station equipment in 2013 and being working in telco field.

prior to to launch commercial launch of lte network, maxis and apple did a lot of testing on field tests to ensure the compatibility of iphone connecting to maxis lte network. same goes for other operators too. i believe that's the case now, all operator testing esim features fix all the bugs before launch for esim.

for those who can wait, just wait for the esim launch. for those who can't, it should be working, but possibly with bugs and have to wait for operator to fix it. can't complain if experience problem for now.

It is actually the Chinese who insisted that Apple specifically come up with a Dual Sim Iphone to cater for their markets which no one has ever done before in the history of Apple Iphones.

Seems like Apple can do no wrong still have to kowtow to Chinamen's Money Money Money.

Yup. Bring back the old pricing. Iphone last time were pretty cheap. I can remember the time before our pricing were not following singapore pricing and its cheaper to buy here rather than singapore. And of course that time the currency rate was much2 better

i believe the currency exchange is one of the cause of price going up . I remember when i bought my iPhone 7 128 GB 2 years ago it was rm 3600 .

Was waiting for the wide adoption as well. Cant wait for the esim to be available as my malaysia number is from digi, and i rely the number for tac as i need transfer fund to pay bill when roaming now.
Worry about the esim stability when its quite new and i think when this esim is widely used it will be more secure for people when roaming because the profile can be added again without going to the telco.

Btw, the cheapest package for backuptrans is for 3 devices. You can try to post on LYN to share cost with the others which is what I did earlier. There are people that still contact me now even thought I have changed it to sold out so I think it is pretty easy to find another two person to share

The old pricing is dead and buried bro. Tim Cook's Apple is not bothered about volume, they just want to sell at the highest prices possible to maximize profit. Hopefully this strategy will backfire sooner or later

Yeah, I think that's why eSIM isn't officially launched here yet - stability. Even though maxis has it now for the Huawei watch they are insisting that you don't use it for your iPhone, hahaha. It remains to be seen how long it will take before it finally takes off!
