One got risk, one no risk. So unless I got crystal ball, nobody can answer you which better.
If uncle really want variable price unit trust, do look at fsm thread.

nowadays buying private variable UT is like buying bursa stock...too many unit trust to choose from...thats why i still prefer Bursa compared to private UT...same effort required to choose the best UT/Stock..

so make it simple and straightforward:

- UT is mainly moderate/high risk, definately for long term minimum 5 yrs to able to see significant return...plus u need committed/experienced UT agent who good in adjusting portfolio whenever required..otherwise your UT might sink unnoticed...

- ASNB FP is low-risk and for people who expecting stable return. no need to depend to UT agent and no need checking price fluctiation...

conclusion...which is better is purely depending on your risk appetite...

Avoid public mutual at all cost. Best to go via FSM MY way.
Dividend in variable price fund is useless as is masuk left pocket, keluar right pocket.
More info can be found here FSM thread (first page). Returns depend on whether the fund is good or not. Got nothing to do with brand name.
Some bad fund give less than FD returns, some good funds give return 2x of ASNB.
Your choice, you call.

true..no need adviser actually...but most people who invest in UT don't have any idea how UT work...most UT agent just sell and run-away with their commission...very less UT agent are committed and advising their Client time-to-time genuinely...

many who invest UT from EPF, found after 3-5 yrs, UT return much lower than EPF...wasted 3% SC and wasted EPF compounding interest...worst is when the return is negative...

thats why, if u don't know about UT or have no time to read about UT...then a reliable UT agent is mandatory..otherwise better stick to FD or ASNB FP...peace of mind

about FSM i never tried and explore...will read..thx for link..

Best one got 10 years annualised return of 15%+ I think.

I bought one few years ago, year one +15%, year two +15%, year three +15%, year four -15%. If you do the math, the return is around the same as FP at the end...

For me, unit trust is a simple way to diversify investment on other countries, hedge against currency risk e.g. you invest in US fund, USD appreciate, you earn more ringgit.

Never ever buy from banks/agents. By buying from them you are giving them free 2-4% commision. But from
FSM MY
eunittrust

Both offer near zero % service charge.

For equity fund,
FSM is cheaper, and with wider range of funds, sales charge from 0.5 % till 1.75%.

Public bank only public mutual funds, 5.5% sales charge.

CIMB also got, good range of funds, with 2.5% sales charge (online top up) afaik.

Maybank 3.5% sales charge (online top up) if not mistaken, but limited choice of funds.

Others bank not sure. But buy via agents, normally 5.5% sales charge.

Invest via bank, if amount is really high, can help you get up to private banking services. Some people may want it as a status, some may want saving instead.
