seem like you need a van for that pax and luggage

didi from what i heard people say is cheap...how cheap i don't know
but i think what you should worry about is how to take didi or e-hailing at airport...the way they take e-hailing at airport is different
i think you should search video on tiktok showing how...where to go, what to ask the driver(ask for number)...if not you'll be confusing AF
better if you know how to speak chinese if not the driver will keep calling you and u don't know what to answer
*
QUOTE(Justmua @ Oct 12 2025, 09:12 AM)
All depends on what you prioritize for your party. And also what you have prepared for the trip.

DiDi is very affordable and you have to order one capable to fit all of you & luggage (or 2 Didis). Didi driver will likely call you when he can't find you among the crowd and if you do not have a local number, may incur some inconveniences.

Most hassle free would be to take airport transfer, but likely most expensive.

Most economical would be take the Metro, if your accomodation is near a station. Also depends on your parents fitness and walkability.

Hope it helps you to decide, but sorry for not a straight forward answer.

QUOTE(touristking @ Oct 12 2025, 05:01 PM)
Trip has the option to have the driver holding a card at arrival gate.  Select that. With parents, I would opt for this option.
*
Yea, just booked Medium Van airport transfer from Trip.com with the meet and greet option, though abit expensive than DiDi, but I think it would be convenient after a long flight. Thanks!

I've taken numerous trips with Didi from their airports. I don't understand how hard could it be.
Literally just go to the stops, either B1 or L2/L3 and wait.

wait for what?
the driver didn't try to call you or want to ask u to give u a number?

e-hailing in china airport is not 1 lane like our
they're parked at a numbered bay that u go to...and they will try to use every method possible to give u that number and u gotta go find that number

and this is especially hard for tourist that can't read or speak chinese
for chinese speaking people of course they don't realized/understand how hard could it be but they never stand at another person's standpoint to think before
even as someone who lives in a multicultural country

When at a new airport, with ehaul, you often have to find your way to some specific spot. Takes about 20 minutes.

When meet-and greet, it will take you 0 second to have some one to lead the way.

One is cheaper. The other is easier. So depends on one's need.

When travel to china, bring every debit and credit card you have because there is no such thing as a one card for all, your card or account will eventually got blocked and ask you to call the number behind your card
But Malaysians bank are inconsiderate and stupid to never thought that people can't call when they're overseas

And avoid roaming as much as possible in china because the app you're using is monitoring what IP address youre using and will kick you out of the app and block you and ask you to call their customer service

we're all using alipay international version

the problem isn't the app, it's our bank, financial institutions and the card
the thing is our card cannot be used to scan everything, our banks aren't used to such usage but in china, they basically use wechat/alipay to pay for everything, even small items
so gather enough transaction per day, your bank will block your card for unusual activity doh.gif and demanded you to call the number behind your card not knowing WE CAN'T

so always always have 2-3 backup cards attached on the app or use card with services where you can access their customer service via app/app chat/e-mail address

like i said, it's never about the app or what bank/what card u use

try scan 15-20+ transaction per day and see what happens tomorrow, suddenly you'll realize your card got blocked or being limited use
i also scan like 20 transaction on the 1st day, the next day i'm limited to 5 transaction a day and thn ultimately the bank block the card completely after i lodge a complaint with the bank

because i also understand that's not our our card works for the rest of the world, we only use it for meal and big priced items...max also 5 transaction per day
but not in china where everything is 1 transaction no matter how small the amount is.....so the transaction accumulates and the system will flag as unusual activity

at the end, i had to lodge a formal online complaint with BNM to get the card to unblock because the bank ignore me completely

don't bother
wechat is way way way more troublesome than alipay although i understand it has more function

until today i still can't register wechat....i went as far as buying a simcard with a number and thn wait until china only to register on the spot, still can't
still has a lot of procedure that i need local china friends to do it for me in order for the account to actually be made rclxub.gif
i tried to use my brother's wechat verification, still can't...i guess it really needs a local chinese help
and there is also a list of requirement for that person to verify you, not just any random chinese can do it

dianping and meituan's registration also best require a china IP address to register and to use...do not ever use a foreign IP like roaming while using those 2 app, it will suddenly log you out and suspend your account and ask you to call the number for verification

i don't think this is a specific bank problem
it's an internal safety system/alert that isn't publicly announced to prevent abuse

when we use our CC in normal world, we would never use it like we're in china but sadly that alert system is universal(they didn't create a separated alert guage specifically for china transaction)

that's why all this years even until today you've heard people's CC failing in china and advising people to always have secondary and third payment option incase first one failed and i found out why

Maybe we can inform the bank in advance before departure so they wont block the card

that the old style of doing it which doesn't work today anymore
because today's CC doesn't need to manually activate international usage like last time, it's 24/7/365 days allowed

and us informing them won't help since they can't disable that alarm for specifically you
all you can do is after they block it, you request them to unblock it but that's gonna be hard because they'll ask u to call the number behind the card not know you're on a foreign country where you can't call anybody
that's why i recommend getting and binding a card that you can reach CS via some app or online platform instead of needing to call

or just accept the fact that there is a high possibility it's gonna get blocked and have a secondary card binded as backup
