HI,

Like Bro wirelessbuyer said, you will need a fixed IP (not possible for your case) or use Dynamic DNS (this router only supports No-IP & DynDNS.
If you have other usage as well, subscribing for DynDNS is worth it.
Thanks.
*
Suggest No-IP for your customers is better, bro. It is cheaper, and doesn’t cost as much as DynDNS.

Yes Bro, it's cheaper.. just that I've been using DynDNS for many years & it has more hosts & propagation delay is almost instant. miss those days I got it at approx mYR30/year... haha
*
Haha, fair enough. No-IP has more hosts too recently, and their propagation delay is also much improved from last time. You can consider it.

Dear all,

Im experiencing these strange occurrences:

1) When I open Chrome to browse any page (especially the search bar in Chrome address bar), it takes more than 8-10 seconds to load any page that I key in. Sometimes even encounter "page time out" and I have to refresh then only it will load on 2nd or 3rd attempt.

2) Google Maps on Chrome lags and as I try to put the "man" on the map, the streetview just doesnt work. Sometimes to get directions (when key in 2 locations) also got issue and does not respond.

My desktop is wired to AC1200 router and currently on 500mbps (previously 100mbps package).
I would also like to note that my desktop connection is via IPCOM wall wireless access point. Product in page below:
https://www.ip-com.com.cn/en/product/AP265.html

My Chrome is always up to date.

Is there any 'advanced' setting that you guys use on the router to ensure fast loading of pages? Im assuming pages should load within 3 secs with 500mbps speeds. And im not talking about graphic intensive pages or websites from far away servers, mostly google search pages and Gmail.
*
If that is the product, then the max speed you can get is only 100Mbps as it only supports FE ports, which is up to 100Mbps. The AC1200 is also not an optimal router for 500Mbps, on wireless.

Disable IPv6 too. What antivirus are you using? That could affect it as well.

Anyone manage to use the TPLINK T4u to get >150mbps speed?
*
Yes, but you need a good router and be connected to 5GHz AC on 80MHz. I am using C3150 v2 and getting 250-300Mbps speed consistently two rooms away from the router, which is close to my max turbo speed of 300Mbps.

I can get 600mbps with Asus pce 68. But not my t4u. I am benchmarking via fast.com or speedtest.

May I know how are you getting 300mbps? I believe that from tplink GUI is not the actual throughput. Pls try it via fast.com test
*
Fast.com test, I am getting 200Mbps to 250Mbps on average. Is yours the V3 version?

I was previously on the 100Mbps package before the recent free upgrade to the 500Mbps package.

Still using the original hardware that TIME provided:
1) Huawei HG8250H GPON terminal
2) D-Link AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (300-867 Mbps) - the one that looks like a cylinder tower

This area is not really my forte, but I do know that with a 400% increase in speed, the current hardware setup may be obsolete and I'm not getting the most out of the 500 Mbps connection.

Is the current hardware sufficient?

If not, please give me some upgrade recommendations to fully utilize the 500 Mbps speed.... My home is a 1200sqft condo unit, mostly using 2 android tv boxes and a couple of mobile devices. May consider some smart home devices down the road.

Much appreciated!
*
Not sufficient. You have to get a better router. See here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658096

Or read green text on my signature.

QUOTE(pltan @ Nov 16 2018, 01:07 PM)
Ever since the speed upgrades, I have been noticing a lot of total connection loss to my condo.

Seems to happen more frequently at night, if I download a large file, then the connection will drop completely in my entire house, wired , wireless, different access points, totally gone.

Usually the connection will re-establish itself after 15-30 mins, occasionally if I reset the modem, it will reconnect quicker.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?  I am in Bangsar.
*
Try with a different better router. Sounds like your router hardware can't handle the processing of the download. You are using the TP-Link C1200 or the DIR-850L?

Yup. That's the model. Been noticing the problems too.
Around RM500ish should be fine if it's worth the upgrade. Mostly a few phones/tablets streaming stuff. Laptop occasionally downloading large files.
My tv boxes are china boxes, 2.4GHz only. How much difference is 2.4GHz at 100 Mbps vs 5GHz at 500 Mbps? May consider upgrading my boxes too if it's worth the 5GHz and 500 Mbps... I mainly watch sports, movies, tv series and youtube.
*
Read green text on my signature to learn more about 2.4GHz vs 5GHz. Huge difference of max speed between 2.4 and 5.

Looks like it is quite old and have reached its EOL, with Linksys no longer supporting it. Try with a different router.

Just change your router, bro. I recommend the Tenda AC18 or Archer C7 v5.

Anything that supports N will support MIMO. You want something that supports MU-MIMO, and the Deco M9 definitely does.

hi gurus,

i plan to subscribe time fibre 500mbps. according to their website, i will be getting TP-Link Archer C1200. Does it support dual band 2.4 / 5g. can it support 500mbps or more.
*
It does support dual band, but not 500Mbps on Wifi. Possible, but highly unlikely. Get your own router, or use wired connection.

Guys

I have recently just subscribed to TIME fibre 100mbps.
I noticed that I am only getting maximum 30mbps in my room.
I am using TP-Link AC1200 router and it is placed at the living room.

There is a smart TV and a wall in between my room and my router.
Can a WiFi extender solve my problem?
*
I think you are using 2.4GHz? You have to use 5GHz AC. If the 5GHz signal is bad in your room, time to change to another better router.

what is Mesh Wi-Fi Router? do you have photo?
TIME already installed TP-Link Archer C1200 router. You means to add additional router?

Saw this  TP-LINK AV1300 Gigabit Passthrough AV2 Powerline Adapter Starter Kit TL-PA8010PKIT which can transfer up to 1300Mbps. This one good? Why you said powerline is not reliable?

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...K4Iisu&search=1

I have 2 choice either to use TP-Link AV1300 TL-PA8010P or using Wifi receiver

TP-LINK AC1300 T4U (400Mpbs on the 2.4GHz band and 867Mbps on the 5GHz band)

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...49fbotIb8s&mp=3

or  TP-Link AC1900 T9UH (600Mpbs on 2.4GHz band or 1300Mbps on 5GHz band)

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...49fbotIb8s&mp=3

Can advise? thank you very much.. my current package is Time Fibre 500Mbps. Think of TP-Link AC1300 T4U  already enough since my current package max deliver up to 500Mbps?
*
Don't bother with powerline. Get the T9UH. Powerline is not reliable as it is very sensitive to fluctuations on the electrical wiring. If there are any interference or if your wiring is not done well, you won't get good speed and it can be worse than your current situation. The value on the box is just marketing.

QUOTE(FusionXY @ Feb 21 2019, 04:31 PM)
Hi, if you see up to 1300Mbps. In real life is different from this.
If you want to have full 500Mbps, get the T9UH as it is worth at its price.

SilentVampire Can you explain to him this. Why powerline is not reliable.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Noted.. Thanks  nod.gif
Noted for your advise  thumbup.gif

Last question.

I can connect to my computer either through T9UH or I saw another choice here through ethernet cable but using this wireless repeater with Gigabit Ethernet port acts as a wireless adapter to connect to my computer by using ethernet cable

TP-LINK AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender RE450 Wireless Repeater / Booster (3 Pin)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...49fbDj2RqD&mp=3

Which one better ya? sorry for so many question.
The purpose I want to use Ethernet cable because my current computer using USB2.0 port and afraid will lower down the speed if using T9UH.
*
Your speed will be limited then as it is only USB2.0. You will get whatever speed the repeater will be getting from the router wirelessly, and not gigabit speed, so don't be mistaken by thinking you can get full gigabit speed just by connecting through ethernet cable to the repeater. Your best option is still the T9UH, but you won't get the full 500Mbps.

By the way, you will need a router that can support 500Mbps speed over wifi. You current C1200 router won't be able to do that.
