Can you show how the aio/2 in 1 device look like?

So now Time no longer provide seperate ont and router for new installation 🤔
*
No, they don't anymore. The device is the Huawei Echolife HG8240h5. You can Google for the pictures of it.

HG8240h5 don't have built-in WiFi right? or they expect user to use their own ap for wireless connection.
*
Apologies, it should be HG8245V5, which has WiFi built in. However, it is crap and I would recommend that you ask the SI to call the provisioning team to configure it to bridge mode so that you can use your own router.

May I know,  Live chat & hotline  working period?  I need to ask for set up MY stock HG8145v5 become bridge mode add new router. Do I need to stay at Home , when they do  remote setup?
*
You don’t really need to stay home but it would be better if you are, so you can confirm everything works as intended. I’m assuming you want to configure your own router?

Hi everyone

I am changing to Time soon. Currently I am on Unifi and using ASUS AC86U for some time. May I know is ASUS AC86U can be used as a wifi router instead of using Time provided wifi router? If yes, any specific configuration needed? Thank you
*
Yes, you can use this as WiFi router instead of Time provided WiFi router. No specific configuration needed, except for your PPPoE username and password. Make sure to get the details from the installer. You must also ask if they can configure the provided modem router to bridge mode, so that you can use your own router.

Anyone received calls from Time to upgrade their 100Mbps to 300Mbps with an extra RM 10?

They are providing a Huawei WA8021V5 as a free upgrade with a 2-yr contract period.

Will the new router be a better version than the current TP Link EC230-G1?
*
You can upgrade if you want, but I would recommend switching to your own third-party router. Consider the new Asus AX routers.

Hi , I going apply 100mbps time, given Huawei HG8145V5 can support other brand mesh like deco m5?

saw in website "Must pair with Huawei WA8021V5 mesh node", this means Huawei HG8145V5 only support WA8021V5? to use deco M5 need one pair right?

or anyone can recommend better router than huawei?
*
You can use other brand as AP because HG8145V5 won't be compatible to M5, but I would recommend just switching to your own router. It depends on your budget and the size of your house.

ok thanks
currently using powerline, same 2 mesh meaning one connect to router and another put at other room right?

for 1200sqft condo, which model recommend?
*
Yes, one connect to router and the other put at another room.
For 1200sqft condo, and to get consistent WiFi signal, you can consider 3-pack Deco M5.
That should solve your issue.

QUOTE(mac94 @ Sep 28 2021, 04:04 PM)
the given Huawei HG8145V5 good enough ? or any model support for feature plan upgrade?
*
It is good enough if you are getting decent speed, and if you are happy with it.

having google DNS issue here too

is this only impacting TIME?
*
I think it is an issue with Google DNS. I have changed mine to Cloudflare.

Hi, thanks for the reply. AX56U seems like a good choice.
I have found the cause of the issue; the Huawei WA8025V5 was definitively not up to par in terms of network load. Maybe day-to-day activities it's an alright router. I like the compact size too.
I connected back the EC230 and the problem was resolved; I still would like to consider a new router.

Can I request for the SI on Self-care or is there a separate hotline for this?
*
It is very easy to do it yourself. You don’t really need TIME’s help for this. You just need your PPPoE username and password.

Hi there,

Just got my TIME broadband installed today and was provided with the Huawei HG8145V5 unit.. Previously I was a Unifi subscriber and I was able to plug my Asus router directly to my BTU.

However I notice now that the Huawei is 2-in-1 (BTU cum router). I would like to continue using back my Asus as the main router, any idea what's the best way to do it?

I can think of either setting my Asus in Access point mode, or disabling the router function in the Huawei unit (but im unsure how to do it).

Appreciate advise here...

Thanks!
*
Call TIME customer service and request for your Huawei BTU cum router to be placed in bridge mode. You can then use your ASUS router.
