I was informed by a Time agent that I could apply for a 600 Mbps plan at RM139, with the first six months free. After six months, I could request to downgrade the plan to 200 Mbps; however, the two-year contract would restart. I wonder if anyone has tried this.

Initially, I was thinking of subscribing to the 200 Mbps package and upgrading the router to Wi-Fi 7 (for better coverage), with an additional one-time payment of RM99.
*
i read the faq last time, yes, technically u can do the downgrade of plan immediately after 6 months, so one can take advantage of the 6 months discounted price then immediately after the end of it downgrade to save the monthly fee.

Still down as of now. Looks like no sign that it can be restored anytime soon.

No use, the place I stay, both 4G and 5G coverage are poor. So backup on this is not useful at all.

What went wrong tho. Fibre broken or what.
*
Dun know. No update given from them.

I contacted CS live chat to report the problem. The CS said they will sms me when there is update to the outage. But in the end also nothing. I only know the service is up by the messages from my apple homekit and my Linksys routers.

Totally no idea what happened that caused the service to be down and how it was fixed.

Currently I'm using Unifi and did not facing such long time issue like this. May consider for changes to Time.
*
I came from Unifi previously.

I am forced to use time bb due to no Unifi at the apartment I stay.

My experience can confirm that time bb has no significant benefits over Unifi expect that for lower speed plan e.g. 500Mbps plan and below, it has higher upload speed but to most users this is not something crucial since most do not need that kind of upload speed unless one is content creator.

And in terms of speed and latency, time bb to me has no advantage also.

In fact during peak hours, I cannot attain full speed of my 600Mbps at all, I believe it is due to shared bandwidth for all users staying in the same apartment. But Unifi I have no issue, I can attain full speed with low latency all the time.

And now Unifi has retention plan for users who have no contract which they can get 500Mbps at rm99 price per month which is absolutely better deal than time bb now.

So conclusion, time bb really has no advantage over other isps now.

westlife Sounds like your equipment issue as TIME always delivered full speed when doing speed test to local server
*
certainly not, my equipment can hit 600Mbps no issue for sure. It is the inconsistent speed by time at my apartment.

i suggest u download wifiman (assuming u use android) onto smartphone. then check ur wifi signal dbm. just because ur speed is good in one area, doesnt mean its the same in another. so try walk around and see ur results (both signal and the local speed test)

then also run openspeedtest self hosted
https://github.com/openspeedtest/Speed-Test
this can check whether ur wifi has any issues or not.
u say inconsistent. i would first suspect wifi signal not good, too much interference? or simply ur wifi thoroughput using that wifi ap is bad but u did not realize. Check that first.

Once u rule that out, then ok then check other things  hmm.gif
or u can skip all that and go straight to wired and see its improved or not. id still want to check wifi is not the issue if i were u since its something i actually use  smile.gif
*
i am testing in front of the main wifi router, previously i can get full speed, and now sometimes i can get full speed but not all the time.

suspect it is the bandwidth that is shared by too many residents during peak hours, so cannot hit the max speed.

wifi 5 has much higher bandwidth, and i dun believe, it is due to the wifi router issue as i can hit the max speed with no prob with the wifi 5 mesh router (tri-band) somemore.

Celcom using TIME for a while now. Celcom CGNAT is very bad. Lots of site limit their IP and causes issue.
*
I see I think I better stick to time then. Anyway celcom has no good offer comparing to time 200Mbps.

The public IP address from Time, is it fixed IP address that bind to our account? yesterday turn off the router for 1 minute and after that realize getting back the same public IP address.
*
There will be lease duration from the dhcp ip u get from isp for the public holiday.

It depends if the lease is renewed.

Did anyone try to downgrade? Their t&c on the footnote is sus hmm.gif
Meaning if I downgrade and contract will be reset for further 24 months, does this counted as 'renew plan'? I need to pay my remaining 18 months subscriptions?  sweat.gif
*
one can downgrade after 6th month of the contract.

ur contract will be renewed to 24 months (reset). u just pay monthly accordingly to ur monthly subscription for 24 months again.

and ur contract termination tnc will follow the new one - anytime u terminate u pay the remaining months of subscriptions in FULL - technically as good as no termination.

But why those signed-up after 15th April 2024 cannot downgrade? Only when I choose signed-up before 15th April 2024, only then I get the downgrade button from the live chat bot. It is better I follow them or just cheat (my subscription is already over 8 months).
*
Can downgrade but need to live chat with cs or call them u guess.

Their downgrade button appearance is not consistent I would say.

previous contract rm20 off per month expiring soon, called them to renew, they said the only available renew offer now is rm10 off per month for 12 months contract, is this the best offer? or retention team offers something better?
*
QUOTE(coolguy99 @ Jun 23 2025, 09:43 AM)
That is the same offer that I am getting too. Guess its standard across.

Same. Just checked on self care. Promo is valid from 8 Aug 2024 to 30 June 2025. What are they planning in July? Later take the promo but then not applicable for speed upgrade etc.
*
just want to switch to rm99 200Mbps no contract plan. Currently paying rm139 is a too expensive for an internet connection.

Monthly subscription:-

Time Malaysia 200Mbps RM92.22/month PAID
M1 Singapore 2,500Mbps S$29.90/month (RM98.67) PAID
Exchange: 3.30

Just for info only. "A Fistful of Dollars" made a BIG difference!

Indeed very cheap.

Last time I used StarHub 1Gbps plan also symmetric speed. That time sgd39.90 with one year contract. After that, switch to m1 500Mbps plan for sgd29.90. Now 2Gbps is already at this price. 🤪 lucky for anyone to stay in lion city.

But I would say that my experience with 1Gbps vs now at 600Mbps not much difference at all.

Would rather change to 200Mbps by paying the cheapest price at rm99 only soon in another less than 6 months time.

To be fair, the excess bandwidth to anyone likely not going to make any difference unless one really download stuff 24x7 but even 200Mbps speed is decent speed for most especially if the household only has 1 to 2 ppl.
