You are right.

At the two place, it is the lowest speed and BEST value plan. M1 do have the OLD 1Gbps but you have to pay more instead of less, but contract-free.

M1 Home Broadband $ per Month including 9% GST.

M1 1Gbps  $35.86(no contract)
M1 3Gbps  $32.16
M1 6Gbps $40.22
M1 10Gbps $55.48

For comparision, SIMBA 10Gbps  $32.69.

There are reports about the overheating of the NIC (with heatsink) for speed above 3Gbps. Mine with 2.5Gbps is OK sofar, no DC, no heat issues and low cost NIC both USB & Desk Top PC.
I would say this 2.5Gbps hit the sweet spot but it is not being offered currently.

ya. also saw that 3Gbps is the lowest plan now. The price is even cheaper during covid time which i susbcribed to for significantly higher speed.

good that lion city has super high base speed broadband now. think lion city is good to subscribe the cheapest plan with 24 contracts at the cheapest price possible then after contract ends just leave it contract free.

but luckily now all ISPs in bolehland has 100Mbps plan as minimum which is it not great speed but it is decent enough for any household actually for normal usage.

and time is rather better to start at 200Mbps symmetric plan which is certainly good enough for anyone.

ultimately, using the cheapest plan is one should go for unless $$ is not an issue la haha. tongue.gif

Just opted into their one year contract with RM10 rebate. Is there any better offer now?
*
what kind of offer is this? u are signing up new time broadband plan as brand new user, or ur contract is over and u are getting rm10 discount from them?

Basically my contract is over I got into a new one year contract with them.
*
Icic and with that they give rm10 discount per month based on the usual price.

Then ur this rm10 discount is it permanent or just for this 1 year?

If they offer me that for one year I think I will take it.

Same here, took up the offer and had my contract renewed for 1 year. Now I'm regretting it  cry.gif
*
regretting as in why? u get rm10 discount rite?

or u need to move place or terminate service so one year contract bothers u? tongue.gif

I was tempted by UniFi's migration offer, and a slightly lower speed isn't exactly an issue for me since I'm the only heavy user in the house. wink.gif
*
if ur house has unifi, i would recommend unifi over the time broadband especially now unifi has better deal than time. tongue.gif

called call centre and ask about any promotion for renewing contact for my 600mbps which is due on Sept 25 and they call back and offer this.

you need to ask them to submit the request to the retention or cancellation team because if it's the call centre team, they offer other discount. This is because after my own account, i wanted to downgrade my parents plan to 200mbps

I made a new call and the call centre team only offer RM 10 and RM 50 rebate for 6 months instead so i downgrade the plan to 200mbps and no contract.

Good luck

update : I just got the same offer for my uncle's account..  6 months free..  same method, need to submit request to retention / cancelation team to call back..
*
i am currently on 600Mbps plan but i dun want to remain in 600Mbps plan so even if they offer rebate i also do not want to renew, i want to downgrade to 200Mbps.

unless i am on now 600Mbps and contract ended time, they can offer me to downgrade to 200Mbps and again discount rm10 or something for 24 months, maybe i will consider. else remain at no contract also better......

Recently can never hit the full speed of 600Mbps plan.

Even use the router to directly do speedtest to internet also can confirm this.

So it is certainly not due to wifi issue.

Is it becos the apartment I stay has too many users so the speed is shared until I cannot get full speed?

I can always hit 600Mbps download, but upload has started to come down to around 300Mbps only.

Logged a case and was eventually told there is no issue.

Congestion issue too?
*
i think so. I have been experiencing this issues for many months already.

Lucky my landed still mostly TM users. But quite a few has changed to TIME since Day 1. There’s also 2 or 3 other users on the same splitter as me.
*
if have tm infra, better stick to unifi i would say, my past 8 years of experience with unifi has always been good. no issue at all.

now i have no choice but to use time becos no option.
to be frank, time is not very impressive overall compared to unifi.

I went from Unifi to TM Maxis to Time. Maxis and Time no problem, except for Time bad China routing and Maxis extra RM10 public ip. Only changed to Maxis because Unifi had useless Hypptv package and cannot remove.
Much happier with Time higher speed and cheaper price.

imo if don’t care about China sites, go Time. Else go Maxis. Unifi routing can be funny at times based on that thread.
*
Price for time at 200Mbps symmetric speed for rm99 is not bad. But overall experience is so so.

ic. i am also on 600Mbps. as other bro here recommend..
once contract over, i can convert to 200Mbps no contract first then request for termination to get the retention recontract offer.

i prefer to switch to 200Mbps to save rm40 monthly as 600Mbps is totally overkilled for my usage.

I renewed my contract. I managed to get free one month, 5 x Rm99, Rm139 thereafter. Plus free wifi 7 router. 24months contract. This is for 600/500 Mbps.
Reading previous posts here, I think if you can request for 6 months free then Rm139. No free router. Then it would be a better deal. Kinda regret I didn’t read here before I renewed  bangwall.gif
*
what about 200Mbps if renew 24 months contract, can get 6 months free also? if yes, will be really good.

guys, if I want to add another unit to my given Time Huawei HG8145B7N and set it up as a mesh node - how to do it huh? TIA
*
the given mesh wifi router is just a trash..

if u really want to buy one more unit to create the mesh, i would strongly discourage u to do so, unless u are doing wired backhaul and NOT wireless backbhaul.

Using dual-band mesh for wireless backhaul is the worst experience u can get.
