So if my contract left with just 2 month i still have to pay rm500 even though if i kept on paying itll just be rm400?

Hi Guys, got a question.
I subscribe to TIME 500 Mbps.
Using the default router AC1200.
but when i connect cat5e cable to the LAN, my speed is only +/- 100Mbps.
I called TIME service centre, they said they check there is no problem with the connection to my modem, and said they will reset their port.
I checked again after a day, and it is still aroudn 100Mbps with LAN.
What could be the problem?
Or i should just downgrade to 100Mbps, maybe it is just the hardware limitation?

There are currently some bugs on the current stock router, you could get your own router configured to make it better.

You may spend bit more and go for AC2600 D-Link DIR-882 afterall its price is just RM550 (subsidized) and includes onsite Installation with 3 years warranty.

if you dont need QoS, plenty of routers actually will do your needed speeds with hardware acceleration if the hardware acceleration supports PPPOE and VLANs. 2nd, look for a router that can do 500Mb/s of wifi. 2 channel wifi AC will easily do 300Mb/s, 3 channel can do more, 4 channel MU-MIMO even better for faster speeds but, they all require the clients to also have the same wifi. If your laptop only have 2 channel wifi AC, 300Mb/s+ is your practical speed, even if your router got 8 wifi channels.

Channel availability is another thing, not only what your location has around it, but what frequencies the router and your PC can use.

If you need QoS, i suggest a different router and wifi combo.

I wish i had time where i am, TM treats us very very badly. I live in high rise too. However it would be nice if TIME could spread to homes too, and they actually have. Someone mentioned before that they werent allowed too but they've actually had landed lines for very very long.

Most of the times I boot up my new router TPLink C1200 given by TIME, it won't goes online. The world/earth icon just remain orange.

Until I reboot it again, is this a defected router?

The Auto feature is a bit buggy... if you have already upgraded to the latest firmware (20180502 rel.45702 (official), change the setting to Manual, and change the Max. Idle Time to 0.

when u said there are bugs on current router do u mean the DIR 850L? what about the Huawei decoder?

would the Link DIR-882 be better?

Im using TIME 500mbps, on 5ghz wifi connection to my phone with the stock router (TP-LINK Archer 1200) I only can get around 230mbps. If i upgrade my router to TP-LINK Archer C9, will it increase the wifi speed on 5ghz ?
