Off Topic - If you guys knew what you had to endure these problems, do you think you regretted buying XBOX360 back then? I'm just curious, if you have the chance to go back, would you choose PS3 instead?

XBOX360 is a fine machine to me, but to invest so much in a machine that is easily prone to 3ROD....haizz, really makes you wanna think twice.

Thx for the honest reply Djinn. Next time I'm thinking of purchasing a next-gen console, I'll be sure to visit your shop bro.

off topic

my answer's the same as djinn. in fact, i was fully aware of the 3rod problem and how widespread it was when i bought my 360.

It's all bout the games. There are just so many good titles that are easily available for the 360.

back to topic:

Digitral, it doesn't matter whether you play ori or 'local' games.

the 3ROD is simply a manufacturing defect that affects the majority of 360 consoles.

Doesn't matter whether you play it for 24 hours or 2.4 hours. Leave it vertical, or horizontal. Or even if there's a fan blowing at it or not.

What we've seen so far, and based on my personal experience, the 3ROD will strike you without bias.

Even the latest revision of the 360 console with the smaller die and revised heatsinks still have 3ROD cases (although admittedly less cases).

At the end of the day, be a gamer and just play. Don't worry too much bout the 3ROD.

We've got ppl like Djinn, who will honestly help you with any problems. And any one of us in this forum will be more than glad to help and do our best to fix your 360 console. You can even just refer to my guide and fix it yourself.

Just play.

Greetings Gurdian,Djinn, Virgil and all the hardcore gamers. I agree with Djinn, its about what game you really wish to play on that console that made you purchase it in the first place. Shame on Microsoft to have such low quality components on their Xbox.

I have a few question though:
1. Will these o/heating, 3ROD, and other manufacturer`s defects continue to strike, even with the new improvement Microsoft has done on their Xbox ( the one with HDMI output, and newer heatsink). I check a few retailers who sold Xbox, and they claimed newer version of Xbox will greatly reduce these problems.

2. If they do persist, what is the probbilty these problems will ocur on every 100 Xbox in Malaysia.

3. What about the Xbox Elite version, will it be better ?

I wish everyone can share this with me, esspecially all the game console`s surgeons and gamers who read this. I know I`m writing on the right place, where all the opinions are not bias and sincere. Or else, it will be wiser for me to get a Playstation 3 instead, coz could play some Xbox title on PC.

Many respects and gratitudes, peace.

Well, I have bought my 360 for less than a year (another week it will be 1 year old) and it had 3ROD twice! And yes, I am aware of the problem when I purchase my 360. I can honestly tell you that my 360 has given me probably the gaming experience since the PS1 era. I have met quite a few friends on LIVE and we have actually become very close now. We play all the great games together, discuss about them, laugh together when get pwned playing GoW and in the end burnt a big hole in our wallets buying all the great games. This I can honestly tell you that you cant get the same experience from the PS3 (Hey, I'm probably the biggest Sony fanboy you ever know).

I'll buy a new box straight away if my current one completely die on me even though Falcon set may still subject to 3ROD failure, thank you Xbox LIVE!

Slightly offtopic but I feel creating a new topic would just be pointless:
What is the normal charges to repair 3ROD on an Xbox 360?

1. The new version had reduce the problem but was never meant to solve. It was only meant to reduce and therefore the problem is still there. IF M$ wanted to solve the problem for good, they have to redesign the whole Xbox 360. M$ was so eager to beat Sony, they have forgot to put in TQM ( Total Qualty Management ) into their product.

People still buy Xbox 360 due to the variety of games and good game compare to PS3. M$ had beat Sony in the run, but lost in the quality of the product.

2. It depends on the various conditon. When it comes, you just have to face the fact that it will come. If you are able to survive for 1 year, you are good enough already.

3. The first Elite batch was to solve the 3rod problem. But the 3rod problem still occurs. Today version makes no different unless you want the extra HDD space, HDMI output and the design colour.

there is no facts that the 3 ROD is eliminated.

reason Microsoft had release the Falcon around November. But in the end one of our forumer (samurai20) had suffered the 3 ROD (which he just bought it just reasonly)

in fact I'm guess even the jasper or the latest vahalla will still be prone of the 3 ROD (unless they redesign the whole motherboard)

vahalla is combine CPU and GPU. It maybe better and able to solve the heat OR maybe 3rod even more faster since 2x the 3rod chance....MUHAHAHA....... brows.gif

let see hows the race going to go.

can't wait to see the jasper and vahalla.

but really don't get it why they would think CPU and GPU combine is a good recommendation ?

maybe the mobo and parts (resistor) can stand more heat for vahalla ?

The new falcon defect rate so far is sub 10%. It sucks that maybe MS wants to cut taxes by NOT using lead solder. With lead solder I think the most of the rrod prob can be solved.

not really 10 percent lo. actual figure is higher then that, they just didn't announce it correctly only.

indeed their failure rate is much lesser then the Xenon motherboard.

as for the lead solder is not really totally the soldering problem. it could be something else.

soldering crack consider common problem but that is not prone for the major problem for the 3 RROD.
