Just revived mine. I cut 2 of my finger just by removing the whole casing ( damn, I haven even started yet ). I was short of 1 nylon washer ( I think that b******* miscalculate 1 washer ) and I also end up using M6 ( m5 out of stock WTF ? ). 1 of the back I had to combine 2 steel washer just to get the same size as the nylon washer. Hope it doesn't break.

But after put everything back, I still got 3 rod then became 2 rod. I lost all my hope and try the final solution and pray that it works

Ts, if you don't mind adding this guide. I was actually reading 3 different guides on how to do x-clamp tongue.gif

There little trick. You need to overheat the GPU.
There is one major flaw with this approach. The thermosistor for the overheating protection of the 360 is contained within the CPU. So the problem is that the CPU overheats without any airflow before the GPU is able to get sufficiently hot to "reflow" the BGA solder connection.

In order to cool the CPU but not the GPU it is again important to have your fan shroud removed. Now take your fan that IS plugged in and lay it on top of your DVD drive with one of the fan's over the top of the CPU. This will keep the CPU plenty cool to prevent it from overheating while the GPU.

Power up the console and let it run for 10-15 minit with 3rod WITH FAN BLOWING TO THE CPU. MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T GOES TO 2ROD. IF YOU NEED A BIGGER FAN TO BLOW THE CPU, THEN USE A NORMAL FAN. After 10-15 minit, off the console and let everything cooldown. Just put back as ts said for temporary and pray it works.

I did this way and i revive my console.

after a month of constant playing the console, report back if your 360 is free from 3rod. a bit scary, since you cook it for such long period, scared the GPU almost die..

No. The MASTER Rezalid said you must have to do this way in order to revive most of the time.. He went to 2rod for 2 minit just to overheat the GPU.

If you check out other guide from Xbox scene or others, they will also suggest this method.

Greetings Gurdian,Djinn, Virgil and all the hardcore gamers. I agree with Djinn, its about what game you really wish to play on that console that made you purchase it in the first place. Shame on Microsoft to have such low quality components on their Xbox.

I have a few question though:
1. Will these o/heating, 3ROD, and other manufacturer`s defects continue to strike, even with the new improvement Microsoft has done on their Xbox ( the one with HDMI output, and newer heatsink). I check a few retailers who sold Xbox, and they claimed newer version of Xbox will greatly reduce these problems.

2. If they do persist, what is the probbilty these problems will ocur on every 100 Xbox in Malaysia.

3. What about the Xbox Elite version, will it be better ?

I wish everyone can share this with me, esspecially all the game console`s surgeons and gamers who read this. I know I`m writing on the right place, where all the opinions are not bias and sincere. Or else, it will be wiser for me to get a Playstation 3 instead, coz could play some Xbox title on PC.

Many respects and gratitudes, peace.

1. The new version had reduce the problem but was never meant to solve. It was only meant to reduce and therefore the problem is still there. IF M$ wanted to solve the problem for good, they have to redesign the whole Xbox 360. M$ was so eager to beat Sony, they have forgot to put in TQM ( Total Qualty Management ) into their product.

People still buy Xbox 360 due to the variety of games and good game compare to PS3. M$ had beat Sony in the run, but lost in the quality of the product.

2. It depends on the various conditon. When it comes, you just have to face the fact that it will come. If you are able to survive for 1 year, you are good enough already.

3. The first Elite batch was to solve the 3rod problem. But the 3rod problem still occurs. Today version makes no different unless you want the extra HDD space, HDMI output and the design colour.

there is no facts that the 3 ROD is eliminated.

reason Microsoft had release the Falcon around November. But in the end one of our forumer (samurai20) had suffered the 3 ROD (which he just bought it just reasonly)

in fact I'm guess even the jasper or the latest vahalla will still be prone of the 3 ROD (unless they redesign the whole motherboard)

vahalla is combine CPU and GPU. It maybe better and able to solve the heat OR maybe 3rod even more faster since 2x the 3rod chance....MUHAHAHA....... brows.gif
