yaloh.. you are adjusting the black screws.

special stage washer ? wah.. how special ? see see!! laugh.gif

u need 2 washer for each screw below the mobo. It will ngam ngam with the mobo and zinc plate. No need to tighten the black screw, if not it will bend ur mobo.

i kinda konfuse here,as im not an electronic stuff guy.
why do u need to do the o/heating trick to melt the gpu/cpu solder connection?
is it just because to ensure the thermal paste thermally in contact with the heatsinks? wink.gif

the GPU got "cold joints" so you need the trick to "melt it" to make it contact to the motherboard.

but if the joints cacat, no matter how many times you "overcook" you still won't be able to revive it.

you can exchange the mobo (if the technician have spare) and as well as the technician must now "the key" (the drive firmware) and match it back on your mobo.

Hey SinaranX, I'm putting up the reply to ur PM here so in case someone else has the same questions as you, they'd have a reference:

QUOTE
first of all nice guide you put up.

I am interested in doing it myself but I wanted to know if I just do the nylon washer part without actually wiping off the thermal. Would that be ok?Thanks~~

it's not really advisable.

the thermal gunk that M$ uses is of inferior quality. Although it isn't the sole cause of the 3ROD in the first place, it's always good practice to clean off the mess and put in a fresh layer of good quality thermal paste.

which heatsink is hot ? CPU or GPU ? Hot is ok~.. but Cooking Hot is not really a good thing.
