Get a SSD. If you want more storage then get another HDD or bigger SSD (not all models have 2.5 inch+M.2 combo)

Go for i5 8th gen

RAM must at least 8GB, if got dual channel better (not all models have 2 RAM slots)

What do you mean by dummy hard drive?
*
TQ for reply

On the website it state Hard Drive : Dummy Hard Disk Drive
https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/thinkp...0/p/22TP2TEE580

2.5 inch+M.2 combo is for Bigger SSD or for Second Hard disk?

Dummy disk drive probably means hard disk bay and cable are included

My suggestion is to get 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD. Then upgrade RAM and SSD by yourself. Remember to opt for 3 yr warranty

processor: i3 or ryzen 3
storage: m2 nvme ssd or mixed or upgradable to m2 nvme ssd
ram: at least 4gb

so far i only can get this:
https://shopee.com.my/HP-14-ck0124TU-Laptop...6827.1694799209

but only one model i can choose?
how to check if the laptop is upgradable to m2 nvme ssd?

I'm wondering if this come with backlit keyboard? Can't find the keyboard spec inside the tech specs. But I suspect not.

Around 8 hrs I think

CPU performance is about the same for i5-8250U and i5-8265U especially in multi core performance. The problem is, T490 is not like business laptop, more towards Ultrabook. No more removable battery, slimmer+lighter, has 1 soldered RAM. I prefer T480 more. E series is consumer grade, not a 'true' business laptop

Prices of older models aldy cheaper in their website

Thank you again for such informative reply. I learn so much in this forum.

QUOTE(prasys @ Apr 27 2019, 02:19 PM)
Umm for that price it is okay , nothing much to shout about ....later you can buy a monitor and just get 100% sRGB..for student work , if you are learning designing , it should be fine
Thinkpad have boring design , over the years it has not evolved much except now they make in grey colour and carbon fibre...apart from that it just's boring....
T480 is legendary. You can upgrade the battery , the RAM , HDD , even add WLAN card....I say just go pick and get it

The extra money you can upgrade , T-series are known for their durability....

I'm actually fine with the design however I'm more concerned of the display (sRGB). But again its a business laptop, not multimedia. After all this laptop is intended for a lot of office related task and web browsing.

It would be nice to experience the display or maybe testing some similar display laptop.

Tq for your suggestion.

and for the reply "4GB RAM and 500GB HDD. Then upgrade RAM and SSD by yourself" if can upgrade one will choose this first, but this propose is to save cost right?

And

To fulfill the requirement (models have 2.5 inch+M.2 combo) , ( models have 2 RAM slots) , the below your previous suggestion laptops also got right?
Lenovo Thinkpad E490, E590, E490s, E480, E580 customize - opt for 3 yr warranty upgrade
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 14 81EU00NRMJ/ SMJ/ TMJ/ UMJ
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-55JD / 57FD / 59T5 +RAM
Lenovo Yoga 520 81C80016MJ / 17MJ +RAM
Lenovo Ideapad 320s-14IKBR 81BN0071MJ / 81BN0072MJ +RAM+SSD

Yes, the upgrades in Lenovo website are too expensive

E490s and 530s 14 don't have 2.5 inch bay. 530s 14, Yoga 520 and 320s 14 don't have 2 RAM slots, SF314-54 only has 1 RAM slot but has another soldered RAM (dual channel is possible)

Not opting for expensive lappy tho.

sRGB , then you would need to opt for the higher Adobe Display , I think it's for X1 Carbon/Extreme Series if you really need the fine display for creative stuff

Need a new laptop after motherboard died.

1. Budget : 2000-3200
2. Usage : Streaming, movie, small office work, casual gaming

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : 14", i5 minimum, 8GB ram, 500Gb HDD minimum, or with SSD is a plus, Nvida graphic maybe

Any reccomendation with those specs?
Thank you
