My brother is looking for a new laptop.
His requirement are:
1. 15.6 inch (prefer to have good SRGB display)
2. Lightweight (< 2.3kg, the lighter the better)
3. At least 8GB RAM (Must be RAM upgradable - will upgrade another 8GB in future)
4. i7 processor (for Building Analysis & Modelling Software, AutoCAD)
5. Prefer to have SSD
6. Must have dedicated graphic card (light gaming)
7. Battery life (at least 2 to 3 hours)

Budget is < RM4.5k
*
Illegear Onyx Lite (TongFang GK5CN5Z)
Lenovo Legion Y530 (81FV00M8MJ) or customize

So you don't mind poor battery life? FYI, many Ultrabook / regular laptop with high sRGB display don't have upgradable RAM

If just need the ram to be upgradable… any good choice? I saw the Acer swift series quite nice…

define cheapest?

Give an absolute max budget. Also, any reason on why you need NVMe M.2?

Around RM2.5k, lightweight and come with NVMe M.2 slot. (for hdd upgrading to NVME card later)

Just want to have faster boot only and use it for office work.

FYI most users will be fine with a good SATA SSD

Can consider Ideapad 320s-14IKBR +RAM+SSD (1 RAM slot only, only support NVMe M.2)

Yes normal SSD SATA speeds are damn good already , windows loads instantly , apps loads instantly

You may not need the insane speed unless you are doing heavy workloads or just a serious gamer that wants fast fast fast

Helios 300, cooling issue (possibly can be solved via undervolt+repaste but not sure)

Helios 500 also, but that one is still buyable

Build quality , but to be honest - if it's cheap just grab it and go for it. It's like buying a car , people may complain tons but if you like it - go for it....personally i find the helios 300 affordable for people looking at entry level gaming laptop.

My brother own one Acer Aspire E14 2017 model. My company also providing me with Acer Aspire E 14. It's give good performance, however I'm trying other model also.

Preferred max weight in kg and min battery life in hours? Preferred display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?
*
Preferred weight is less than 2kg. Battery life min 4 hours. Display size 14" would be a good, usually I hook up to monitor. I don't mind low sRGB. RAM min 8GB since my work require a lot of RAM and CPU usage.

It's fine , again budget gaming laptop. ZM Fong has his views , mine is more like if it's going to be on a desk and you are connecting to a monitor and external keyboard. It's pretty fine

Look at Thinkpad series anyway , if you want something that can last pretty long and you can upgrade.....RM 3123...

i5 , 8GB of RAM , you can replace the RAM later , these aren't soldered. Or you can opt for one 8GB stick and buy another one to upgrade it....It's 14" at 1080p
