1. Budget : 3k
2. Usage  : travel and casual surfing. some time will do some casual gaming on nostalgic game like NFSU2 and NFSMW
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : 14in. lightweight, prefer to have dGPU...

any good recomendation? Is Intel 620 a good GPU? Never follow up on computer specs recently

I'll let ZM to give some recommendations before giving mine.

I'll answer your other question - Intel 620 is a okay card , when I say okay is basically you can run games which are 5-6 years old game in decent settings . You can't run latest games unless it's super low resolution + mods. But Intel HD graphics has gone a long way.

Personally it can handle modern games like overwatch , world of warcraft and few other light gaming that is optimised...

So yeah Intel HD 620 can help you to play those old NFS games at a pretty high settings

Any preference on battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?

Where did you find such low price?

Has low sRGB 60Hz IPS. Otherwise good model. RAM upgrade to dual channel is recommended

At lazada birthday sales during yesterday. From eit store. The price is rm4550 yesterday, and additional store voucher rm300, so final price at rm4250. Check again this morning, the price become rm5088. I already place the order yesterday, but haven't make payment, still thinking wanna to take it or not. Looking at yesterday and today price, it make me wonder that nowadays the profit margin for selling pc\laptop can be still so high?

Hi Guy,

I have been evaluating a few laptop below. Which is the best bang for buck.
My budget is max RM2,500, can stretch a little bit to RM3,000.
Usage mostly for work which include running Lighting Simulation Softwate (DIALUX), ETAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Power Point.
Light gaming on steam and watching movies on weekend.
I prefer light weight laptop easy to carry and have option to have additional SSD drive

So you don't mind poor battery life? FYI, many Ultrabook / regular laptop with high sRGB display don't have upgradable RAM

My friend is looking for a laptop

Just 4 requirements:
* Touchscreen
* 1080 screen
* pretty good size at least 12 inch
* 99th percentile in terms of battery life (relative to the cost of the laptop)

He wants to spend the bare minimum.
He will reluctantly spend 3K but if possible any laptop that fits those 4 criteria is a win already.

Everything else, he doesn't care about.

It's a Clevo N850 which isn't that great

Since you prefer regular laptop more, here are the good models with MX150 GPU:
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 14 81EU00NRMJ / NSMJ / NTMJ / NUMJ
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8 / 59WJ +RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF315-51G-55UH / 56T6 - non-upgradable RAM
Acer Aspire 5 A615-51G-53QF +RAM+SSD - 1 yr warranty only
HP Pavilion 15-CS0033TX / 15-CS1026TX +RAM+SSD - short battery life

In case you want gaming laptop, you can refer to my gaming laptop list (note that prices aren't up to date)

I have made up my mind to choose between this two. Which one would you guys choose?

1)ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 S530U-NBQ328T
2)HP Pavilion 15-CS1026TX

Both aren't the best models, moreover they have their own pros and cons

If I were to choose, I'll go for Pavilion 15-cs due to better onsite warranty. Also cheaper even with RAM+SSD upgrades

Both don't matter to him.

For usage, portable work laptop.
I'd rather not say what he does exactly, but whatever it is it doesn't matter what kinda power the laptop packs.

Illegear Raven. A few quirks but otherwise great.
However if you want good SRGB display, you have to wait until 144Hz refresh rate option is restocked.
