QUOTE(blacktubi @ Sep 17 2018, 05:08 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Troubleshooting• Equipment VerificationBefore your continue, make sure that all your equipments can readily support speed your desired speed. Refer to post #2 or ask! Make sure you use a CAT5E and above Ethernet wiring for ALL connections and that include from BTU to router. • Wired Isolated TestingAs we said above, wireless is very uncertain so to better trace the issue, we have to test using a wired connection. Perform a speedtest with a local Malaysia server on speedtest.net and see what is the speed. If your speed peak at <100Mbps, perform the Gigabit Ethernet Test. If your speed is more than 100Mbps and less than your ideal speed. It may be an issue with either TM or your wireless router unable to support that fast speed. • Gigabit Ethernet VerificationBefore you start, check that your computer and router support Gigabit Ethernet by referring to the specs sheet. Make sure you use a CAT5E cable or better. You can download this simple batch file to check your Gigabit link speed. 100000000 = 100Mbps 10000000000 = Gigabit » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Connect your computer to your router and run the file to see see if the ports are Gigabit capable and repeat it with your BTU modem. If you do not get Gigabit speed but your equipment is Gigabit capable, check your wire and rerun the test with another computer and Ethernet cable. If your BTU is confirmed to be a Gigabit capable BTU, contact your ISP as they may have configured it wrongly. What about WiFi speed?Read post #4 I believe for Gigabit is only 1 billion. 1,000,000,000 coz I got confuse a bit when check my cables is faster than 100Mbps but slower than 1Gbps

Can you make sure you use at least CAT5E

For USB wireless adapter, get the TP-Link T9UH. This post has been edited by SilentVampire: Sep 23 2018, 12:45 PM

my unifi had been upgraded from 30mbps to 300mbps, I had upgraded my router to gigabyte router ( prolink PRC3801 and the TPLINK archer C1200, i redo my back bone from main router to room router using LAN cable cat 6, ( I had two tplink power adapater 1300 mbps for sales , few month old only)
Speed with cable and gigabyte lan can to to max 300mbps,With my latest P20 pro i can get close to 290mbps when less then a meter within the router at 5 G , if i stand within 3-5 meter the speed drop to 100mbps....
Still aplenty , on 2.4G wirless max out about 90mbps... so to get max 300 is almost impossible if you not connected with LAN cat 6 cable or less then a meter.
Anyway 100mbps per device is good enough

QUOTE(BlackJackE3 @ Sep 20 2018, 09:13 AM) Alright, thanks for the info will try to factory reset my router tonight So did you get better speed after factory resetting your router? I got upgraded to 500 Mbps but can't seem to get more than 100 Mbps both on WIFI and LAN. Both router and PC LAN port already set to 1000Mbps.

I am simple user with 4 user at home, total not more then 10 device connected at any time. I have TM RM129 100Mbps speed package and I have 3 router at home: - 1) Dlink dir842 - TM provided set. 2) Tplink Archer C7 V4. 3) Tmobile AC1900 flash with AsusWRT latest FW.
I tested all 3 and they all have very similar performance on both 2.4G and 5G Wifi, speed as well as range.
My question is how do i test which is better router to be put to use with my 100Mbps line. please help.

But, of all routers above, I would use the AC1900 T mobile version or the Archer C7 v4 as a backup.

Will get a Cat 6 cable tomorrow and try connecting directly to BTU as well. Even if it's a cable issue, with the default router DIR-850L, I should be able to get more than 100Mbps on wifi which I don't. My concern is that the BTU might be configured incorrectly, which means no way around it but to wait for TM tech to come over.
