Bite stopper is basically a hard clay to stick it at either ur upper or lower jaw to prevent ur upper and lower from hitting the brackets.

I think not everyone need it. Doctor did it for me but i crushed it when i sleep and when i eat. But after getting it checked, doctor says i dont need it anyway.

with this bite stopper, ur upper and lower wont get to touch each other at all. Cos it creates space in between. That is why many of us find it hard to eat with the bite stopper.

I've been wearing braces for 14 weeks now. And i see major improvement... seriously. Unfortunately i dont hv my pictures files now, or else i an upload it t show you. But actually i did upload pictures before... U try to back track this thread? smile.gif Edit: You may check post number #398 & #519
But my condition now are even better than when those pictures were taken. laugh.gif

I shy to tell my age la... Just very old compared to many of you la... icon_idea.gif

Leng_leng,
Dont angry k? hahaha actually me too... now i think back how i went through horrible teenage years. Ppl will make fun of my horrible teeth. That's really awkful. And i actually am very self-conscious with my look particularly my teeth. Just that financially me and my family could not allowed me to go for braces.

There was once in my secondary years, i was just walking on the street with a friend. Then some bastards came from behind and whispered something to each other " leng lui....eh...got leng lui"... then when they passed us, they shouted "wah, one fat one, one buck teeth wan"... SERIOUSLY.... That is a very very awkful feeling.

Three times in my life, i seriously consider of getting braces. Once was in secondary school, financial is one factor to stop me from the plan. Another factor, i was childish, i tot i would rather not look like ugly betty in college.

Second time, when i finish college. Again Financial is the main factor. Another reason, i'm afraid that i'll scare off all employers with my braces. As it wont look presentable.

Third time, i finally got it done. Financial problem is not a problem anymore. Not that i'm earning good. But i figure out the time that i've wasted and i would rather be ugly for 2 years than my whole life. (i mentioned b4 blush.gif )

Sigh...i guess leng_leng would understand my bad experience if u claimed that your condition are worse than me. sad.gif
But dont worry girl, now that we've taken our first step to wear braces. We're brave to do that at our age. (also, if u claim that you're older)....hahahaha

PS: how come we are like compare who is older and who is more serious case wan? laugh.gif laugh.gif

I think the reason for us to wear braces and fix the teeth have common reason for most of us.. we all have kind of similar story..financial issue and can't do it at young stage.. been become ppl chat topic due to ugly during school times.. I already use to it when ppl mentioned my teeth after many year..it almost get used to it.. till this time..before i geting brace..the year..I think is year 2007.. i start a new relationship with a gal.. her parent was comment on my teeth again.. and my body thin.. those word was hurted me a lot..so, i decide to fix the teeth, even though i have financial commitment issue on other stuff.. anyhow, we still break out due to her hugh aiming on the realistic stuff..

But i still glad that i step out and wear the braces biggrin.gif my teeth is better now.. and i gain the confident better than last time smile.gif

Sorry, a bit out of braces topic.tongue.gif just express my feel saja..

Tap on Kentcp's shouder. Also tap on leng leng's shoulder... blush.gif
Actually i had a broken relationship this year too. Then i stood up and swear that i want to look beautiful. So i started on research about braces. Meanwhile my bf came back to me and asked for a patch back. i accepted him back. But that doesnt stop me from getting braces. I told him tat i wanted to get it done. He supported me. In fact he said he wanted to get it when he is able to.

Kentcp, i truly feel your pain too. tongue.gif Anyway, i'm loving my braces. Even bioweapon83 also complimented on my progress... hahaha (i take that as a compliment, btw) when it comes to takin pictures, my teeth are shown aligned in pictures. Which i totally happy for it...

To bioweapon83,
The current technology? I'm using In-Ovation Clippy C (ceramic) braces. Its the same as Damon3 which Kentcp is using.

Hi All,

I've just started a blog on my bracing journey =)

I wanted to pen down all the details on the progress of my braces so that I can look back and track at the progress of my braces before I forget totally on the details of it =)

I hope my blog will serve as a platform for us to exchange thoughts as well as an encouragement platform for others to get braces done...I've procrastinate way too long (5 years to be exact) before getting my braces done once and for all..

Do drop by my blog if you guys are free and give me some comments on how i can improve my blog more =)

Nikki's In-Ovation is clear ceramict ype..the bracket is transparent, so not easy to notice from a distance. Prices also a bit expensive than Damon. THe Damon 3MX that using by me is full metal without ceramic. http://www.ormco.com/index/damon-products-damon3mx-2

Nikki,

Hi Leng-Leng,

Nope. In my case, no extraction is required. From what i understand from my ortho, he mentioned that there's normally no extraction needed if you use the Damon system. But that varies with different individuals who uses the Damon type. Extraction will be needed if your teeth condition is wayyy to crowded..This is to make space for your teeth to move.

My ortho says he'll see the progress of the teeth on the lower jaw in the next appointment. (cos i have crowded teeth on the lower jaw as u can see in my blog). might need to go thru extraction if there's no progress at all...i hope i dun have to go through extraction =( im scared of it hehe...

but anyway Leng-Leng,when is ur extraction?? Do keep us posted with your condition and progress ya =)

Take care and have a nice day =)

Jayyen,
Actually, i did applied from government during secondary school. The Dr. said need to extract 4 teeths. So, i went to the 1st appontment, the lady Dr. try so hard to extract my 1st teeth on left.. end up, she asked another dr. (lady also) to extract my teeth. The 2nd Dr, close to my ear and said" you must relax, so that we able to extract you teeth..if I also can't extract the teeth..no one else able to do so in here"..I was so scare, that time the teeth already half way pulled by 1st dr. So, i try to calm down and relax..Lucky, the 2nd dr. can extract it out easily. After that, I told my mum, i don't want go for 2nd appointment for 2nd teeth. This is my story lo.. One thing i learned, must relax your muscle, else the Dr. not easy to pull the teeth. Since your jaw already no feeling by medicine injection, just open mouth big and trust the Dr. Let Dr. complete the job, this will help better.

I don't need to extract teeth for this Damon system. You may saw my photo on pages 1 post by Green_Apple, the first 2 photo is taken on 9th Jan 2008. Besides the teeth no straight, i had the over bites issue as well.

One year had over, here i post another photo taken on 10th Jan 2009. smile.gif Green_Apple, Where are you ? Long time no news lioa.. Your recent photo also a bit out of focus but i think is almost done and very nice ady.

I went to drink hot milo during tea time...the bracket loose again.. Hai.. need to set another appointment on this Thursday lunch time.
