QUOTE(Anespian @ May 27 2010, 06:41 PM) Hi all, Conventional braces normally require extraction, while self-ligating ones do not require extraction in most cases. The payment can be done in installment basis so it won't be a too heavy financial burden for you.I'm contemplating in having braces. Hmm...as the saying goes, 'Ignorance is Bliss'. Only after consulting a ortho, then learned i've got a problem. To keep story short, was advised to do by 1st doctor, but needed to have extraction of two lower teeth. Then was referred to another doc to extract but commented the tooth lower teeth's root is long. So i got scared. Then seek second opinion, Dr How. He said no need extraction wor. Put the braces first, and then see how progress. Confused. 1st doc is conventional metal braces costing RM4K++, Dr How's self ligitating ones are RM6k++. Gosh....I'm a working, so my pockets gonna be a larg hole. Well, still in consideration. My friends all laughing and commented preferably don't do braces. Sigh...still scratching my head Many of my friends also said that I do not need braces. You should know your own need. If you think you need the treatment, you should go for it. I believe most of us here did or are doing braces with no regret. |

QUOTE(NikkiDaTeddy @ Jun 2 2010, 02:14 PM) The last time when i see him with a fallen bracket, he says, "oh...i dont like to hear that". Quite a lot of thing done, means good progress lo. Btw, how long has it been for your treatment? 2 yrs?hahaha... Added on June 3, 2010, 9:15 amWent to see Dr. How yesterday. I think i was lucky. Waited for about 30mins only then got everything done within 10mins. Dr.How changed my upper wire, removed powerchain that connects to my screw (at my gum), did some re-positioning and no need to put rubberband on my upper jaw edy. Whatever at bottom will still remain which included rubberband and wire. |

At most 1 week after bonding of braces, the teeth behind should b able to chew like normal. Just tat front teeth feel a bit weak, cannot bite hard food. Have to cut food into smaller pieces first then send to those teeth behind to chew.
As for ulcer, I do get ulcer easily when the wire "grows" longer n poke my inner cheek. If u have the time, can go n ask Dr to cut it for u, else dental wax is a useful temporary solution. The brackets also might cause ulcer, but I normally jst leave it until the inner wall of my lips get used to the brackets. |

I dont dare to try those very hard food haha... ya, the aunty will sure be happy to see you... or you can also try "mi sua" if you're fed up with porridge... The texture of the noodle is soft enough for your teeth... yes, mi sua is good. besides, kuey teow soup or "wat dan hor" also can try. i personally like to dip hup seng cream crackers into hot milo until very soft. it's tasty, filling and FATTENING.oh ya, there's a type of healthy instant porridge, "Greenmax Yam & Multi Grains Cereal" also not bad. convenient, tasty and healthy. you can find it in most super/hypermarket like jusco, carrefour, tesco... |

QUOTE(hlee09 @ Jun 21 2010, 01:56 PM) Hi everyone! i'm new to tis though i've been reading tis for some time. i'm getting my braces tis weekend at how's. seems like he's the only ortho i can trust. Hi, I'm paying RM6k for Damon 3MX. For the difference between Damon 3 and 3MX, please refer to:i'm in dilemma on the type of braces i shld go for. i'm in late twenties, so i wish smtg subtle (vry shy la..) hence innovation c. but dr told me it produces slower result than damon 3, mostly becos it get loose & break easily therefore prolonges treatment time. becos of my age oso, i do wish to speed it up. somemore dr highly recommends me lotus system. i dun think i've read any lotus user in here. can the lotus supporters share wit me their experiences pls? there u see....i've no idea wat i shld take.... DAMON 3?? INNOVATION C?? LOTUS??? btw, those who paid 6k for damon is using damon 3 or damon 3MX? reali, reali appreciate ur sharing and replies Damon 3 Damon 3MX I chose Damon because Dr. How told me that it produces slightly faster results as compared to Innovation C. |

QUOTE(hlee09 @ Jun 26 2010, 11:22 PM) hi everyone! i'm officially a lotus bracesian now! yup, i've chosen to trust dr how n go for lotus. attached is my pic. I had that white color thing before. I also din notice it until I left the clinic. If not mistaken, it is used to keep the archwire in place so that it doesn't slide too freely in between the brackets.btw, notice the white color thing glued to my archwire between the 2 front teeth? anyone noe wat is tat? i din ask dr/nurse cos i din look at myself until i left the clinic. i was scared to look at myself the bonding process was fast n painless (except for one moment when dr pried open one corner of my upper lip). i started to feel a little discomfort after 8 hrs later. is it going to get worse? ohya, i guess my initial plan of sticking to only soft and "non-messy" food can be dumped into the trash now. right after i stepped out from the clinic, i headed to bangsar village for my lunch n had a yummy plate of pesto spaghettini. after meal i dare not open my mouth at all until i reach the washroom safely. gosh, the amount of pasta and greenish stuff (the pesto sauce la) tat i rinsed out of my mouth is so shocking! From my past experience, if the little discomfort is what u feel after 8 hours, that will be how you will feel in the coming few days. Rinsing your mouth with drinking water after each meal helps a lot. After that only get a mirror to double check whenever convenient. |
