We have a chance to see Australia to play at Malaysia, if they can go to semi-final, but i think it should be no problem for them.

-Iran vs China will be interesting match for me. brows.gif
-Our national team is on impossible mission in this group C. sweat.gif

with home support, it will difficult for the opponents ...

government should make the admission free for malaysian involving malaysia matches, so all malaysian can go in...make loud noise...distract the opponents and sneak a 1-0 win...

we can't win on individual talents thus home support is important rolleyes.gif

I'm going to go with either Australia or Iran to win it.

Malaysia don't have a chance in hell. They can't even beat Hong Kong FFS. They boys have no spirit, no discipline, no will and no ambition. Kinda sounds like the England team doesn't it? If our boys don't want to play for the team, boot them out and bring in players that do, same thing McClaren should be doing.

Not just management but the player's quality must also improve drastically. I remember Norwich (or was it another club? unsure.gif ) was here in Malaysia to find any potential players for trial but they end up empty handed so that explain something I guess tongue.gif

With the likes of Bresciano (spelling? blush.gif ) & fit again Kewell, the Aussie do looks like a strong contender. Not to forget Cahill is close to return as well. That will add more strength into their squad.

ya...i agree with you...management and player must improve
But i also remember got one youngster got picked to be trained at Fulham
i think its better for our player to get competitive experience in Asia league 1st before can get acknowledgment form European league

For the Asia Cup...advantages are on Australia side as most of its well-known player are fit and ready to play

As a Malaysian...i hope they just can get past the group stages sweat.gif doh.gif

if going by my heart, sure lah will want Malaysia to win...

but realistically speaking, I don't think we'll go far. Heck, maybe KO-ed in group stages, looking at the other teams in our group.

they must really bring in a more professional set-up in the Malaysian game, esp after all the debacles that we have had recently like the Man U cockup, Sarawak FA going bust, Negri coach going ballistic, player wages unpaid, etc....as they say in Chinese, "wok wok san sin" which translates to every time fresh problems.

sometimes it's pretty embarrassing to say that we are a progressive nation when management of simple issues are on a regressive notion....

Japan is still strong as ever. Australia, Korea and Iran will be the closest rivals and almost have equal chances to win. some might say Australia is the strongest but i think they're just as good as other strong Asian teams, if they play with their true strength. GANBATTE NIPPON!

actually korea is asia most powerful team...during the world cup qualfying rounds, they can win matches very easy and top the group very fast...but come to big tournament, they flop easily...it tooks them >10 years to win a world cup game but for saudi and iran, 1994 already did it....

Ok, we are going to play 3 matches, First is China, and then Uzbekistan ,finally Iran. In the first match, we must get at least a draw with china, and then we must win Uzbekistan to backup iran match. There is 4 pts.Hopefully we will end up in the second and go to the next round.

But, is that possible ?

of course i'll give my full support to the national team but winning it would be almost impossible and unrealistic, isn't it? biggrin.gif

personally, i think Japan still the strongest even with Australia already joined the AFC now. the Japanese team possess great teamwork display and that will be the key point in their game. the last Asian Cup proved that. Nakamura has done a great job for Celtic this season and that's not just about his brilliant free kick. a bit of surprise to me though. smile.gif

Or i should put the Malaysia in "others".
But to be Malaysian, i should give other Malaysia ppl a chance to vote their national team a support. But we can ignore the impossible thing.

Same here, Duke  biggrin.gif
*
Well, Norwich couldnt get Malaysian players coz Malaysia is ranked above 70..

I hope Malaysia will play better than b4, coz I already bought a Malaysian jersey...

South Korea will win AFC Cup, coz they got Lee Dong-Gok notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I hope that Japan can win this Asia cup.For malaysia i hope they can at least draw in one game and not lost with 5-0,6-0 or more,i hope malaysia can give a fight maybe just lost 2-1 or 3-2.And this just my opinion i hope any team whatever can beat australia.I don't want australia to win because actually australia is not in Asia continent but they from ocenia. It will be a shame if australia win and bring our Proud cup,Asia cup back to ocenia. It just my opinion i hope people will not angry at me smile.gif sorry for australia fan if angry with my statement

Viduka to play in Asian Cup - reports

MELBOURNE - Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has talked Mark Viduka out of announcing his international retirement, according to reports in Australia.

Viduka, who recently left Middlesbrough for fellow English Premiership side Newcastle, had intended to reveal his plans to quit playing for Australia with immediate effect on Friday.

But following talks with Arnold, Viduka is now thought to have performed a U-turn and made himself available for the Asian Cup, which gets under way next month.

Should Australia reach the latter stages of the tournament as expected, the 31-year-old will have less than three weeks' preparation time with Newcastle prior to the start of the 2007-08 English season.

Viduka has scored six goals in 38 appearances for the Socceroos, debuting in the 1-0 win over South Africa in Adelaide in 1994.

It is still expected, however, that Viduka will quit the international arena after the Asian Cup to enable him to prolong his club career.

Vietnam edge out Bahrain
QUOTE
HANOI - Vietnam rounded off their AFC Asian Cup warm-up campaign with a 5-3 victory over fellow continental competitors Bahrain at the My Dinh National Stadium on Saturday.

The game was a perfect preparation for co-hosts Vietnam, who will face defending champions Japan, Qatar and Gulf Cup winners UAE in Group B, while 2004 AFC Asian Cup semi-finalists Bahrain have been drawn in Group D alongside co-hosts Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Korea Republic.

Bahrain opened the scoring after two minutes through midfielder Mahmoud Abdulrahman, but the hosts were back on level terms after 11 minutes through Le Cong Vinh, who gave his side the lead six minutes later.

Vietnam increased their lead eight minutes after the break through Mai Tien Thanh before 2004 AFC Asian Cup top scorer Ala'a Hubail reduced the deficit for Bahrain two minutes after the hour mark.

Bahrain levelled the scores 10 minutes later through Nigerian born striker Jaycee John, but Vietnam regained the lead after 77 minutes through Phan Thanh Binh before Nguyen Anh Duc sealed the victory with three minutes to play.

Vietnam kick-off their AFC Asian Cup campaign against UAE on July 8, while Bahrain face co-hosts Indonesia two days later.

sure lah Malaysia boleh...something like Jackie Chan/Stephen Chow movies, no matter bad or good also must see one....

we were a bit unlucky to lose to Singapore in the semis in the Tiger Cup earlier this year, don't think that they were way better than us. Thailand included. but Asian Cup is a whole new ball game, and the opposition is quite formidable. our group itself also problem already, what more with S Korea, Japan, Australia, etc all lurking after that...

but still Malaysia lah, now and forever.... biggrin.gif

in realistic world.. i would choose Iran over Australia due to the quality of player that Iran have in their squad. Iran have few players that based on Europe such as well known Ali Karimi who played for Bayern, Vahid Hashemian who played for Hannover, Mehdi Mahdavikia for Eintrach, Andranik Teymourian for Boltan and Rahmen Razaei for Livorno.

As a Malaysian, we will facing China in the first game. As usual first game is the tough game for both team and the result will determine which path will bring the squad. If Malaysia can make an upset to beat China in first game, we will have a good chance to go to the second round..

I still think aussie will win this championship. No doubt Iran have european based players but Aussie's abroad players are all big guns and do rise to the challenge. In fact, during last world cup, Italy was very lucky to beat the Aussie. And u got to admire the sports fighting spirit of Austrlian, not only in soccer but also in other sports, they always have the never say die attitude.

I think not that easy to beat Iraq, this Iraq team is the ex-olympic team which goto semi-final on Olympic 2004. Anyway me still hope that our neighbourhood can beat Iraq.

All I know Malaysia could afford to offer 1yr holiday if Malaysia won the cup. That's why FAM so sure Malaysia could not reach the final and hence the whole Man U fiasco thing.

Saw the Thailand vs Iraq game....honestly i rooted for thailand..they played superbly especially 2nd half..if it's not because of their physics..they could have won the game...but in my heart...Malaysia all the way...it's just that i had this habit of rooting for smaller/underdog teams...hehehe

Thai got very good fitness. Maybe because of their muay thai thingy. IMHO Malaysia always sempot. Cannot connect more than 3 passes, how to attack? Maybe if they could play like Greece in euro 2004?

Are you kidding? I doubt Malaysia will win a single game, let alone qualify from the group stages. We've got Iran, China and Uzbekistan in our group, I won't be surprise if we don't score a single goal. We might fluke a goal against the Uzbek's but China and Iran are World Class opposition, while we aren't even ranked in the top 3 in SEA.

There was no other way Malaysia would have qualified for it. With the ludicrous amount of money the government is throwing around to promote our country, perhaps we'll soon be bidding for the World Cup. God knows it's the only way we'll ever qualify for it. 4 hosts? It's probably because a) of the amount of money that the host nation(s) has to shell out and b) not one of those countries have sufficient world class stadiums to host the tournament.

Mars? Any reason as to why you picked Mars? None right as it's probably the only other planet you know of in our solar system. And I suppose you come from Never Never Land. If you need a definition, here it is:

QUOTE
The term 'never-never land' is now usually applied with a sense of dismissiveness - used when someone is dreaming unrealistically about a utopian future.

No I'm not patriotic but yes, I am realistic. You honestly think we deserve to win and are going to win, given the politics that exist in Malaysian football? Or aren't you even aware of that? You want me to eat my words? Make me.

If that we always true, Andorra would have won the World Cup and Watford, the Premier League smile.gif

What pisses me off is that a lot of younger posters here are being patriotic blindly, thinking that it's all peaches & cream. We have all spoken extensively on the state of Malaysian football and if anyone wants to be filled in, they can visit the thread. Instead they all seem to pity our national side and think we deserve better (hmmm why does this seem familiar?). It is time we stopped consoling our players each time they dish out mediocre performances against Laos, Philippines and Macau, and start being really harsh with them. It is time to stop baby-ing them and fooling ourselves into thinking it is alright to be average.

Then malaysia will have slight advantage. icon_rolleyes.gif
Haha this might be somewhat a dream but possible to happen.
By the way i don't think Malaysia is average, they are below that but miracle do happen once a while. Malaysia team is always a disspoinment, that why we have Myteam1 and Myteam2 pop-up like mushroom.

This is why many teams opt to bring their own chefs along for the trip. Food poisoning is a problem especially when teams visit foreign soil. After watching Malaysia play numerous times though, I reckon it will take more than food poisoning to prevent a pounding. As host country, we are invited to participate which really fortunate for us because I don't think we would have made it through qualifying.

It is no big secret that not all the best players get selected for the national squad because of certain reasons. I still remember when our national team got beaten by someone like Malaysia Telecom in a friendly before leaving for an international tournament. The only time you'll find me jumping about for Malaysia is during badminton. Why? Because you can see our shuttlers fighting to the end (with the exception of Hafiz), they really want to win. Our footballers on the other hand often look unmotivated and lost, they look contented and have no desire to improve. Unlike our shuttlers, I do not think they deserve our support.

Badminton,Squash, bowling and pool events are the few sport that Malaysia fought the hardest.

I though the look unmotivated and lost is because of lack of stamina, get tired easily too much nasi lemak. If not mistake we still dont have anyone to monitor players diet and control eating habit.
Well I never support Malaysia till this day, they haven't prove themself yet and i can wait for another 30 years plus for them to improve. Once a while i do watch them in TV see any changes but this few years it is the same, the only thing I was amazed when Malaysia won Indo at their own home ground, lucky i never watch Malaysia get the payback.
I don't really like how HIT.FM ads regarding supporting local football, I believe if you want the support you have to earn it.
I hate to watch malaysia lose but I love when a team get trash so i have the mix feeling of fun and hate. rclxub.gif

hheemm.. reminds me when we were the host for the youth world cup, created a record, the first host team without a win.. sad.gif

i still hope malaysia to at least gets a draw against china:
1) first game is always the toughest for both teams
2) homeground advantage? if only the stadium is full..
3) hope they wud play like thailand did, respect against ur opponent is one thing, want to win the match is another, thailand did attack throughout the game, i hope the national side wud do the same, like i've metioned before, more passing in midfield, more thru passes, less long ball please...

p/s: now waiting for japan's match.. smile.gif

You are right on this one. They don't have a regimented diet plan because Malaysian players are spoilt. When Akmal Rizal wanted to come back to Malaysia from France, he cited missing Nasi Lemak as one of the reasons. Let me break it down, 'Nasi' = Rice, 'Lemak' = Fat. Hmmm... doesn't exactly sound like a proper diet for someone wanting to keep in shape does it?

I was actually very proud of our national team back in the days of Arumugam, Soh Chin Aun, Santokh Singh, Mokhtar Dahari. This was a time when our squad was truly 'muhibah' and the players were proud to represent the country, a far cry from now. This was a time where we drew with an England B team and even beat the United States. It was a time when South Korea and us where the powerhouses of East Asia. Just look where we are now. Corruption, greed and politics have killed us.

Better days:

QUOTE
Mokhtar Dahari aka Supermokh!
In 1975, he represented Malaysia against English giants Arsenal F.C. Malaysia won the game 2-0 and Mokhtar scored both goals. After the game, Mokhtar was rumoured to have been offered a chance to play for the Gunners. He also famously scored a goal in a 1-1 draw against England B in 1978 by dribbling past half of the England B Team.
I am looking forward to a really competitive tournament and I will still be looking out for our games. However I won't feel sad or disappointed when we get beat.

There are a few reasons why a lot of people I know don't feel patriotic but it's all political, so let's not go there. Younger posters will have absolutely no idea what this means of course, unless you actually read the papers and keep up with current events. If you don't do a little research before talking about something you don't know a thing about.

You question my patriotism? I attended 2 games of the 1992 Thomas Cup held @ Stadium Negara. I was cheering our team on as we beat Indonesia in the finals. I saw players like Foo Kok Keong puking his guts out fighting for the pride of our nation? When is the last time you saw one of our footballers do that? We were singing patriotic songs way before the match began. After the game, I walked all the way from the stadium to the KTM station with a group of friends, each waving our national flag. I still remember a traffic policemen stopping me and asking me who had won. He smiled and cheered when I told him the result before on with his job. The stadium erupted and Malaysians of all races were singing and dancing in harmony. When was the last time you have seen this? These are different times my friend whether or not you choose to accept it.

I have spoken extensively about why someone like me still cheers for them, but hates our football team with passion. If you look at our badminton squad, you see what our football team was once like. Our badminton squad is multi-racial, just like our nation. Our football squad is not, why? Go figure. Our badminton team fights till the end, our football team is mentally weak and gives up before the end.

If anything, winning will only lull our team into a false sense of security. They will grow complacent and will see no reason to improve. As it is, we are in a state of decline, just look at the other South East Asian countries. Vietnam beat the UAE (once World Cup qualifiers) and Thailand drew with Iraq (again, former World Cup qualifiers). We haven't just stagnated, we have fallen behind whilst our rivals have surged ahead. It is because that some choose to follow our squad blindly that they grow complacent thinking the crowd will still be behind them if they dish out insipid performances. Heck even fans of England have booed their team of the pitch, instead of just blindly supporting them when they know the team is underachieving and the players aren't giving it their all. So before any of you criticise those of us who frown upon our national team, do some thinking instead of blindly supporting thinking you are doing the team a favour. It is no big secret that many of our players are comfortable, lack ambition, lack discipline and motivation. If you have seen videos of our Malaysian team in the 70's, you'll notice a distinct difference in quality, heart and most of all, nationalism. If you haven't, I suggest you do. Speak to the older generation and you'll see how they speak fondly of past Malaysian teams, where the players, comprising of all 3 major races truly fought for the country, unlike now. Now, they share the same opinion that people like me do, that our team is not worthy of support. Instead, they need a good kick up the ass.

Once again, do a little thinking before you frown upon people who criticise our team. It's better they lose now and realise they have to improve, than to fluke a couple of results, fooling them into thinking it is all good.

Well said Duke Red! I totally agreed that malaysia football been in the wrong direction for as long as i could remember. it always involved politics & corruption. Players are not considered professional as their attitude to their job is real poor. No wonder, countries like vietnam already over took us. Malaysian do start their professional league earlier than Japan, but comparing japanese standard to ours it still a long way to catch up. And stop giving excuses, look at the jap also lack of physical strength yet they had improved so much.

I followed Malaysian football up to the point it became a full fledge professional league. Back then I was an avid Selangor supporter and even collected all their newspapers clippings. Those were the days where local heroes like Zainal Abidin Hassan, Dollah Salleh, K. Gunalan were complemented by foreign talent like Zoran Nokolic, Pavel Korejcik, Karel Stromsik and at one point EPL stars like Tony Cottee and former Ipswich striker, Chris Kiwomya. The difference in the quality of play then and now is so so so apparent. We even scored two in a friendly against an England team featuring Gary Lineker, Chris Woods, Stuart Pearce, David Batty, Des Walker, David Platt and Mark Wright. Lineker scored all four of England's goals while Matlan Marjan hit a brace and the game ended 4-2 in favour of the English. Then the beginning of the decline. Our league became professional, more money was pumped in by sponsors and corruption has brought the game to the state it is in now.

sorry mate if you've got me wrong on frowning upon ppl who does not or will not support the national team, it was never my intention to do that.

i've also been a follower of Malaysian football, if you were Selangor, then I was a KL fan, looking up to ppl like Teong Kim, Fandi, Kannan, Malek Awab, et al when they were playing for KL, and what a team they were! multi-racial, even multi-nationality! those were the good times of Malaysian football, before 'professionalism' reared its ugly head and ruined the then semi-pro atmosphere of most Malaysian league matches.

but i've always been a sentimental sucker and it really pains me to see the national team in it's doldrum-ic state now, esp when we know that we are capable of something more, if not better. i respect others for their POV, it's ultimately up to each and every one of you to decide if the our national team is still worth your support or not. for me, i tend to brush all the negativity aside (politics too) and do the support purely because of the fact that I'm MALAYSIAN, so call me an ignorant supporter, but like i said, it's still MY national team.

win or lose, it's still our national team, no one can take that fact away.

and btw, that Thomas Cup win? the one where we got a holiday the next day? i was there too...from Stadium Negara to Puduraya where I got the bus back home.... biggrin.gif

Respect notworthy.gif notworthy.gif That's what we call support our team through thick and thin.. That's why in England or anywhere or even in Malaysia i'm not surprised there are still many people supporting Malaysia or in England team like Wycombe or Hyde United still has many fans.. because they are doing 'support trough thick and thin' just like we discussed so many times before in this forum..

Well that's the difference between us then. I do look at the bigger picture and our country as a whole. While people may choose to ignore politics and brush reality aside, I choose to fret over it. I find it hard to love something that doesn't love you back? Unrequited love sucks don't you think?

There is a difference mate. Supporting your club through thick and thin is admirable. However you have chosen to ignore much of what I said in my previous post. It is like supporting the corruption that exists in our football (and nation), and also encouraging our players to play with little zeal, ambition and determination. It is supporting their right to be mediocre. I'm too tired to repeat myself so if you've read my post and still don't get the point I'm trying to make, so be it.

Fair enough mate, I'm not trying to force people into believing what I do. I'm trying to get people to understand.

As for supporting our football team, we can agree to disagree. I do support Malaysia, but only in sports where the players actually give a damn like Nicole David in Squash, Karamjit Singh in Rallying and of course, our badminton squad, well all of them except for Hafiz. As for football, I also supported them in the good old days when they team played with such passion. I just feel that the current squad and the FAM don't deserve any pity because they basically shot themselves in the foot.

In the bigger scheme of things I also feel like I'm treated as a 2nd class citizen in my own country but this is a topic for another thread.

i'm on duke red's side. i dont support our national football team not because they havent won anything for a long time, because other factors involved in this sports.
Club football is different, they can't win but u can see the players, managers, the whole club did put an effort trying to be better. Anyway the club i supported already 38 years without any trophy & yet i still put my faith on them tongue.gif

for me, i tend to look on the bright side of stuff. adapt to it, cause love it or loathe it, you're stuck with it. why fret over things that you can't control?

but then again, that's me lah. and that's the diff of opinion most ppl have over issues, some big and some small. can't agree on everything eh?

that's the point of forums like this, meaningful discussions taking place, but not forcing the issue. we are all each our own, and that includes the football we support or not.

here's hoping we get a decent result tonight then... sweat.gif

That's the thing with me mate, I don't accept things as easily. I find that when people say, "it's like that one lah, cannot change, just accept it", they sound like defeatists. Ideally, I think we should try out best to be perfectionists or at least make an attempt to fight for perfection.

As you say though, to each his own.

Last time we played against China is at the World Cup qualifying campaign [2005] and in the Olympic qualifiers [2004].

Akmal Rizal still not haunted by injury problem at that time. He scored against China in 1-1 draw for Olympic Qualifiers game and 0-0 draw when we meet them for World Cup qualifiers in Penang.

Do we improve or do we not??

For me it's not the best local that we had. They been choose due to seniority status that they have. If you can remember, this is like Alan Harris squad in 2000.

Without the 'status' i don't think they deserve to play tonight. Like Indra, he never play any competitive game because of long term injury, and Cikgu Jan choose him because of his status. He don't deserve to play tonight from his current performance. Haris Safwan, Azlan Ismail, or Faizal Rozali deserve to play upfront based on current performance

Another one, reserve Selangor goalkeeper Syed Adney. he been choose due to 'Liverpool' born status. He never play for Selangor first team, but he still been choose as Malaysia reserve keeper. I felt 19 years old Nasril Nordin much more deserve to be in Malaysia squad because he is Perak 1st team goal keeper. He played every single game for Steve Darby team. he got experience.

Sigh...

China has always complained about the heat and humidity here much like most of the other nations. They have also not been enjoying the best of results, recently losing to the USA 4-1. If there is a time to beat them, it's now.

Hopefully we could win anyway. Play bottom ugly football, fake injuries, delay time, catenaccio, anything as long as we win! Nearly 30yrs we haprak. Come on Malaysia...

I believe the declining of the quality football in Malaysia is due to the lack of TALENTS. Why I said that! Nowadays majority our local football player just came from one dominant race only. And why this happened? I think because the other race is studied in a school that don't have a proper grass field for them to enjoying football.. again why this happened..most of this school situated in 'MAHAL' land and also they(the school board) prefer to build a building than maintaining 'PADANG' to cater people that 'BERBONDONG2' entered this type of school. Additional to this - the parents of this school prefer their children to study than play and minority that support their children in sports suddenly realize their children did not mix well with others due to the lack of 'pendedahan' to others (I hope i don't sound like racism because i believe this actually happened - Correct me if i wrong). AND WHAT IS SOLUTION to this .......????? I leave it to you to answer.... This is one factor from many more....

Can't understand why they left out Nanthakumar. We lack height. We so nearly conceded, super high ball over the defence from China.

QUOTE(Ranceed @ Jul 10 2007, 08:20 PM)
*
wah machae....dun pull the racial stuff in right away la.....in general msia football got some serious problem....right from the top of the FAM....till the grassroot development.....ermfan mentality oso plays an important part....

I read somewhere that Nantha was supposed to start in the heart of defence to make up for our lack of height. We almost conceded from another cross, perhaps he should be brought on for the 2nd half. We really are struggling with the height. Another thing is our defenders keep punting the ball upfield and it's obvious our forwards aren't tall or big enough to hold up the ball. Our ball control is also looking really poor.

I find it hard to believe that the average height of our squad is hardly 6'. I see 6 footers walking around everyday... Size isn't everything but it helps especially when playing against big squads like China. Either that or you need to have a leap like Cannavaro.

Just hope we don't get slaughtered 4 nil or more. I don't understand why we play so deep, even the strikers stay inside of our own area and when we try to attack it'll be soo slow. If we really just want to defend the players must stop China from crossing the ball, so far I can't see much of our players do it. Watching the national team is always frustrating. World Cup 20xx my arse!

Exactly mate. We can't do much about the lack of height since Nantha is benched, and thus logic would dictate that we have to close down quicker and prevent them from getting crosses in.

Knowing that China is using the height advantage why not start Nanthakumar in the first place? I can't really see our wingers effective at all. Should sub in Indra Putra or at least Eddie Helmi (is he on the bench?) at the flanks.

Gee they've finally brought on Nantha, freaking Einsteins. Are these seriously the best players we have in our country? Once again, we've justified our FIFA World Ranking. As I said, getting behind the team when they are giving their all every game is fine. When they dish out crappy performances like this however, fans have to voice their discontent instead of consoling the team and treating them like babies.

Ok now let's guess the final score. I'll go for 7-0. Our football suck. Can you imagine our school kids can play and win internationally but when they grew up and play in the M-League the performance is just super crap. I think FAM need to let the kids play for the national team and let their school coaches to be our national coach. Perhaps we'll have better results.

I've just given up watching the game.
Tactically we are inept; lining our back line so deep just invites pressure on to the defence. Our left back (whatever his name is) should get a hair cut cause it's obviously making him the worst left back in the tournament. We lack concentration and desire which is criminal when u're playing for your own country.

Added on July 10, 2007, 10:01 pmThank god i decided against going to watch the game at the stadium even though it's just across my house. My friend had a spare ticket as well..

yea dude....but 1st we need 2 get FAM 'fixed up' 1st....the org itself is in disarray.....how can it even manage the nation's football in that way....i think the next thing is for FAM to design a 30 plan to revive the natinal football.....intervening even from year 1 primary school....and yea ppl's mentality has to change as well....i think thats the hardest part of all.....

i still hope that i will die of heart attack, cheering for msia in the world cups....when im bout 70s or 80s....thats my wish man....

You are all right about the mental thing. I have no idea how Titus James is doing now but if I were him, I wouldn't come back. Who cares if he never represents the nation? At least he'll have a decent career, unlike our nasi lemak deprived heroes who opted to come back instead of staying on in France and Germany. Look where they are now? We should be giving players who have ambition the opportunity to train with clubs overseas and secure permanent contracts. Why keep sending these nasi lemak eating, homesick, lack of ambition useless players abroad?

We've just scored one. Looking at the how happy some people in the crowd are just comes to show how far behind we are. We're losing 4-1 to a team we used to draw with and it's as though we just scored 1 against Brazil.

Malaysia were losing many talented and brilliant young players to other pro careers like engineering and pharmacy. Just look at our school up to uni we had a lot of talented young players but then they avoid becoming football players when they graduated. No points for guessing why. Nakata even declined Japanese U just to play football. Malaysian football is the exact opposite man.

Badminton is our national sport not football.

There were no scouts to discover talents....all competition were school-based and the talented players in the losing schools just being forgotten. Only until national level that players are united to form a team.

Is not that we lacked of talents..but the MENTALITY of MALAYSIAN players is to be blame..for example Akmal Rizal who is the TOP local earner RM15k per month...They don't give their heart out when playing for our country and because afraid of getting injured..

We LACKED of BOTTLERS not TALENTS..You can see the Vietnamese gives their HEART out when playing for their country unlike our national players...

These points sums up why Malaysia lost today in my opinion:
1) Lousy goal keeper (especially last goal..he was SOOOO out of line)
2) Bad passing
3) Like they don't know how to stop a ball properly
4) Don't know what to do when they're 3/4 into the opposition side.
5) defense out of line

PS: What's with malaysian goal keeper hairstyle these days?..(Maybe they thought it can double act as a third hand to catch the ball?)

my say:

1) donno why the malaysian team doesn't like to pass the ball around, keep possession, pumped the ball everytime, lose the ball..
2) i like nantha..
3) defenders shud win the ball..
4) midfielders shudn't lose the ball..
5) strikers? no comment, bcos didn't receive quality ball..

others:

1) wah, sun jihai look tall and 'big', he looks kinda tiny in city's jersey! hah!

when will i be able to feel proud of my country's football sad.gif

Tomorrow's headline will be

LOST WITH PRIDE:MALAYSIA

although being thrashed 1-5, malaysian team is highly commendable for their performance against the mighty China. They showed great spirits and fought till the last moment. No doubt the Indra goal was really a superb finishing, almost equaling the goals scored by Ronaldo, Drogba, or Henry. Let's hope Malaysia can pull off a better performance in the next match and qualify for the semis.

Keeper...N9... always OUT of POSITION
Khaironisam My Team.....baik jd model iklan je lah
Zamani Pahang....DECENT....read some ball well
Fauzi..Kedah...So-so...Lack International game
Shukor Adan...Selandon...Make M'sia lack one of players
Hardi....Johor..OK
SharulNIzam...Perak...Rajin...but like ayam takde kepala
Fadzli Shaari...Pahang...Malaysia best without him....
Hairuddin...Pahang....Harap nak skor goal cam lawan CHELSEA je...
Akhmal...selandon...one or two old skill...others no support

Indra..Pahang...only the goal can be applaud
Nantha...Perak...why he came as sub??????

not the coach fault also la..players losuy..only akmal rizal can play

In my eyes only akmal, indra and nantha are the only so called decent players in the squad. If i remember even the "great" Shebby once said that indra is the only good player to emerge from the under 20's back then. But as usual no proper development from the management.

You know what? That is probably what they will say. Our national team has always been treated like babies and we've always given them a pat on the back telling them it's alright. Well it isn't alright! mad.gif We must the lowest ranked team in the whole tournament.

Don't blame the nasi lemakla man. It got plenty of carbo and fats and very good for you thumbup.gif . Its the lack of training that failed us to utilized that sort of energy efficiently. Remember wc2002 korea? people hv been talking that the korean were so fit becoz they ate dogs.

Yeah diet are important but do we have dietitian or fitness trainers on the national team or state team for that matter? We maybe 147 in the world but definitely last in pro football.

The nasi lemak joke came about when a couple of our players were sent overseas, only to cite that they wanted to come back because the could not adapt to the weather and they missed Malaysian cuisine such as nasi lemak.

malaysia can play well if they want to...
managed to pin china in their own half for quite some time...

indra scored a beautiful goal.... credit goes to him for that...

and the malaysia goalkeeper, somebody please shoot him..
i would rate the gk as the worst....
saves 1, conceded 5

true defense is to be blamed also but at least the keeper should have done better....

ah~ first game end in defeat. will cikgu jan use same tactic againts Uzbeks ?
ball control n passing is what they lack. if we don't have height like someone mention, we must optimize what we have.
we can play ground ball but if they lack ball control, first touch and passing it'll be very hard to play. another one is teamwork, always see one passing but the receiver didn't notice, where's teamwork? sleep.gif

good job guys! itadakimasu drool.gif

we had loads of players with talent...

remember matlan marjan - he got rave reviews affter an English friendly, only to be done for for corruption...

i don't condone what he and his fellow 'fallen' heroes did but the blame should be shared by the local FA's back then too - i heard from the birds and the bees that many of the local players were not paid for months by their employee (FAs). So what the heck were they supposed to eat? Easily tempted victims of circumstance if you ask me.

He's our tallest keeper ryte. Sadly he's career ends bcoz of a certain bribery claim i think.

The early 90's bribery scandal have cost us a lot of decent players. 70's we have a lot good players that gives their wisdom to the 80's player like Mokhtar, Soh Chin Aun, Arumugam, then to the late 80's like Zainal...Dollah...Shebby...Mat Zan...Rashid Hassan...these player pass on to Azizul Abu Hanifah...Matlan...Khairul Azman and then CORRUPTION scandal...

Almost 80% of the players at that time has been wiped out. We are left with generations that never played with their seniors...no experience...

Now we are left with players that have been developed by Harris and then being polluted with club MONEY!!!!!!

We had another really tall keeper. Ex-Kedah player Azmi Mahmud, but I rate Khairul Azman higher, better reflexes. Still, none of them come close to Arumugam in terms of being legendary.
*
yes, Arumugam was legend...but 10 years back Khairul Azman was good, after that....no one near him...

I don't want to compare last time and now on our ranking. But lets compare how we play last time and now. That is the best benchmark. I think RTM should show all our old times game on TV, let us see and of course let those footballer see how we used to play last time. I understand we can't compare what we stand now and last time, but we can compare how we play. Just see how technically and mentally our players played last time.
Need exposure? Find, go ahead. Send them for footballing school. Just like what we did for swimming or squash. Stay, live, eat and sleep on football. If I were the coach, I will say " saya malu jadi coach Malaysia, saya malu dengan pemain saya". I remember last time during SEA game when we lost to Loas, our coach said " malu ".
We lost and we can't even compete. Is like small kid playing against adult.

We got the same old players and no replacements for them. My fren syed Adney (goalkeeper) plays for the national Olympic team, even he says there are a lot of politics going even on the training field. SOmetimes the coach would go lepak for a long time until the players need to train by themselves....how disturbing...

LOST AGAIN!!!!!

WHY???? -OTHERs THAT enough y'll said - lack skill, determination.....etc

80% is player from bottom club on M League.... Pahang, N9, Selandon and even from Premiere League (2nd tier)..MyTeam

My Rating:

LeftBAck ...Rosdi Talib (Pahang)... Hampehhh
Keeper...N9... always OUT of POSITION
Khaironisam My Team.....baik jd model iklan je lah
Zamani Pahang....DECENT....read some ball well
Fauzi..Kedah...So-so...Lack International game
Shukor Adan...Selandon...Make M'sia lack one of players
Hardi....Johor..OK
SharulNIzam...Perak...Rajin...but like ayam takde kepala
Fadzli Shaari...Pahang...Malaysia best without him....
Hairuddin...Pahang....Harap nak skor goal cam lawan CHELSEA je...
Akhmal...selandon...one or two old skill...others no support

Indra..Pahang...only the goal can be applaud
Nantha...Perak...why he came as sub??????
Eddy..Johor...not much running as he used too.....
*
Err..can i add some comment too? smile.gif

LeftBAck ...Rosdi Talib (Pahang)... Lazyyyyyy yet slowwwwwww
Azizon...N9...among the worst keeper in super league conceded 38 goal for his team fourth place from last standing
Khaironisam...My Team.....Oklah....but lack stamina
Zamani...Pahang....only a few touch okay...others like secondary school player
Fauzi..Kedah...fast..overlapping still can cover own position..not so good in long passing
Shukor Adan...Selangor...Very very very very very very very very very lazyyyyyy player
Hardi....TMFC..Oklah...rajin challenge and good try oso
SharulNizam...Perak...Rajin...but going nowhere..70% passing crap to team members...prefer Ivan Yusof
Fadzli Shaari...Pahang...better put him with shukor adan as a ball picker....prefer Safee Sali more than this clown
Hairuddin...Pahang....Moody player...sometime good/sometime bad..but this time not perform his best
Akmal...selangor...better replace with other player...play like want to jaga kaki only

Indra..Pahang...good goal but lack others player support to play well
Nantha...Perak...only after he play..China got trouble for midfield aerial ball
Eddy..Johor...ok...but lack members support

Donno how to comment...but how can Norizan Bakar pick some of this CRAP PLAYER for a national team?
Most of the player come from worst team in malaysia league... doh.gif

Better put wan jamak, he one of the best coach around in M'sia. Remember how we got to the tiger cup finals in 96 with a bunch of rowdy players. Even TMFC looks better with him on board.

Just got back from the stadium. And i must say my RM20 is quite well spent for 6 goals LOL. Ok honestly it sucks. It was so embrassing...so pathetic that at one point Malaysian fans are actually cheering for the China national team and to rub salt into the wound...we boo-ed the Malaysia team.

As expected, the Malaysian team never fail to entertain us. Their defence was a laughing stock. The midfielders were clueless and the attackers are like headless chickens.

Severely lack of creativity, taking too much time holding the ball unnecessarily, lack of support for their team mates and the worst was, they actually have got very poor basic. Sloppy passes...poor 1st touch..lousy ball control.

Kudos Malaysia! I had great fun seeing so many goals. I'm kinda certain we can never see as many goals in other matches.

If only coach put this lineup for a next match...i'm sure there will be a different game play..

---------------No Azizon Kadir here plz smile.gif --------

V.Thiru-------Nantha------Khairunisam-----Fauzi Nan

Eddy-------Safee Sali-------Hardi---------Ivan Yusuf

------------Hairuddin------------Indra-----------------

For me this is the best Malaysian team for AFC cup base on what we have in the reserved not including those who are not selected to the team. smile.gif
