Never went to London before. Anyone know what is it?

Anyone know what are the charges for foreign currency fee paid using AMEX? I want to pay about 7000 TWD this weekend but not sure if it is better to use AMEX or bigpay...
*
If you have nothing else to spend till end of the month, then use your M2 Amex Gold/platinum for TWD7k (near RM1k).
But if you have HLB cashback card, you may consider the 10% CB promo.

My monthly credit limit is RM5,000

In maybank2u is says available credit limit is - 403.07. Does it means I can now spend RM403.07 or RM5,403.07(RM5,000+403.07)?

In deficit. Pay RM403.07+ to avoid over limit.

AMEX starts losing edges.

Unionpay will overtake Amex soon in Malaysia.
Unionpay already become the largest card payment organization in the world, ahead of Visa and MasterCard.

Ok.. well....
Unless local bank issue... otherwise with this China bank, still far away
*
Ya we have to wait for a few more years before ICBC, Bank of China and China Construction Bank move aggressively into consumer banking. Local banks - only Public Bank issue Unionpay Debit card.

only a debit card.....and basically no reward, unless u want to use in china, otherwise no one will use union pay in local
*
UOB (Singapore) already launched Unionpay CC in Singapore, giving 2% rebate.
I won't surprise UOB Malaysia or any local banks in Malaysia (except Maybank) may issue Unionpay CC soon.

Can highlight why not Maybank?
*
Maybank already got exclusive franchise for Amex in Malaysia, so only Maybank is willing to burn money to promote Amex.
I don't think Maybank is interested to promote Unionpay in Malaysia, unless they are eyeing to open more branches in China.

How to time the swipes in Australia using Amex so that they qualify for the weekend 5% CB? Base on Malaysia Time?

Transaction dates must be Sat & Sun.
Ignore Malaysia time

So while in NZ as long it is on weekend, dont need to care about GMT+13?
*
Just need to make sure the transaction date recorded by Amex (NZ) is either Sat/Sun.
I tried in London (GMT+0) on a Sunday night (it was a Monday morning in Malaysia), I did get the weekend rebate.

All of the time Amex cash back I always max (RM50) per month.

Should I continue using it for the rest of the month for the 5x TreatsPoints ? is it worth it when exchange for AEON cash vouchers? I remember it's like 2% if calculated as cash vouchers
*
1TP worth 0.2%. 5TP worth 1%.

Just to confirm, to be eligible for 5% weekend cashback, the time for retail swiping at credit card terminals in foreign countries, and the time of online payment gateways hosted in foreign countries must be on Saturday and Sunday, based on the local time of foreign countries, which is independent of Malaysia time, right?

Thanks for sharing your discovery. smile.gif

M2 Amex - don't look at Malaysia date & time.

Transaction date must be Sat or Sun. For foreign transactions, it takes 1-3 days to be posted in M2U (not same day posting), you can check the transaction date.

For online transactions, there is always a risk to be posted in Friday or Monday; eg you perform a transaction at Taobao China (not Amex), it may turn up the payment is processed by Taobao London! The safest time frame is Malaysia Time Saturday 8pm to Sunday 7pm.

Hi guys, plan to buy something from USA using AMEX 2 Card, is it is the cash back 5% sufficient to cover the exchange rate? Please advise.

I tried to compare USD : MYR rate provided by Amex (against visa and master), but Amex do not publish the exchange rate publicly like visa & master.
*
Amex : + 2.5 to 3%
Visa/MasterCard: + 2 to 2.5%

Spend after 8pm Saturday Malaysia Time (GMT+8), the transaction date (local time in US, not Malaysia time) must be Sat/Sun to get the 5% rebate (+5 TP worth 1%).

P/S avoid using the Amex CC on Black Friday.

So Etiqa no longer collect sales on weekend but process them on Monday?

BTW, were u invited to this campaign?

My experience in 2017-18... all immediate online transactions (with Amex Safekey/OTP), transacted on weekend and posted on the same day. I bought Etiqa Motor Insurance & Etiqa Travel Insurance online.

Your scenario may be buying the insurance by phone, and via standing instruction.

I am not participating in the Maybank - Visa Debit game... My card not inactive.

I also don't understand. It is different from the previous one, can get 1 prize per day.
Forget the Bigpay/Boost, spend in other currencies, 3001 winners!
Local spend only 730 winners, but very very competitive!

P/S: Cardmembers may only win one prize throughout the campaign.

If I wish to upgrade my card to platinum, how does the SST work? Have cancelled the other card due to SST and keep my AMEX, no SST charged yet because my card expires next year in March.

So if my request to upgrade to Platinum is approved, will there be two credit cards given and I gotta pay RM50 SST? Or I can simply request for one card, AMEX to be upgraded only. And do I have to send the request and ensure it's approved prior my current Gold card expiry is March to avoid double charge of SST?
*
Then apply for M2 Amex Platinum (if allowed) in January then cancel the M2 Gold cards by 28/2. You will be charged once only in FY2019. If you get a new card now, you need to pay AF for FY2018.

Ahh.. I got what u meant, I thought to request for an upgrade this year so I guess id better wait till early next year or latest by end of the year then I don't have to pay x2 SST.

Is upgrading easier by just providing my EA form to show my annual income? I worry applying a new one might involve more complicated procedures. And I wish to my get AMEX platinum and hoping won't to receive d other card.. Not sure how the application works currently - whether 2 cards are still given at once.
*
I don't know how the upgrade works.
Alternatively, use your Form BE 2017 (>RM60k) to apply for FC Barcelona Visa Signature (requirement is RM48k, less than M2 Platinum!) and cancel your M2 Visa/Mastercard Gold. You will have FCB VS + M2 Amex (Gold/Platinum), with higher credit limit and access to Platinum Customer Service. If you apply for FCB VS now, you may have to pay RM25 (FY2018) but you earn RM50 rebate (if you can spend RM2500 in December), net gain RM25, so still worth to try.
