boost mother company already spent 30+mil just to throw money away for ppl to use.

their 1st year kpi target is 5mil users. simple kpi.

next year, they start imposing mdr to each transaction. let's see if merchant acceptance still that high later.

how many ewalllet has this deep budget to throw?

boost gain traction of course. but what is their gameplan for 2, 3, 5, etc years to come.

TNG backend system still lamn, even with alipay tech and experience support, their transaction network is slow and still not able to fully integrate or replace TNG card, one word --> not convenient to use

See their respective user comments on app store will know, alot of good comments for boost, alot of complaint for TNG

The TnG card is a dinosaur technology which the card balance needs to update manually.
This can be seen in auto-reload on Zing card.

The TnG physical card balance in the TnG App can only be reflected with the latest balance within 48 hours of the last transaction.

Full integration is complex for TnG physical but RFID will be more promising!

It's Axiata, to be specific. Celcom is just one of their telco service, along with few telcos in few countries of Asia. Don't forget that MVNO telcos like RedOne and Yoodo are riding on their newtork as well.

They probably earning way more than we think lol.

Use the major ones like Boost and Favepay, smaller ones are probably destined to fail due to the small budget in penetrating the market.

I've noticed that TnG app will update the card balance every few hours (probably 4-5 hours) which is still slow and unpractical. Unlike other countries like Suica in Japan, the balance update is instant. The 48 hours thing is for toll usage if I'm not wrong.

RFID is not that useful, especially for those who don't drive cars and rely on public transports. So TnG still gotta improve on the linking feature between the card and app, and also implement the QR code payment system to more LRT stations and also MRT and buses ASAP.

Orait, it's Axiata.

Boost was niche but Favepay it's not attractive for me...

RFID might only useful for motor users, but what's if hybrid e-wallet with NFC phones?
For ideas, just wave phone to buy goodies, passing thru LRT/MRT/KTM without beratur?

It's obvious that TnG is setting their future path on QR code tech instead of NFC, doubt they will fork out another budget to implement NFC tech even though it's a great idea.

Many suggested them to implement NFC tech for linking card to the app, but they said NFC tech is inclusive and not every phones have NFC. Oh well...

Again, I wouldn't expect much on TnG.

I don't think NFC is gonna take off here. First of all, many don't even know what is NFC, even when some of them have NFC on their phones. Secondly, there's no one to give it a headstart and retain a smooth process, Maybank and CIMB tried to do it but both failed badly.

NFC payment is gonna remain exclusive to only Samsung Pay, unless there are any local companies who would like to do it or when Google and Apple decide to launch their payment services here but doubt it's gonna happen even in the future.

Maybank is partnering with Grabpay. But seems nothing happened so far.

QUOTE(wilson1stop @ Aug 24 2018, 11:18 PM)
I see, since Maybank also using PayNet and I'm really don't understand why Banks go partnering with others e-Wallet APPs?
If Maybank QRpay only targeting Maybank users, then this should be small markets already...  sweat.gif

eg. CIMB is jointed with Alipay for developing TnG e-wallet, Hong Leong is partnering with Tencent Wechat Pay, Boost is partnered by Celcom, Vcash is by Digi and so on...
and mostly these Banks was granted e-wallets licenses too...

But Maybank got developed own Maybank Pay (NFC) and Maybank QRpay, maybe they wanna their users using well-known platforms and giving up silently...
Could be same happening to CIMB Pay and HLB PEx too... sweat.gif sweat.gif
(I never saw someone using it, and hardly saw any Merchant promote it too)

ManagePay launches ‘Jelajahi NegaraKu Malaysia’ travel card

http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/mana...sia-travel-card

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 5): ManagePay Systems Berhad (MPay) via a strategic partnership with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has introduced an innovative travel card and loyalty solution.

In a statement today, the company said the program, with the card named ‘Jelajahi NegaraKu Malaysia’ intends to offer loyal MATTA customers with a wide range of perks including attractive cashback and special member discounts when spending with a wide range of travel and lifestyle merchants.

...

“Instead of carrying a large amount of cash, travellers can simply purchase the card, load their Malaysian Ringgit into the card and spend with ease whilst enjoying cashback rewards,” said Tan.

Tan said the card will work seamlessly with MPay WALET, the group’s digital wallet app.

She said cardholders will be able to check their card balance, top up their card and keep track of their transactions from their smart phones, from anywhere around the world.

“On top of that, the deals section of the WALET will also offer attractive travel deals only available exclusive for MPay WALET users.

I'm anxiously waiting for Malaysia to embrace cashless as well, just like China and Japan. So often i find it annoying to fiddle with loose change or heavy wallets. I hope one day i can just tap my phone or card when paying for a cup of coffee at the mamaks.
