If your contract have ended, go to TMPoint to discuss renewal and replacement of all equipment, of course, you have to sign for another 24 months. If you are eligible for the turbo upgrade, do that. Otherwise, go for Maxis, it you want, as it is cheaper..

if my area has good Maxis fibre coverage...i will switch to Maxis

rm129 for 100Mbps is very tempting without the hypptv nonsense...and god knows when tm will upgrade my unifi
*
If your area have UniFi, most likely Maxis is there. Try to check.

QUOTE(roosie @ Aug 20 2018, 05:53 PM)
My experience with Maxis, about 2 years ago, was that I had tons of unexplained issues with PSN. Just kept getting disconnected. Their BTU is exactly the same as the ones from TM. Only their router is crap, a N only wifi, with LAN ports limited to 100Mbps. Only the WAN is Gbps capable.  I believe it was the Technicolor TG784n v3. Can't remember other issues, guess it was either none or insignificant. Never tried torrent.

I junked Maxis soon after, and after switching to Unifi and using it for the pass over 2 years, it has been good with zero issues on PSN.
*
If you use Maxis, you really need to invest for a good router because the one given is not up to par. Use that additional saving to buy a router and enjoy the speed.

QUOTE(ckseng @ Aug 20 2018, 06:18 PM)
I was thinking the same. Paying 179 for 30mbps. Even maxis 100mbps also far more cheaper than tm unifi. No hope
*
Switch if your area has Maxis, and use the saving to get a good router. I had the privilage to use my friend's Maxis when I was in KL 2 weeks ago, speed is as good as Unifi, but not sure about torrent though.

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Aug 20 2018, 06:21 PM)
Don't forget to spread the Maxis 30Mbps news to everyone in your taman.
Kali ni kita kasi potong Unifi secara berjemaah...
*
Cannot lah bro. TM only give certain quota for maxis port, unless your area has own maxis fiber.

Just make sure you negotiate and ask for low cost, as well, as renewal of equipment.

Definitely, if you are from 4 years ago, get everything new. Demand for it. It is your right if you sign for a new contract. But, get your own router, if possible. I recommend the TP Link Archer C7 v4, or the Asus RT-AC1300UHP, if you want something better.

200Mbps about right for 433Mbps link speed for 1x1:1 5ghz 802.11ac at 80Mhz after factoring MAC overhead.

just imagine, suddenly within 4 months, most of us get turbo upgraded from as low as 10mbps to 100mbps and as fast as those 100mbps to 800mbps. can't imagine how the TM infrastructure look liked to coped those demand and bandwidth. no wonder i heard those first batch (aug - dec) got delay until jan next year. those already got upgraded consider 'in testing' by them. lol
