QUOTE(david5343 @ Jun 19 2023, 02:26 PM) Recently I went to some winding road trip with my MT Persona and I started to push it. (e.g. using 3rd gear to reach almost 100kph on a bend) Think all cars with internal combustion engine does that. As your engine heated it's a lot more easier to have pre-ignition. ECU will retard the timing and maybe that's why you feel not as power as it was when cold. Maybe that's the reason why people put a big fan in front of car when they doing dyno also. Just my guess.I noticed some power dropped in high RPM after 1+ hours of driving on the winding road especially when the weather turns hot. Does anyone feel this as well? QUOTE(macyhouse @ Jun 20 2023, 02:46 PM) Just wasted a day on my persona full spec smart car key I don't recall Persona Elegance got a smart key to start with. Persona BH?So, I was having issue with my car key .. cannot open car door with car key .. It's push start so I taught maybe just go in car manually and start car .. Got in car with alarm sound .. buy cannot start car .. key not detected .. wtf 1st TIP .. use your smart car key and use it to press the start button .. it didn't work for me So, I taught key no battery .. change the battery .. still key not detected .. wtf So, taught key rosak .. 2nd TIP .. you can only duplicate the smart key with the car .. I cannot start the car so I cannot go duplicate key .. either at service center or outside shop .. you need the car .. So, need to get car tow to service center .. Went to the outside shop they told me must have car but uncle say probably car battery kong .. I was like .. I had no issue start car at all .. earlier .. car key was the issue .. but kanasai .. was really need to change car battery So the stupid persona needs more power supply to detect your smart car key then actually starting the car .. hold f ZenGTMM add to 1st page if can the bold part This post has been edited by inferno_17_85: Jun 20 2023, 10:23 PM |

QUOTE(Mike3 @ Jun 26 2023, 11:25 AM) Didnt know the thread still so active. It's better to check for your braking system for the spongy feels. But Persona CM has been associated with spongy brake AFAIK.2015 sv owner 190k km service this friday. i still go sc couz lazy to track on my fluids. Mechanical parts alot done outside changed 1) mounting, stering bush 2) drift shaft 3) front absorber, absorber mounting , stabalizer link(i think) gone one question, my break sometimes feel lembut after long driving Master pump? I recently just change brake fluids, its better but still abit lembut SOMETIMES. do we need to service brake calipers? Leaking master pump is one possibility but you should be able to detect the leak at least from reducing braking fluid level. Another possibility is characteristic of your brake pad, it will feel soft if it's soft type. I have changed to metal type and the feedback improved, yet the screeching before reaching operation temperature during morning drive is just annoying. Jammed calipers usually changed one shot when you change brake pads. Maybe you should inspect braking line as well for potential swelling when you brake. All in all, get a trusted workshop to check. Better than guessing in dark. Mike3 liked this post

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Jun 28 2023, 11:14 AM) Hi guys. Have a little question here. Mine leaked from the thread part of hose. As long as you keep top up and wash away the solidified coolant, as well as pay close attention to temperature and leak severity (mine getting worse over time) i think it should be ok to drag until water pump change. Depends really on how fast they detriorate.I noticed the radiator top coolant hose on my car have a bit of leak. Bit of coolant can be seen hardened around the hose. The mechanic used a lot of grey RTV Silicone around the hose, the coolant leaks around the silicone area. Been like this since last April. My car is not losing coolant. Sometimes after a long drive, I can smell the sweet smell of the coolant. Should I get this fixed as soon as possible? I'm planning to get it fixed together when changing the timing belt and water pump when I got the time. |

QUOTE(dannyw @ Jun 28 2023, 07:21 PM) I didn't chane at the end. Went to Proton SC, the mechanic so nice, bring the cap to my car want to change for me, after he tear off the sticker looks dry, then tell me no need to change unless overheat. Still it happened. Maybe what you can do is monitor closely by installing an OBD monitor on water temp. Was thinking is it due to hot weather? so many heat issues on old car. |

QUOTE(dannyw @ Jun 28 2023, 09:10 PM) Touch wood so far so good. Just wonder quite number of people & few cases also relate to heat issues. 78°C or 85°C thermostat? For car that old like ours, might need to check ignition coil also. The ignition boot of campro IAFM cracked easily and can be replaced cheaply. My is idle vibration still not good, some times can feel like short of breath. This happened after change thermostat. Last major service, change ATF, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter and even spray to clean the throttle body but still not improving. Give up already, maybe last is engine mounting. Final thing about it is heat. If you can identify coolant temperature range when breathlessness occurs, it'll be helpful. |

QUOTE(dannyw @ Jun 30 2023, 09:56 AM) Based on my record, i changed once at 77k, now is 150k. What's your mileage when change mounting? I did change once as well at 94k, don't want change so soon, not sure how long this car can last... Theoritically you need to check for misfiring with scantool. But then when my spark plug gone case, there's no such code also hahahahah so maybe our persona don't have sensor for it.78°C, how to check the ignition coil? Mostly on idle, sometimes obvious sometimes ok, when drive is normal. I just monitor see getting worse or not? My current pending issue is Alternator pulley, start getting some minor noise on idle. Check with few foreman some say change the pulley after market, some say no issue, just the noise won't impact anything. There's only so many things that can affect your combustion. For fuel, air and spark you more or less settle the wear and tear items already. Maybe it's wiser to keep close watch before spending money in blind trying to fix it. In some car, faulty ignition coil pack will have overheat white spot. I doubt ours will do that. Commonly spoil for that part of system is the coil boot. Everytime i change spark plug sure one or two koyak. And leaky boot sometimes as per my mechanic said might cause the current to leak out via ground, instead going to spark plug. But still, it won't affect drivability, just some drop in performance and owner satisfaction. dannyw liked this post

QUOTE(voscar @ Jun 30 2023, 10:06 AM) My current mileage around 107k still on original mounting, already earthquake feeling but yet to change. Bro sounds like the connecting part rust and crushing below already.Recently the radiator top water hose attaching to engine side got minor leaking, can see reservoir tank level dropped to minimum. I tried tighten the screw, but it gone loose again in just 1 week. I see the screw end very near to the timing belt area, so last week tried loosen and tighten again and move around a little bit, hopefully fixed it. |

QUOTE(wklow28 @ Jul 26 2023, 05:30 PM) Personally I think the acceleration of our model is better compare to the new Persona. Balancing and alignment all perfect? Some shop will align car wheels to have neutral camber to preserve tyre thread. Think original persona elegance spec will have some negative to it.The only thing is the steering floating feel is more compared to the newer one. Any suggestion on this? Especially when speed go beyond 110 km/h. |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Sep 2 2023, 10:55 PM) Age catching up on our car hahahaha...If 7 years of dog year is our one year, i wonder if there's a similar analogy to car. Edit: Anyway car been having difficulties to start time to time, new starter that changes last year, spark plugs that changed 10,000km ago, and less than 1 year old of batteries. The coil packs that turned brown actually got me suspicious and i changed all 4 of them. Now the engine sounds a lot more better and butt feels more responds. Brought my car to my aircond guy and he refuse to service for me saying that if it's not broken don't touch it. Said it's the weather problem. And one way he can make it cooler is adjust the ratio of compressor oil to refrigerant. His default is 50:50. Increasing percentage of refrigerant will make it cooler but risking longevity of compressor. So i just leave it as it was.

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Nov 11 2023, 10:01 PM) Hey people. Car problem again. This time found that the engine oil totally drained. Underside of the car engine oil splattered everywhere. Visual inspection, seems like the the oil sump is intact, i didn't hit a rock or anything. Could it be leaking from crank shaft? Can only know by you filling it up with engine oil again and observe where the leak was from.Don't know how long this happened, only notice it today when the engine sounds like diesel engine. However with such magnitude it should be easy to track. Maybe need to use carburator cleaner to clean up the mess to see where the leak starts. My car has slow leak from front and rear crankshaft oil seal. But not very fast. Do keep us updated. |

QUOTE(Betrue @ Nov 13 2023, 01:20 PM) If spark plug changed new, hard start should be caused by fuel pressure low. Try change fuel filter and add fuel injector cleaner before filling up fuel. If problem doesn't solves, then should be fuel pump clogged or motor weak ady. If spark plug or ignition coil failed, you'll fill your engine vibrate, engine light on indicate which cylinder misfire. Fuel filter is very common missed maintenance topic. Of course we might need a new fuel pump, but start with cheap and easy option first. On top of that, do check for vacuum leak. My random engine dead issue was found to be manifold connecting tube (the one between throttle body and air filter) leak. And since you open to check already might as well check on throttle body and give it a wipe, maybe carb cleaner spray. Coil pack failure usually can be determined by measuring resistance across two pin of it using multimeter. But your symptom does not seems to point towards coil pack because it would give you irrigular cranking as chances all of four coil pack failing is low. Another would be old starter. But that can wait until it failed only change. This post has been edited by inferno_17_85: Nov 13 2023, 07:52 PM |

QUOTE(delaciox @ Dec 8 2023, 07:39 PM) Hello anyone, my car persona facing the interior light problem Mostly is you got an electrical short somewhere in the system. The lamp switch is off, but the light still show up in dim. The meter when off lamp is bright, but now is dim together. and the rear break light also got dim light. Any help? If you are well versed with electrical job, you can check it yourself for the short or leak using a multimeter. If you are common guy like me, time to get a wireman. Until you do it, do remind to disconnect your battery when you not using your car, if your car even off also got light. |

Thinking to pasang a voltage stabiliser. Charged my phone a lot in my car, coupled with dash cam maybe it'll stress my battery a lot?
Any idea does voltage stabiliser have any differences in this scenario? |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Dec 19 2023, 07:13 PM) Illegal by JPJ. Like tint VLT, enforcement is another issue.Tried RM120 ish LED bulb from Shopee, doesn't like how the light casted from original reflector lamp, and it's not as long lasting as stated, maybe the heat in engine bay damage the bulb from behind. And 6500K light in rain is horrible visibility. Haven't got the money to try PIAA 4000K LED yet so can't comment about it. Went back to cheap and reliable H4 Halogen, use high beam responsibly for better visibility. This post has been edited by inferno_17_85: Dec 19 2023, 10:01 PM |
