Hi everyone, I have a 5900x and I kept it at stock settings for PBO. However when playing COD:Warzone the temps can go up to 82c-84c on average but no performance drop whatsoever. Below is my setup:

Processor - 5900x
Cooler - NZXT X73 Kraken 360
Mobo - X570 Aorus Pro Wifi
Casing - Corsair Carbide 275R

Anything I could be doing wrong here? Thanks.
*
Also, I have tried with platform thermal throttle limit and have it set at 80. Will that be gimping my processor's performance in anyway?

For Ryzen 5600X, what voltage should I target for peak voltage?
If let it run auto, it will peak at 1.45V.
If I put Curve Optimizer -30, it would still peak at 1.4V.
All core load will stay at 1.3~1.35V
Is it safe that way for daily usage?
*
Idk how true this is, but i read some reddit and other forum posts out there saying that 1.35v++ is ok if only a few cores being boosted in short bursts, but its getting unsafe if that 1.35v++ is during sustained allcore boosts.

The cpu will definitely reduce its boosts a bit when it reaches that set temperature, but if u feel that it doesnt affect your specific game performance then why not. smile.gif

Yea.. With AMD CPU so difficult to find now, I am keeping PBO disabled for safety. It never go above 1.2V with -0.068V offset.

Finally able to snatch the Firestrike top spot for 2080ti+5600x after tweaking the PBO CO, PBO Offset and Vcore Offset wheee~

Leaderboard

2nd guy had more Graphics score as me, but the PBO tweak made me pull ahead in the Physics and Combined score and sums up in Overall score

Comparison of individual results

ah_khoo is right, no need manual OC anymore biggrin.gif

Edit: corrected links and added context

Late to the party but I finally managed to grab another unit of 5900X that's IF 1900-capable. biggrin.gif
CTR RC5 says it's a Platinum sample but it could be wrong as this tool doesn't seem to allow me to proceed for tuning. Maybe bugged with the current BIOS etc I don't know though doh.gif

Quickly put on my test bench, it appears that FCLK up o 1966 is POST-able, 1933 benchable but throwing WHEA errors, 1900 is error free so think I will just settle at 1900 for 24/7.

RAM OC on this tiny board is super easy, auto ProcODT and Rtt will work even at DDR4-3800 with minimal tweaking.
Anyway I've finetuned the subtimings a bit to make them looked nicer. tongue.gif

Don't use HWMonitor as it only reports package temp.
Use HWiNFO64 for checking voltages and temps etc.
I personally will focus on that Tctl/Tdie reading for CPU die temp.

Weird I can't even boot my 5900x @4.5 all clock with 1.15v.
I must be doing something wrong. Can only boot and game stable at 1.3v

Board/IMC/RAM are strong, basically I just selected the RAM frequency, manually keyed in the primary timings, vDIMM 1.50v, vSOC 1.2v (auto 1.25v doh.gif )
As mentioned above, this is still my early test without anything being optimized.

I envy ppl who won the silicon lottery...

Never won any silicon lottery in my life, all my past and current cpus are just average bin. Dont have the privilege of some countries where you can return/exchange a cpu because its not a good bin.

Nonetheless I just work with what I have lol.

Anyone have a spare renoir or micron rev E lying around? hands itchy already nothing more I can play around with on my 5600x tongue.gif

No need to be jealous LOL. You just need to keep buying and binning. laugh.gif
Btw those OC numbers above are just stable in Cinebench R20 benchmark, high chance to fail in more stressful tests such as Blender, BFV game etc.
Despite being able to complete CB R20 at 4.6GHz all-core with 1.25v, my chip requires more than 1.325v to pass Blender tests and the temps has already reached close to 90C mark under load. I think I will just settle at 4.5-4.575GHz for 24/7.

Why do you want a Renoir that's 20-25% slower than the Vermeer? For the sake of FCLK 2k+ synced fun?
Not sure still worth it or not though, here's the 4650G @ RM 1019: https://shopee.com.my/AMD-RYZEN-5-4650G-3.7...9675.3281691915
