Just got mine.

Question: Should I install Android Interface now or wait of official Android Auto?
*
Pro and Cons....

Android Interface is independent gadget w/ full Android features including Google Play Store, Youtube, Video Players, Video Input for Dashcam or front cam, Video Output for Headset Monitor, USB files playback, others apps etc.
Android Auto must collect to phone and only use for Navi like Waze/Google Gap, Google Play Music, Answer Calls etc.

Both also using Phone Data Plan either Hot Spot for Android Interface or AA will be direct phone data connection.
Others option for Android Interface will be using the USB Data Sim Modem Dongle but not sure how stable is the connection.

If you op for more playback then Android Interface which act like adding TV Box into your car HU but if you only need navigation then AA might be good enough even though must connect phone using USB Cable (AA WIFI still not stable yet).

Thx

Not forgetting that Android Interface will set you back RM2k or around that
While Android Auto (unofficial) will set you back around Rm400 or so

I am using Gtechniq CS Black 7 years paint protect... the platinum 5 years paint protect is more commonly select by most users.

My car is about ~2.3 years and so far still look great... no regret getting UK Gtechniq....
Total 4 of my family members cars (Altis - Sold, CX5, Myvi & Accord) are using Gtechniq Coating...mostly choose Platinum version.

i will go for android auto anyday. it is specifically designed to assist the driver without much interference. The android interface on the other hand is designed for tab/phone. so the interface itself doesn't really suit the driving assistance. and i don't think we really need to watch movies or youtube upon driving. huhu

Agree it could be distraction to driver, it suppose for back seat passenger or front passenger only....unless you add head rest monitor for back passenger.
Technically I also use more on Google Map and that is why until now still reluctant to purchase it and only useful for my kids at the back if really add on this android interface as well as for dashcam or front cam viewing.

If official AA from Mazda then there will be HW add on to allow 2A charging for front USB Port so should not be just SW add on.
Unofficial 1 then only SW and for those xxx.502 onward which had lock USB port, if need install Mazda Tweak then require certain steps to bypass it by opening up your HU for certain jumper installation if not wrong unless wait for official version from Mazda.

Not easy to DIY for the new HU firmware now. need to open the dashboard and unmount the head unit to get access to the USB port. need to connect to PC and unlock the USB then only can install the mazda AIO and the android auto. for me, i rather pay RM400 to get someone experienced to do it rather than DIY and end up damaging anything. huhu

You are totally right smile.gif
Not easy for xxx.502+ HU FW....HW modify steps require unless willing to wait until official AA from Mazda....

My HU require to upgrade to latest version due to earlier FW causing freq restart and Bluetooth stability and now cant use my initial Mazda Tweak AA d... :~~(

Looks good ... not sure if mine is Platinum or not. But he did say 5 years.
Other brands comes with free maintenance. GtechniQ maintenance is how much and how frequent?

Thanks in advance dude!

I believe 5 years is Platinum and I never ask to routinely go back for maintenance... only back if had problems... so far I only return once due to long duration of time kena dirty water which induce minor water mark.

Right now mazda is producing more petrol variant rather than diesel? I saw on Fb most people received their CX5 are either 2.0 or 2.5.

My SA told me this month Selangor only received 15 units for diesel and his center only got 2 allocation. Up to now still clearing may order. Kena bullsh1t or what idk lah 😂
