just made a booking after thinking many months, for the barebones 2.0 GL
maybe just share abit why:
1. no budget - have a fixed budget for monthly instalments, so cannot take a 90% loan, nor do I want a 9 year loan, currently DP is looking at a cool 30k+, so going for GLS would incur additional 13k..that's like a 10% dp for an E-class
2. it's a second car, hence why budget is an issue, but why maybe able to forgo some of the bells and whistles
3. daily use features that I will have to forgo: keyless entry, front parking sensor, soft touch centre console area (where your thigh would get in contact with) and active safety features
4. other extras are nice to have but not important (leather seat, power driver seat, adaptive led, etc)

on the other hand, still get same passive safety and convenience features (cruise control, bluetooth, auto wiper/lights), so still acceptable

in an ideal world, of course I'd go for the GLS (tried 2.5 and 2.2, and my main ride has about 200ps too, so definitely can't argue on power) but oh well, priorities, priorities smile.gif

First time I've heard of someone place booking and hoping loan application gets canceled. Typically, it's the other way round..  laugh.gif

Not forgetting that Android Interface will set you back RM2k or around that
While Android Auto (unofficial) will set you back around Rm400 or so
*
or free if you DIY it yourself: https://mazdatweaks.com/
the RM400 is a service charge for someone to do it for you

Hi is it worth to get gls above gl version? It is aroumf 14k more expensive

Depends on your budget. If you can afford it, go for GLS.
For me, budget limited, went for GL. All the additional items are nice to have, but personally, not critical as it's a second car.

Just completed modifications for my 2nd Gen 2.0 GLS.

Now equipped with,
SCBS-F/R, LDWS/LAS, DAA, HBC/AFS, Cruise Control/ Adjustable Speed Limiter, Built-in Compass.

Finally, a full 2.2D iactivesense experience. Except for the D experience.

Edit: lets assume AFS + HBC = ALH to comfort my wallet a little bit.

how about MRCC?

For diesel owners, just FYI: http://minato-motors.com/blog/?paged=2&cat=192 Use Google Translate, quite easy to understand.
It's a link to a blog of a Japanese workshop, with a specific blog category on soot accumulation in Skyactiv-D engines, even on relatively low mileage (some cars there have soot accumulated at only 35,000 km). You can see how much soot is there on the EGR valves. Their approach uses dry ice to clean as well as manual cleaning of the various components, it's very interesting to see. Not sure if Mazda has rectified this in newer Skyactiv-D engines, but it'd be good to have it checked?

Relax.. There's a dpf included. It should do it's job. Also why I suggest people should take the car out for highway run say once a week or two at the most. Besides, petrol engines get clogged up too. Really depends on driving pattern and maintenance. And in 5 years when warranty is over, there'll be even more specialist workshops that can handle the maintenance. Probably, better than SC does.

I doubt the DPF helps on this. Japanese models also have DPFs and the photos are evident. Any competent workshop would be able to clean this in one way or the other though.

Hi guys, actually collected my 2.0GL and so far have done about 1500km over the last 2 weeks. It's a second car for my wife, so just to share some random thoughts:

1. The only thing that I miss would be keyless entry. All my other cars also require keys to unlock, but at least after pressing on the remote, then you slot it into the ignition. After you're done, then you turn off the engine, key in hand, step out of the car and lock the car, remote goes to your pocket or bag. Now, the remote needs to be "somewhere" in your car or pocket as you drive. I guess it's just about getting used to it.
2. For a 2.0 SUV, performance is good, handling etc is good. Brakes are noisy as usual. NVH is good, better than it's competitors. A Tiguan might have better driving feel though, as my main ride is a VW, but a Tiguan is also a different price bracket.
3. The non-adaptive LED headlights are bright, but distance wise I think it's not that great, but good enough.
3. Don't miss the lack of leather seats, front parking sensors or active safety features. However, if can afford it, go for it, but no regrets on getting just the GL.
4. Just like any new car, alignment and balancing is a must for me at least. I did manual alignment (non computerised) and on-wheel balancing. The wheels don't vibrate and steering feel is spot on after having it done.
5. The Continental CC LX Sport tyres are okay, not very noisy, but I did get stability control kicking in during some over-enthusiastic driving on damp roads. Definitely will change to something else once their lifespan is up.
6. Fuel consumption - pretty decent for a 2.0 SUV
7. Speakers are decent for stock, but if you're serious about sound, definitely need to do some aftermarket upgrades. Dislike not having CarPlay, Bluetooth sometimes is buggy for me.
8. First 1000km serviced at Berjaya Park SC on a Sunday. No frills service, just do what needs to be done and leave. Can just stand at the back alley and see your car being serviced.

overall, satisfied with it, no regrets considering budget is insufficient for the GLS.
