2.2D, Meteor Gray.

Correct. IMO it's not worth going for 2.5.
Why? Here's my 2 cents.
1. You gotta pay more road tax than 2.0.
2. You get less power and FC compared to 2.2 D
3. You don't get full safety tech like 2.2D like lane departure assist (LAS), lane departure warning system (LDWS), driver attention alert (DAA) and adaptive front lighting system (AFS)
4. The price difference between 2.5 and 2.2D is very small, yet you are missing out everything
5. FC for 2.5 is not as good as 2.0 if you are driving in city most of the time due to higher cc but stuck in traffic
6. The only good thing is the maintenance and repairing cost is lower than 2.2D but like chinese saying, if you are already paying for the chicken might as well pay for the kicap
So my 2 cents here is that if you want power go for 2.2D. If you drive in city most of the time and don't mind the power, go for 2.0 GLS.
Similarly.. But okay la.. Others can want what they want.. Options are always good. Me? I knew I'd regret if i didn't get what will make me fully happy.. So rather than paying so much to have just under what i want? I better pay slightly more to get exactly what i want.. Like you said, purchase price between 2.5 and 2.2D is slim and same with maintenance costs..

different people have diff need I guess.
Unlike 2.5L, the price gap between 2.0GLS vs 2.2D is there, to make 2.0L worth considering.

True.. I did tussle between getting either the 2.0Gls or the 2.2D.. But the engine and you may not believe it.. I'm slightly peeved at the rectangular b&w lcd screen on the petrol variants. Seeing the full circle & colored LCD on the diesel makes me smile every time..

Each to their own, there is no replacement to displacement henceforth 2.5 was a more valid choice in my case, after all we pay road tax once a year and additional RM400 too much of a pinch comparative to 2.0. Fuel consumption has been fair so far a full tank gives me approx 580km mostly highways and not many stop and go traffic.
Price is not far off the 2.2D I agree but I am looking forward for ease of use when refiling the tank and I already have a pickup, ease of engine maintenance is a priority. Avoiding another diesel vehicle was a need for me. Otherwise after owning the car for a few months now, I don't miss LAS, LDWS, DAA and what not. BSM is just nice.
On tap I have sufficient power especially on hilly roads, Loving every second driving it and that's what matters
Fair and valid points. However, Like HUDs and power delivery.. It's easy to not miss something you aren't already used to.. I didn't miss all these tech earlier and coming from a well-tuned for power delivery FD1. My SO & I are suckers for powerful engines that can move the weight effortlessly especially uphills. We stay in KL city center and have driven North & South and each time, there's always some Euro 5 station to pump from. Having a range of 700KM+ eases the mind. Our specs is even more limited as I got a lot of cheaper Petronas gift cards and so have to spend at Petronas stations.. Still a non-issue. So getting Euro 5 is a non-issue for me. Lastly, LKAS and LDW are useful as it:
1. Makes the driving even more effortless as the vehicle intelligently tries to always follow the racing line once it detects both lanes lines.
2. Don't intend for this but who knows.. Safe from micro-sleep induced accidents. I've tested this within the city and on highway.. i.e. Right-most lane, The car actively steers away from the barriers on the right and the line on the left.. Even around corners..
Anyways, as you've pointed out.. Can I drive properly without all these and still enjoy the car? heck yeah, but instead.. i figured, been driving previous car almost a decade. Long overdue to experience the better tech.
