I see the word Exterior. what exterior we talking here?
*
QUOTE
Mechanicals

2.5 litre SkyActiv-G DOHC engine
2,488 cc, four-cylinder petrol
192 hp at 6,000 rpm, 257 Nm at 3,250 rpm
Exterior

19-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 profile tyres

Meaning outside (exterior) the 2.5 variant has a bigger rim size. That's the only difference I can spot between then 2.5 and 2.0 GLS.

The information comes from paultan website itself.

so it is only 2.5L engine and RIM size? (thats what I get from comparing specsheet from official pdf). I was looking for anynthing I miss.  hmm.gif
*
Correct. IMO it's not worth going for 2.5.

Why? Here's my 2 cents.

1. You gotta pay more road tax than 2.0.
2. You get less power and FC compared to 2.2 D
3. You don't get full safety tech like 2.2D like lane departure assist (LAS), lane departure warning system (LDWS), driver attention alert (DAA) and adaptive front lighting system (AFS)
4. The price difference between 2.5 and 2.2D is very small, yet you are missing out everything
5. FC for 2.5 is not as good as 2.0 if you are driving in city most of the time due to higher cc but stuck in traffic
6. The only good thing is the maintenance and repairing cost is lower than 2.2D but like chinese saying, if you are already paying for the chicken might as well pay for the kicap

So my 2 cents here is that if you want power go for 2.2D. If you drive in city most of the time and don't mind the power, go for 2.0 GLS.

There's one problem though.
The availability of Euro5 diesel outside of big cities.

If Euro5 is easily available like Ron97, no brainer

Ahh yes, another cons of 2.2D

Nice! thanks for the in depth comparison. You should put it on TS.

As for 2.2D, i dont think I wanted 2.2D. 2.0 is good enough for me. It s a SUV, why we need power on a SUV if it is mostly city drive, just get a high speed sport sedan.
*
Yea I've included in my first page already.

SUV is heavier than sedan so 2.0 might not give you the zoom zoom power you wanted compared to a 2.0 sedan. That's why some people who wants a SUV and also zoom zoom power will opt for 2.2D laugh.gif

different people have diff need I guess.  laugh.gif

Unlike 2.5L, the price gap between 2.0GLS vs 2.2D is there, to make 2.0L worth considering.  tongue.gif
*
Yea, that's why putting the Euro 5 diesel availability aside, I will opt for either 2.0 GLS or 2.2D. The rest...can be ignored as I felt it's not worth the price but that's just me sweat.gif

Each to their own, there is no replacement to displacement henceforth 2.5 was a more valid choice in my case, after all we pay road tax once a year and additional RM400 too much of a pinch comparative to 2.0. Fuel consumption has been fair so far a full tank gives me approx 580km mostly highways and not many stop and go traffic.

Price is not far off the 2.2D I agree but I am looking forward for ease of use when refiling the tank and I already have a pickup, ease of engine maintenance is a priority. Avoiding another diesel vehicle was a need for me. Otherwise after owning the car for a few months now, I don't miss LAS, LDWS, DAA and what not. BSM is just nice.

On tap I have sufficient power especially on hilly roads, Loving every second driving it and that's what matters

Fair point, each to owns preferences and needs.

Thanks guys for your kind inputs as well, Congrats Duckies long overdue for a better page in lyn. My car lies at home most of the time but recently I have been using it quite frequently. Can't take the skytint anymore, any suggestions? I'm sure its discussed many times but i'l like to ask the new owners as prices vary time to location.
*
It'll up to how much budget are you gonna allocate.

I am on a tight budget so I added an extra layer of Canny Cool tint on the front windscreen. Cheap and good and come with 15 years warranty. The rear and side tint so far still acceptable to me.

If you have the budget can always replace everything with V-Kool, 3M, Raytech and Huper Optik. Huper Optik should be cheaper among all. Should cost about 1.5-2.5k depending on tint specs.

So far, my only complaint would be the front windscreen.. As i got Magnetic shades everywhere else and these do a good job in conjunction with the "shitint".. How about Canny Cool?? Good reviews, fair pricing and 7 years warranty.. I almost went with them.. But can't modify yet till the saga is over..
*
I already added Canny Cool. Cheap and nice but the guys who did the installation is not for the faint of heart...they are fast and rough sweat.gif Might damage ur car a bit in process sweat.gif

Ah, I expected as much.. Seen such handling before.. Hence my reluctance to put the car through such till m main issue is resolved. Lest they use that as an excuse not to deal, especially if some damage done. So how much did you eventually pay for just the front and 15 years warranty? That's a first..  sweat.gif .. Specs changed from our previous discussion? Really significant results compared to previous tint during midday hot sun?
*
Same specs and price as we discussed before. I was told the TSER is around 60% (biar betul) and it cost 300 for front windscreen.

QUOTE(nebula87 @ Jul 20 2018, 02:13 PM)
I see..Are Google Maps and waze able to search Euro 5 diesel petrol station?  brows.gif  That would be better...
But if one day you plan to remove Canny Cool tint, will that affect the first layer?

And i read from the first page, we can have another 2mil tint only to meet the total 6mil limitation.
Wonder will my local tint shop understand what is 2mil or not..  biggrin.gif
*
Future if you wanna remove, you have to remove both layers. Not a big deal for me since skytint is bullshits already.

Solar film tint usually is only 2 mil. Only security tint is thick. By right, front and rear windscreen are not supposed to have security tint so that you can break them during emergency like your car fell into the river.

QUOTE(tehoice @ Jul 20 2018, 02:48 PM)
yeah it is 4mil. actually good enough for many in average day-to-day use lah imho.

security tint normally 6-8 mil. which i think 8mil can be overkill and may damage the power window motor in the long run.

yet, we have seen cases where people can smash the window with just 1-2 attempt(s). no point going for security tint (they can still break it through). so just solar tint will do the job ady.
*
The front windscreen skytint cannot make it. When I drive my car outside the sun shines so brightly til it blinds me even when I am wearing sunglasses. Also the sun light is hot enough to burn my balls. Can't tahan after 2 weeks, terus add on another layer.
