haiz.. i waish he was at arsenal. he was great there.

i tot he was crap for u guys. hmm.gif

meh we played like a bunch of amatuer there. that really show how thin n lack of depth our squad is, we cant even play a decent game without some of the starters, n most of them are still in 'holiday' mode.

2 weeks from the SuperCoppa now, time for Spal to kick some ass in the training ground. biggrin.gif

Friendly: Spurs destroy Roma
Sunday 10 August, 2008
Roma’s dismal pre-season form hit a new low with their 5-0 hammering at Tottenham in which Alberto Aquilani was sent off.

Luciano Spalletti has always stated he was not worried by their poor results in the summer and they went into White Hart Lane without Francesco Totti, Alexander Doni, Rodrigo Taddei, Max Tonetto, Cicinho and David Pizarro.

Nonetheless, they were 2-0 down within the opening five minutes as Artur – again the goalkeeper made howlers – was surprised by a David Bentley free kick, then Daniele De Rossi’s foolish backpass was intercepted by Darren Bent.

The Giallorossi did not manage any kind of a fightback and only Aquilani’s long-range strike on the half-hour managed to test the opposition goalkeeper.

Bentley made the most of another De Rossi error before the break, then Philippe Mexes’ mistake provided Aaron Lennon with a goal and Bent was unmarked at the back post to turn in a corner.

The tension escalated in the final moments and Aquilani was sent off for kicking out at Lennon, his second booking in as many minutes.

It is another worrying result that will spark protests among fans if Roma do not reinforce their squad soon.

The Lupi have played four pre-season friendlies, losing two to Steaua Bucharest and Spurs, while they held Monaco 0-0 and only beat Egyptians Al-Ahly 3-0 after a red card.

Tottenham: Gomes (Jansson 73); Zokora (Gunter 62), Assou-Ekotto (Bale 46), Dawson (Huddlestone 57), Woodgate; Bentley (Gilberto 69), Jenas (O’Hara 69), Modric (King 57), Giovani; Berbatov (Lennon 46), Bent
Roma: Artur; Cassetti, Juan (Andreolli 75), Mexes (Loria 62), Riise (Panucci 46); De Rossi, Brighi; Vucinic (Alvarez 75), Aquilani, Perrotta; Montella (Okaka Chuka 46)

Roma must wait for Baptista
Monday 11 August, 2008
Julio Baptista’s agent has confirmed that Real Madrid have agreed a fee with Roma, but the deal won’t be completed today.

Roma’s search for a striker seems to have led to Baptista after a failed bid for Fiorentina ace Adrian Mutu.

After weeks of negotiations, reports in Spain yesterday insisted that the Brazilian forward would become a Giallorossi player this afternoon.

It has been suggested that Real have accepted a bid of around £8m with £2m to follow in instalments.

However, the decisive meeting between Baptista’s management team of Juan Figer and Herminio Menendez and the Roma directors won’t be taking place just yet.

“I won’t be in Rome on Monday – I have a meeting with Real Madrid,” Menendez revealed to Laromasiamonoi.it.

“Figer won’t be there either. But the deal could be done during the week, even if I’m not sure exactly when.

“Nonetheless, it does seem that Roma and Real Madrid have already agreed a fee for the player’s transfer,” he concluded.

Roma are under still greater pressure to make some moves in the market after their humiliating 5-0 trouncing at the hands of Tottenham yesterday.

whats scary though is roma is prolly 1 player away from a dominant squad. 1 good winger and they can win serie A. I would love to see them win champions league since milan isnt in. and it in rome.....in central midfield they have de rossi, aquilani, julio baptista, pizzaro, and perrotta... very good. upfront totti. i like vucinic on wing, 1 more winger....

Family tragedy strikes De Rossi
Wednesday 13 August, 2008
Roma and Italy star Daniele De Rossi’s father-in-law has been found dead from two gunshot wounds.

The midfielder is in shock after 48-year-old Massimiliano Pisnoli was discovered in a street near the Campoleone station in Latina, near Rome.

The man had been shot twice by a rifle, once in the head and again in the back, but police say the actual time of death could be up to a week ago.

Pisnoli already had some previous convictions for theft and had reportedly escaped a previous assassination attempt.

De Rossi married Tamara Pisnoli on May 18, 2006 and they have a daughter together named Gaia.

The Roma midfielder is one of his club’s top stars and won the World Cup with Italy in 2006

Official - Baptista signs for Roma
Thursday 14 August, 2008
Roma have officially announced the signature of Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward Julio Baptista.

There have been reports circulating since the early afternoon that the two clubs have come to an arrangement and they have now been confirmed.

Baptista is the long-awaited striking reinforcement that Roma have been searching for this summer.

Roma will pay Real £7.1m initially but there will be additional supplements if the Giallorossi reach the Champions League for the next two seasons.

The fee is a great deal lower than the £10m that the Spanish Press quoted earlier in the day.

The Lupi's new boy has signed a four-year deal that will net him just under £2m per season plus bonuses.

Roma are in action this evening against Serie B side Frosinone at the Stadio Matusa.

lol juz as we speak, the deal is done now with Baptista lowered his demands. guess whats the reason ?

"Per mettere d'accordo le parti decisiva una telefonata di Doni al compagno di nazionale per cercare di abbassare un po' le pretese del giocatore."

Doni called him n hav a chat, n finally convinced Julio to lower his demands. lol i never know Doni can b THAT persuasive. biggrin.gif

according to official statement, the fee is 9mil euro (with 1mil extra if we qualify for CL for next 2 season) with around 2.25mil wage for Baptista... wow, a good biz i must say. Grazie Prade.

finally some good thing abt our transfer market... Forza the Beast ! tongue.gif
