I have no idea where did you people heard these kind of rumors from but I need to clarify in here, to proof that no matter you switch to which region, you still connect to your wifi and surf internet in full speed.

Please do not bother about the region issue because we still can connect to wifi no matter in which channels. I have receive a PM recently, someone keep asking me this question. Indeed, it is not too much for you to worry about the channels issue.

It actually doesn't matter whether you switch or not to switch to Asia region because it is not a big issue, you still can connect your wifi in China region.

Asia region


For China region, the 2.4GHz got all 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 channels and 5GHz got 149, 153, 157, 161, 165 channels.

For Asia region, the 2.4GHz also got all 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 channels and 5GHz got 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165 channels.

So you can see, the only different is Asia region got 4 more channels "36, 40, 44, 48" for you to choose but why do you need to struggle about the region issue? I have really no idea about your people doubtful.

In Asia region, my router still can connect to channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165, so why do you need to force yourself to connect to channels 36, 40, 44, 48?

I can still get my China set connect to Unifi, so what do you worry for?




Maybe in the previous post at few weeks ago, I did say have to telnet the territory. It is "optional". You do not necessary to do like that.

The only different is China region do not has google play logo only. The China set Asus router do not link you to Google play store but they got a specific apk store, 豌豆荚. You do not need to struggle about this issue because you can search manually in your phone Google play to download the apk too.

I was flashed to merlin firmware, then flash back again to asus stock firmware because do not have aimesh in merlin custom firmware.

no, China set was locked to the build serial no. according to snbforums. So no matter where you download the firmware from, either asuswrt-Merlin or Asus official firmware download from Asus Malaysia. It is still showing your Asus firmware as China territory. You only can telnet into the router to temporary edit its territory to Asia Pacific.

However, it will still change back to China territory after you reboot the router. Anyway, this is not a big issue because the China set still can adjust to English interface and set it to Asia region without problem.

Just change settings to Asia region it will remaining in Asia region but just the territory was locked to China. It not a big issue, you still can set to Asia region in China territory. It won't change back to China region but if you telnet it to Asia Pacific territory, it will revert back to China territory after you reboot the router but settings inside the router still remaining Asia region, don't worry.

No advantages, just for the purpose of change language besides from Chinese/English.

I think if you buy from tmall, all the routers price are after taxed by China government but no need to pay duty to the local customs. Just receive my router from abxexpress without customs detention.

I'm using the official taobao forwarder, you can consider it as direct ship.

you can choose either direct or manual. Both are the same, direct is automatic. The seller do not ship to Malaysia but the taobao official did.

If you choose direct ship, which mean your item is automatic redirect from taobao warehouse.
If you choose manual, which mean your item just put into taobao warehouse and wait for your order.

The manual option is good for saving shipping cost because you have to buy more than 1 items in the same time then combine all of them to ship out together to Malaysia.

Yes, the sellers are not aware about you are buyers from overseas because the address will automatic generate to the address of taobao warehouse during checkout.

Sellers are just the sellers, they are just selling item only. It's taobao to manage everything between buyers and sellers. The shipment is managed by taobao but not the sellers.

About the overseas shipment questions, please do not ask the sellers because they know nothing. You only can ask the sellers about the product information.

For shipments question, I think you better go to ask the cainiao - taobao warehouse and overseas freight department.

yes, you need to switch to China location to check out. then choose Malaysia address to ship out. here is the trick. I was received mine within 5 working days start count from the date of dex-i tracking. Usually sellers part are shipping out via ZTO express. So don’t worry about your item, the router confirm can ship out through the taobao warehouse.

you only can do that when you have purchased items.

You still can connect the China set with Asus stock firmware to unifi without necessary of flashing the router to Asuswrt Merlin. You can switch to English language if you not understand Chinese.
The China set Asus router only has limited 2 languages which have Simplified Chinese and English only.
