actually I am having the same problem too but mine is 500mbps. I'm using AC86U too but Unifi not always achieve 500mbps and speed fluctuate between 400~470mbps for most of the time.

Yesterday I was received more stuffs from taobao to upgrade and replace the power adapter for my RT-AC86U.

Firstly, I was bought a router wall shelf to put my BTU and router. Then replace the Asus original 2 pin China socket to UK socket power adapter.




Then bought a pair of fans to attach on to my RT-AC86U but the double taps do not attach firmly and will drop down because the air flows are too strong. So I was tried to tie them up with wires along the antennas to avoid the two fans drop down.


After that, I was bought two Cat7 LAN cable too. To replace my BTU > router > gigabit switch old cat6 cables.




After replace the Cat7 cable, my BTU don't has enough space to put on the tray because the Cat7 cable behind are too thick and hardly to bend it. So I was rotated the BTU to put like this, then attach one more custom made fan on the BTU.

You can choose either direct to Malaysia or ship to China warehouse first then redirect to your Malaysia address.
If you choose ship to warehouse, meaning that you can buy as many items as you can. So later that, you can combine altogether to redirect from their warehouse to your Malaysia address. Use this method will save up much of shipping cost if you buy many items.

If you choose ship to China warehouse. You need to login your taobao, to check your warehouse status manually. Wait for the forwarder to update your warehouse status. After your items arrive to warehouse, then you have to pay the shipping cost later.



warehouse status can be checked by click into this link. If the page inside is empty, meaning that your item not arrive to warehouse yet. Have to wait for update in that page.

You can try too, anyway actually I did search through the taobao website and notice that US version is far more cheaper than China version. So sad they do not ship out from China. I think it is the same thing but just for the US version is selling cheaper than their China version. For Malaysian, we only can buy the China version from tmall. I guess it's all the same thing, just the US version is excluded tax but the China version is included tax (China customs).

The sellers got specify out that items is used/refurbished items. They are selling depends on the condition of that items. If 90% like new, they will selling for higher price if 70% condition then selling cheaper.

Last time, I was bought a cheap used AMD R7 370 (R9 370) for CNY354. In Malaysia here, I can only buy a cheap used GTX 750 Ti in this price range.

AC86U is 1.8Ghz dual core better performance, AC88U is 1.4Ghz dual core slightly lower performance compare to AC86U.
If for me RT-AC86U is more than enough because my unifi is 500mbps, I does not necessary need to keep connect with my main router because my main router is not located in living room.

AC88U has AC3100 compare to AC86U just has AC2900 but there is not much different for me.

AC88U is an older router released at 2015, AC86U is released at 2017.

AC86U only got 4 LAN ports but I just need to connect 1 LAN port to my 16-port gigabit switch. So I got 15 LAN ports+2 more LAN ports on my main router and another 1 for IPTV, so I do not need to bother with the numbers of LAN ports.

hi guys, I got good some good thing to share with you all guys for who bought Asus router from China.
I was found a method to switch this China router to Asia Pacific version.
I was noticed that this router only got 2 languages only. Either English or Simplfied Chinese. So I guess I need to do something tricks to change the region of this router firmware to Asia version.
**Unfortunately, the region will restore back to China region after reboot. So you need to redo this method again.

First of all, you need to login into your router and switch on telnet. Go to administration > system, then switch telnet to "Yes"


Then download and install Putty here

Start Putty, then login 192.168.1.1 as telnet mode and leave port as 23


Now login your router with your router username and admin password [your router password]. You will see the screen as below:


Now type this,
nvram set territory_code=AP/01
nvram=commit



Now login your router through browser and check for the change
Some of the proof:
as you know, China was blocked Google play.


before that, only got English and Chinese Simplified


The wifi region is no longer showing China as default region.

Usually third party forwarder treat customs restricted items as sensitive items. Especially for me because I'm living in Sabah here. This item at least has 2kg.

If I buy from other sellers by mypost online, the first 1kg is RM45, follow by the next 0.5kg is RM17. So, 2kg should be RM45+RM17+RM17 = RM79.


That's why I don't like to use third party forwarder, especially for me people from Sabah and Sarawak. The taobao official shipping cost just CNY56.5 and direct ship from China to Sabah. No need to pass through KLIA. I was using their taobao official service for so many times already. Cheap and fast.

really? I am thinking of wait until 11.11 to grab one more RT-AC86U for building aimesh.

So far have no issue from other sellers beside from Tmall sellers. I was bought many items from taobao including the non-tmall sellers. Other sellers are selling cheaper, actually they are selling the same thing. There got many cheap 2nd hand used items too which are selling by other sellers such like used motherboard, used graphics cards, used cpu, used RAM, used sound cards. I was bought all these used items from there before, so far is satisfying and all of them are working fine. My home 2 desktop PCs already been used for many years, some parts inside are bought directly from taobao. My current desktop PC is using a used AsRock motherboard which bought from taobao, already using for many years, no complaint at all. Everything are working great.
