Someone was asking about building up a bike. This article is a good place to start. Also, just Google bike build spreadsheet, so you don't miss out on anything |

Hi all sifus,
New member here at the rB section. Im a beginner for RB, but have been riding awhile on MTB or Foldies. Not hardcore or avid, but more on frequent casual short rides. Seeking for info on what decent budget alloy wheelset to look for..budget say around RM1500 and below, new or old, that performs better than my stock Axis wheelset. My ride is currently an older Allez Comp 2014 model. Can you point me which pages to read for, or any suggestions for my case?. Been reading a bit on the Fulcrums 5 LG and 3 tho. |

QUOTE(tcb2010 @ Jul 13 2018, 05:25 PM) Thx KCTY for the heads up. how much? dunno if this matters, but with their mtb wheels, i heard it was a bit difficult to find replacement freehub. maybe wont be a prob with rb, as rb dont wear down stuff as quick as mtbAnyone has the experience of the Novatec Jetfly wheelset, seem to get positive reviews in the net. Price quite attractive for a new set. |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Jul 15 2018, 09:04 PM) Guys, Red is recommended and more uniform like all road transport so ppl roughly know which direction you are facing. For tail light blinker, better to have red only or there are some options with red/blue or red/white? Which one is good for visibility? Any recommendation of good visibility rear blinker? I'm using the Lezyne Strip Drive and it's rated at 100lm. It's pretty bright due to the optics. Brighter than those Usjcycles bundled Cateyes(the RM150-200ish range). This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Jul 16 2018, 09:19 AM |

I have a small blue blinker on my helmet for emergency uses(stopping roadside for Tube change) or those far away ride into kampung road with no road/street light, make car driver more aware of you. (Intentional to make them think there since police ahead.) For my own bike I used cateye rapid x2 kenetic. Wide spread for ppl see you from side* (very important) |

BTW, since most bike have reflector on the flat pedal, and most of us swap to clipless pedal, basically our bike doesn't have anything reflective (for those with all black bike, all black clothing, all black kit helmet gloves etc) sometimes we don't know our rear light battery runs out. It is very dangerous! (Like how im annoyed by irresponsible cyclist when driving my car, scare the shit out of me) I advise ppl to stick some reflective sticker on their helmet or bike frame (rear direction, red reflective sticker) for their own safety.

QUOTE(aquilaTE @ Jul 17 2018, 08:27 PM) Sometimes, it's not the lumens alone but the optics that help enhanced and spread the lights better. Thanks for sharing bro. Here's some reading material... https://roadcyclinguk.com/gear/buying-guide...ar-bike-lights/ |

QUOTE(jaykay4540 @ Jul 19 2018, 03:59 PM) tri suit got padding at butt area for cycling? Hey buddy! That's an interesting questionwant try dualthlon. diff suit or can use cycling pants terus? Most people would get a trisuit which has minimal padding which is suitable for both running and cycling But there are some who still runs in their cycling bibs too, so it really depends on what you are comfortable with. Go ahead and take the leap! A new sport might encourage you to be much more competitive! |

I had this funny moment at traffic light in the evening where some mat motor passes by pointed out at my bike that my DIY LED light strips are much brighter than hilux and vios who also had the same LED lights (SMD 5050 type) next to me. That driver had that funny look at their face thinking why that bicycle had better lightings despite using same LEDs and even confuse how did i power it, lol. Thanks to mat motor for giving a thumbs up.

I dunno how to relate but here's the geometry from Merida's website including a link to their frame calculator. Do note even with the frame calculator saying I need size 53, I had the shop did mine and got a size 50 frame.

QUOTE(chinti @ Jul 20 2018, 03:37 PM) hi everyone, i wan to order a merida scultura 400. but im not sure should i get S(50) or XS(47) frame size. wow.... inseam 73, and -5cm ape index, thats a tough bike geometrymy height is 170cm, inseam 73cm, wingspan 165cm, shoulder 44cm the shop i went dun have the XS size bike for me to test. anyone here got XS bike that are willing to let me test awhile? can treat u yamcha seem like u got pretty short leggy and short hand with long body advise is look at the bike chart for your height and get 1 size smaller *edit, but i would agree also if someone with XS frame bike could go yamcha with him and test it out. at least he can refer to the XS bike brand geometry and compare to this scultura to estimate the size needed. i highly doubt the S size would fit his inseam height. XS or maybe XXS is suited, but the XXS also is bad as the headtube stack height is too low for his short arm. XS it is! This post has been edited by ieR: Jul 20 2018, 05:36 PM |

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Jul 20 2018, 05:33 PM) body height vs wingspan. resulting your ape index, decide what kind of body you are.positive ape index are good for bike fitter as they can easily accustom to any reach and stack (wider range) compare to negative ape index ppl are limited to stack and reach (narrow range) |

Frame 47 XS will be ideal for you, mainly based on your inseam. Standard 40cm handlebar and stem need change, you have broad shoulder. my height is 170cm, inseam 73cm, wingspan 165cm, shoulder 44cm the shop i went dun have the XS size bike for me to test. anyone here got XS bike that are willing to let me test awhile? can treat u yamcha |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Jul 20 2018, 01:45 PM) Here are the photo how i connect my LED strip to my bike below, its very easy just solder each end (+ / -) terminal to connect to other different LED strip and route the cable to saddle pouch that carry the battery. The LED strip already have sticky 3M tape that stick firm and strong on any frame surface. Its like 10 minutes DIY work. Cooking Megi is much harder than this. Else go to car acessories shop they can do it for you if you can't solder. For 12V battery you can find at any torch light shop of R/C toy shop. The best this about this LED strip on bikes is they are 100% durable, ultra waterproof, lasts forever, superlight weight and doesn't look obvious (if your bike color is white). On seat post and handle bar i use black color LED strip to blend nicely with the bike outlook so no body knows it has an LED well hidden. You can see the wire bridge-ing from battery power at seat post all the way to my handle bay without looking too clunky. Total weight of the setup is far lighter than your rear light AA battery blinker.LED strip installation photo: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by SupermotoXL: Jul 21 2018, 09:32 AM |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Jul 31 2018, 09:42 AM) I did not really focus on the Watt when doing training on Zwift. Instead, I keep my cadence above 80 at all times and some stage I did 100-110 rpm for a few minutes. Should I continue the same or Watt training is better for improvement? I can't really suggest much as im a novice myself but few of the perks of zwift are that abundance of group rides and training plans. Those group rides (some are even with pros) are very specific which you can use to focus on your goals. In your situation, you might want to train on endurance. Pick one of the group workouts available and if none matches your available time, then move on to the training plan. I do ride at Watopia / London aimlessly whenever im bored with the training plans and wanna do something different but most of the time, im with either training plan or group workouts. For last 6 weeks, I just rode 2-3 times only and causing my stamina drop alot especially after 30km. After 30km, the speed only around 20kmph or so. Finding way to improve my speed as well as endurance. Oh yeah, don't forget to do FTP test prior to these workouts as its tailored to your FTP. So, it doesnt matter if you FTP is 120w and some of other people are at 400w, you are still going to move at the same speed. https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/ https://whatsonzwift.com/group-workouts/ |

The while point of zwift is to train with power and making indoor ride less boring. Improving your power output will improve your riding.

Having that said, I find myself able to produce higher power at lower cadence with relatively lower effort, somewhere around 75rpm rather than 90rpm where many ppl claim to be more optimal

Any Wheelset sifu can advice me on a wheelset. Im interested in a used older American Classic 420 Aero 3 Alu wheelset. But the rim is narrow, not exactly sure bout the inner width, but lesser than wider norm 17C for sure. Is there anyone who tried running them with wider 25mm tires, and apart from probably balloon look..any issues ? Any advice will be appreciated. |

From Miaopurr article, i know now it can fit and works on the narrow inner bed. |

Rm2k can get u good alloy at the same or lighter weight with better hubs! And reliable braking. A lot of time we get blinded by price point and dump reliability aside. Surprisingly, HUNT (uk) also falls into the "cheap china" wheel catagory after I inspect my friend hunt, it's build with Taiwan cheap parts! His bearing and freehub pawl(suspect novatec) a bit worn off after 400km only. I felt he was dupe by HUNT. |

Guys,
To gain more stamina or endurance as well as lose weight, is it better for me to cycling on trainer with HR beat consistenly at 160bpm or do burst like train a few minutes at 180bps or so then cool down to 120-130bps and do burst again? |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Aug 4 2018, 01:19 PM) Guys, I guess endurance requires lots of aerobic workout rather than short burst / strength. So, you need to work out your slow twitch muscles more. So, do a constant heart rate workout over a period of time, like 160bpm over 2 hoursTo gain more stamina or endurance as well as lose weight, is it better for me to cycling on trainer with HR beat consistenly at 160bpm or do burst like train a few minutes at 180bps or so then cool down to 120-130bps and do burst again? https://www.verywellfit.com/fast-and-slow-t...-fibers-3120094 Some article above about slow and fast twitch |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Aug 4 2018, 01:19 PM) Guys, actually this is very deep. because, a body builder told me, our body is very very special and adapts very quickly, after consistently doing the same thing over, your body will adapt and find way to do the same routine with minimum power. so whatever you do, you burn less and less and less no matter how much you do it. i take bits of his advises and apply this way.To gain more stamina or endurance as well as lose weight, is it better for me to cycling on trainer with HR beat consistenly at 160bpm or do burst like train a few minutes at 180bps or so then cool down to 120-130bps and do burst again? Go Out a ride, (usually is tuesday)one day do high speed riding, ride at max your heart rate can take till bonk (20-40km distance of high speed). day two easy spin (recovery) to get rid of the lactic acid build up day three find some hilll and train (dont look small at hills! even riding 10kmh can easily max out your heartrate too, find a loop of hills, and do laps, 5 maybe? 10? or target 500m or 1000m elevation) day four easy spin (recovery or rest day for leg, coz hill climb is no joke) day five, fun ride, can easy do interval day six, i believe is sunday, go for endurance ride, 100km-160km day 7 (monday) recovery. repeat. after 6 month you'll notice your weight dont drop much but maintain, thats when your muscle weight comes in. and your muscle's food is fat, thats when you notice a smooth burning sensation everynight during sleep. its chomping away your fat. (non of the above is true, just a way to make you go out and ride |

basically in other language,
day 1 dedicate to heart rate building and muscle building (flat road muscle) day 3 dedicate to muscle building (mostly climbing muscle) day 5 keeping your muscle warm day 6 endurance training. day 7 rest (but u can go for recovery ride) u can choose to swap day 5 and 6, so u get rest on day 6+7 you see, riding outdoor not only uses leg, it uses your whole body to build core muscle, your arm, your mind coordination and reflexes, and even your chest flexs, due to your body weight during riding, you compress your chest a lot.... those you dont get from trainer because you get to lazy around to find the most comfortable position, heck u even can pedal sitting straight up like mtb. |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Aug 4 2018, 01:19 PM) Guys, If you into endurance kind of ride, I'd say go for zone 2 training, pretty much volume workout instead of intense one. QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Aug 5 2018, 06:47 PM) Thanks all for the answer. Every brand has their own chartBy the way guys, i am thinking to buy a bike for my wife but I am unsurr how long she will ride. Some, S = 47, suited for height 168-176 Some, S = 52, suited for height 164-172 Some, S = 50, suited for height 168-172 So please refer back to the brand chart for each bike geometry. You have less worry. Women, has longer inseam(leg) to man. So prehaps both you and wife and very close inseam. So it's not difficult to share a same bike geometry. |

Few of my choices so far: 1) Used American Classic 420 Aero 3 2) Used Zonda / Fulcrum Racing 3 3) New Fulcrum Quattro LG 4) Used Novated Jetfly ( good net reviews but nobody seem to know bout it) 5) Used Mavic SLE Exalith ( condition good but price at RM2k, worth it??) 6) New Mavic Kryserium Elites 7) Prolite C50 Carbon wheels ( thrown in for opinion seeking) Thats bout all im looking at for thr price range of <RM2k, and i kinda prefer a bit aero like 30mm profile> One more thing, now that rims gets wider, to make tires run wider ( a fitted 25mm become like 28mm)..does it really noticaeble impact? or its all just mktg talk? |

Shimano ultegra wheels, good, cheap and tubeless ready iinm. I wouldn't buy used wheels given our lack of maintenance culture here. |

QUOTE(chinti @ Aug 6 2018, 05:23 PM) You only use it when there is a puncture and touch wood, I have not experience yet. It's more expensive than using a hand pump but it saves time. On the other hand, CO2 air needs replacing once you get home after your puncture coz the air escapes from the tube overnight. |

QUOTE(aquilaTE @ Aug 6 2018, 11:12 AM) Since you mentioned novatec... how are their wheelset? I heard from here(Jetfly) they're light and reliable? Was contemplating between that and Fulcrum Racing 5 LG... give and take, you get what you pay. i wont say they are bad, just, buy kancil get kancil lor about fulcrum, their wheel are consider cheap in my opinion, but wait till your first repair, spoke coz 2-3x then standard spoke, axle cost rm4xx up to 1k for the higher end, really one time a friend crash into me (front rider jam brake, i no choice jam also...my wheel actually hit his rear wheel already, from rear my friend ram into me, his fulcrum zero spoke bend... rm50 each wtf) go for fulcrum racing quattro lg if budget allowed QUOTE(aquilaTE @ Aug 6 2018, 02:07 PM) For the saddle bag, I usually put my extra tubes, tyre repair levels, a couple of CO2 and an inflator and a multitool. The top tube bag is new(and I bought too big), so for now, just keys and handphone and a few sachets of energy pack if I do ride long distance. I haven't got a race jersey so top tube bag for now. Doing away with waist pouches as that is for MTB-ing. later i post i how pack XD i think lets start a sharing of how you guys pack when riding. QUOTE(sunghajung11 @ Aug 6 2018, 02:14 PM) Hi guys, you are fine. Can I know what tyre pressure u use for 25mm tyre? I was told to put 110psi to avoid puncture. Currently putting 90psi at 67kg weight 25c 50-70 - 80-85psi (yea i got many cyclist friend get off with this, and its also more comfortable) 60-70 - 85-90psi 70-90 - 90psi-100psi 90kg - 100-110psi for 23c, add 10-15psi more to above mention weight im running 80psi on 28c |

Concern bout those horror stories of Cheap Carbon wheels exploded or rupture during high speed..not sure if those are true or not.. im using a 1.480kg wheelset with 50mm rear, for about two month now. still i struggle to pull the wheel, uphill terus get drop from group.Few of my choices so far: 1) 2) Used Zonda / Fulcrum Racing 3 (check the bearings first. some has dmg to cup and cone, and they cost a bomb to replace. (my friend got quote rm5xx)) 3) New Fulcrum Quattro LG - 4) Used Novated Jetfly ( good net reviews but nobody seem to know bout it) 5) Used Mavic SLE Exalith ( condition good but price at RM2k, worth it??) - 6) New Mavic Kryserium Elites - 7) Prolite C50 Carbon wheels ( thrown in for opinion seeking) 1.777 kg for carbon wheel+50mm. Thats bout all im looking at for thr price range of <RM2k, and i kinda prefer a bit aero like 30mm profile> One more thing, now that rims gets wider, to make tires run wider ( a fitted 25mm become like 28mm)..does it really noticaeble impact? or its all just mktg talk? wider rim, prevent lightbulb/balloon effect, which does create stability during corner, and increases the volume of air inside, introducing better cushioning (comfort) and reduce the risk of pinchflat(snake bike, or puncture created by self pinch from hitting pothole or big rock) speed? no idea. but comfort mean u dont stop pedaling or slow down from pedaling when on bumpy terrain. |

this my setup when m evening/night ride within the city, carry only 1 camelback 720ml bottle middle pocket will have my phone + phonebag + id + cash left pocket the topeak tool kit/pack. i love it comes with mini torque tool(bits) so u can easily deal with those carbon seatpost/handlebar issues right pocket i bring the spare on my right pocket + energy gel incase i got bonk (skipping dinner) riding non planned route. when im doing endurance/sunday morning ride, usually daytime + outskirt of city, i needed 2 bottle of water, the toolkeg will be remove, taking only the tube+co2 in my left pocket, moving the topeak toolkit to my middle pocket with my phone. i have no need of the spare lights on daytime, so will put pack with more food/choc/saltpill etc 80mm valve tube is very important as a lot ppl might be using 50mm wheelset and they dont have spare valve extender, rendering those short valve tube useless. missing from my setup is a chain cutter, but its very very rare for a roadie to break their chain, so its fine. ohya, my house/car key usually will drop into the toolkeg when riding. else will be in my left pocket. |

I probably ditch it once I get my first race jersey this weekend as well as the fear of things falling out of my back pocket. |

Now I keep everything inside my jersey pocket whether for normal ride or racing. I somehow feels annoyed looking at saddle bag on my bicycle, same with the front light. Never own front light before (i do own a rear blinker) even though i used to do a lot of night rides. Found them to be bulky, unnecessary extra weight and the design doesnt match the bicycle. Its like buying an expensive phone and then wrap it in a bulky ugly phone cover where by the end it looks like a brick. Just my personal view on saddle bags and front lights Yup, doing just that since day 1... just that using a pouch/saddle bag in the meantime... |

Just my personal view on saddle bags and front lights I need both the front and rear lights as 70% of my cycling is at night as I always put safety first. Am using those streamlined lights therefore bulkiness and weight isn't a problem... I probably am the opposite of you in terms of expensive handphone metaphor, I still value function over form... thus the saddle bag and the ugh... top tube bag This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Aug 7 2018, 12:11 PM |

QUOTE(rads78 @ Aug 7 2018, 11:35 AM) I used to have saddle bag.... which was ages ago. Stopped using them a while back. Just my personal view on saddle bags and front lights small n compact![]() |

I have the red version of it plus the Lezyne Strip Drive for rear blinkers. The front, I am currently using the Lezyne Microdrive but I may switch to the cheap white one when I do GCE or other day riding... |

Just don't abuse it too early until supplier/shop start carry their repair tools. Else they can't repair they end up using hammer force pry to open it (you don't want that) Yes I using 38 + 50mm combo. I seriously didn't expect the 50 to be that heavy to pull even it's a really light under 800gram rear wheel.... I'm just too weak :cries: |

That's the rm10 light from DIY shop or supersave shops. ![]() It's cheap. Highly recommended. Get a old puncture tube, cut them to make small O ring/band, tie one on frame, one on helmet(yes helmet give better angle of view)... Rm20 spend on good rear blinker light. Problem, 6 month down the road, the battery or usb head rosak and can't charge. But still, it's cheap! White light blinker in front is wonderful, as it's more annoying and catches driver attention more. There is always 2 type of front light, blinker to alert other ppl, and light to illuminate, unless your area is filled with street light, a proper illuminated light is good for dark road or kampung road or some lorong lorong tepi longkang.... U dun wanna end up in longkang don't you? I love my cateye hyper constant. Both blinking and illumination together. |

Good idea for the helmet lighting as my previous came-with-helmet rear blinker is already a goner. So far these two Lezyne lights have been serving me well for a year plus now. Just need these el cheapo as backups for the longer nite haul. |

I modded my sun storm dual led light to connect to a GoPro and Garmin dual mount so it is positioned in the centerline of the handlebars. The power cable runs into the saddle bag under the saddle.
The rear light is a tiny cheap Moon unit that runs on AAA rechargeables. |

That's if you love your rim so much but think of the wear and tear over the years, the rim brake track is mostly wear out too. Unless you are running disc brake, then your rim will be in fairly good condition. So you can swap out the hub. If hubs are koyak or parts unavailable, can we go the option of replacing with hubs of other brand? What about spoke lacing with existing rims? Im thinking since many wheels have custom spokes pattern and count, is this an issue when it comes to just replace hubs? Unless it has crazy spoke count, it should be pretty easy to rebuild. On one note though, those rim rely on very little or fancy spoke count, are very difficult or can't be "true" to 99%. They rely on the rim itself to be "true" so if the rim are bend from crashes, it's kinda useless after that point. I'm just planning ahead, kinda pointless to fork out more money for repair than buying a new wheels. I had mine custom build with dtswiss hub 240 db, Sapim cxray (most affordable spoke), custom assymetry rim. |

Hi mates,
Not a rb question, but can anyone suggest a bike shop that has good mechanics to install MTB tubeless setup. Im asking for a beginner friend who just bought a new TR MTB wheelset, but a few bike shops, around PJ area, none seem to be interested in setting it up, with various reasons like mechanic N/A, no sealant, too busy etc... Even the shop that he buys from doesnt have mechanics around..what is going on with bike shops in KL, PJ...only sell stuffs but dont do much servicing? |

Check-in at 6pm and tech briefing for all cyclists at 715pm. They will close roads to LEKAS at 5pm. You need to go thru the back way to LEKAS office thru Bandar Teknologi Kajang.... |

Have been doing some survey on local bike fitting service:
Vo2Max: RM750 LittleRock: RM700 Cyclery Damansara Perdana (Retul): RM880 Specialized Bangsar: RM700 PedalUp Cycle (GuruFit) : RM600 Custom Bike Fit (Wong): RM290 SA Bike (Owned by prev Ironman MY champion) : RM150 CM Bike Sports: RM200 Given the huge price variance/gap, is it worth going for the first 2? After all, we might need to refit once we change saddle, pedal, etc in the future. Anyone done any bike fitting from any of the above or even other places? QUOTE(ChipZ @ Aug 18 2018, 11:54 PM) Have been doing some survey on local bike fitting service: dont just see the price, u have to ask, what kind of fit they do? some are more like "bike sizing"(i personally call it bike sizing) what they do is basically make sure your leg reach pedal, your knee dont overlap your spindle, those thing you can watch from youtube lulz or when u first buy a bike, they give "a free bike fit" (which basically same like a bike sizing style)....Vo2Max: RM750 LittleRock: RM700 Cyclery Damansara Perdana (Retul): RM880 Specialized Bangsar: RM700 PedalUp Cycle (GuruFit) : RM600 Custom Bike Fit (Wong): RM290 SA Bike (Owned by prev Ironman MY champion) : RM150 CM Bike Sports: RM200 Given the huge price variance/gap, is it worth going for the first 2? After all, we might need to refit once we change saddle, pedal, etc in the future. Anyone done any bike fitting from any of the above or even other places? bike fitter has a lot of service, some has saddle pressure check(and they do know whole range of saddle and their behavior!!! which suit or does suit your bum), pedal/clip shoe setup and fitting, some price include a 1 year subscription of free call in/return(to shop for 2nd refit if you change saddle) service. hence the vary in price. "some" is 1 fit price (they dont answer your question when u have issue after the fit). bike fit start with body flex check, ape index, check stack and reach high on their machine (not your bike), test the stack reach setting on their machine, and video you on your bike, before and after new setup, refine tuning, talk about your habit (some ppl have V engine pedaling style) talk a lot about bad habits and right way to ride or your body cant ride the proper way due to injury or body issue, ways around it etc. very very details way to improve... so the Price Justify Nothing. as different fitter provide very different range of service. |

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Aug 20 2018, 06:14 PM) A few friends went to him. One went to him, then went to Vo2max, said Vo2max much better. The ones who only went to Little rock didn't have much complaints. Vo2max doesn't have a free follow up session, any issues just email him. Did with Vo2max end of 2016, happy with his service |

The bike fitter and rider feedback will help determine the adjustments needed for the fit. People trust Vo2max because Patrick's background is in exercise physiology i think little rock owner is also a physiology background, and he does more traveling bike fit and remote bikefit |

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Aug 18 2018, 11:54 PM) Have been doing some survey on local bike fitting service: I went for a fitting at Wong custom BikeFit. I guess it's affordable compare to the others. At the moment I cycle well with minimum aches or whatsoever. However my only complain is that there were no measurements done, for example inseam length, torso length, height etc. All the fit is based on visual, a bit sceptical on the method. If you look at the bikes he has fitted on Instagram or Facebook, basically he will put all handlebars at the highest angle, thus reducing the drop/reach, making the bike more upright and comfortable no doubt. Anyway result is ok as I have no pain riding. Just wondering if to find little rock fit, maybe for a more aero position. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I asked one of the top triathletes in Malaysia and he said he didnt even have proper bike fit. To him, bike fitters dont really take into account rider's fitness, leg power and flexibility.

To him, bike fitters dont really take into account rider's fitness, leg power and flexibility. for me, bike fit is something important. I have my old bike, rode for few months, I thought the bike fit was not necessary as I had no issue cycling with it for 70-100km. Till I changed to new bike from other shop and they did bike fit as well but my first ride on the new bike was terrible! I had body ache every part of my body even it was just 40km ride. So, I sent my bike for fitting at the shop I bought my old bike for fitting. Everything went smooth till now. If you are comfortable with your bike, it is ok not to have the bike fit in my opinion. |

I am also curious, which top triathlete said that? |

QUOTE(sunghajung11 @ Aug 23 2018, 12:16 PM) Import tax 25% because not complete bike. Price tax is including of item price and postage. I recall a non complete bike aka frameset is 40% quota duty(Malaysia). If he is lucky... Kastam might not see it.Not sure bout latest SST though... I got my frame in without duty or gst... Woohoo |

If you choose not to bikefit it's prefectly fine. But when you get injury. Non of us here can pinpoint what's wrong, even your One of the Top Triathlete friend wouldnt knows, except a professional bike fitter.....It's like u coming here... I'll usually do a background check on the seller b4 making any purchases... so far the few safe online sellers are bike shops in a couple of states. |

guys,
thinking of buying bike for my wife. thinking of specialized. The issue is I worry how long my wife will ride. So, it is better to buy something that I can use if my wife doesn't. I am 180cm and using size 54 with 110mm stem. My wife is 170cm height. So I am thinking of this setup: 1. size 54 with shorter stem, 70mm. If she dosn't ride, I can just change the stem to 110mm and I will be comfort on it as per my current bike sizing. 2. size 52. this will be her idea size but just in case she doesn't ride long, I just change the stem to 130-140mm. Is the above make sense? I dont know how long my wife will ride. That's a big question. buying low end bike will be many negative factor on her. Bike berat la, etc. So buying middle end bike like 5-6k would be a better start for her but I am just thinking if she stops riding after a while. Thanks, |

Thanks, I was thinking maybe getting a mtb, so you have one when you want to go off road. Or maybe a foldie(mini velo?) and you can always have a bike where ever you go... just some ideas. |

I am thinking something like mini velo also but she wants RB. So she can ride with me. LOL. MTB is out of option as I had one and sold off as I did not ride it at all. less than 100km in 2 years of owning MTB.I was thinking maybe getting a mtb, so you have one when you want to go off road. Thanks, if yes, get the 52, and you dont need to change to 130-140stem, u still can ride with 100mm stem, and enjoy the smaller frame (u will like it more) (btw is really really rare to find 130-140 stem in market, as far as i know, only giant has 130 but special order) |

Size 52 I worry if it is too small. Hehe. |
