u can buy heavy cream, whip with mixer till harden and it separate from butter milk, means it has to whip pass high peak. Continue press the chunk to remove excess butter milk, shape it and that's the butter you have. you may use buttermilk for pancake or cake.

then u can gauge is it worth the price you are paying or not icon_idea.gif

If you want cheese that is similar to mcd cheese, you should start trying american cheese or sometimes labelled as american cheddar cheese. It’s orangey in colour and not light yellow as normal cheddar.

And for TS, if you want cheaper butter, try to look in shops that specialised in baking ingredients. Normally their price is RM2-3 cheaper than normal supermarket for the same brand.

Hmm... Havent found any at local supermarket like jaya or village grocer

Read the description & ingredients

Real butter will be labelled as such & ingredients is majority milk based

Non dairy “butter” will be labelled as Fat or Vegetable Spread & the majority of ingredients is palm oil based

Same for condensed milk & evaporated milk

Condensed/evaporated milk = majority milk product ingredient

Sweetend creamer / evaporated creamer = majority palm oil product

As I mentioned, these brands Western Star, Golden Churn, Lurpak, SCS or Westgold Butter are all natural butter unless you have not had them before... doh.gif

Im not saying the brands u mentioned are not butter, but regardless if you insist on having butter then just have a quick look at the ingredients while buying

cannot say anytime they can change their formulation or introduce a spread right

This what happened to condensed milk, almost all the former condensed milk brands here now only sell palm oil based sweetened creamers

Wah this thread still alive!

Happens to so many daily products unannounced bro. Another one good example is cheese, percentage of dairy contents getting much much lesser. Kraft got into several lawsuit for this too.

Real butter, not margarine or luxury spread or fat spread or buttery
Look at how sneaky they are. I don't think many Malaysians realise this but the "butter" you buy is not actually butter. They don't even describe it as butter and use terms like "lemak sapuan campus sebatian" or something like that. When you look at the ingredients list, the first item is actually palm oil. Many don't show the percentages, one that did says that only 10% is "milk fat" i.e. real butter

The ones that actually describe it as butter and have the ingredient list butter (and maybe salt) but nothing else, is like 12.50 a block of 250g

Why so expensive ?
