I think its over $1.4 billion. That was for strategic defense weaponry (alutsista) only. There is also Rp.2.1 Trillion for constuctions. This post has been edited by azriel: Apr 13 2019, 10:14 AM

QUOTE(Frozen_Sun @ Apr 13 2019, 10:07 AM) Yeah...the big acquisition for FY 2018 was Su-35 at $1.1 billion...but become questionable right now because of US sanctions... Don't forget also this year the Indonesian Ministry of Defense already ordered 8 units H225M Caracal CSAR helicopters for the Indonesian Air Force and 9 units Bell 412EP helicopters for the Indonesian Army to PTDI. Afaik this 2019 Defense Budget also included additional AH-64E Apache Guardian. And we are just in the first quarter of 2019. So it certainly way over $1.4 billion. This post has been edited by azriel: Apr 13 2019, 11:55 AM |

QUOTE(Frozen_Sun @ Apr 12 2019, 10:20 AM) I don't know about match grade rifle accuracy....but just saying that rifles don't have equal accuracy Well you've just been fooled by bad press.. G36 is a fine gun, they also have been used by the likes of your own kopassus and denjakaYes...you can change barrel easily...but standard SS2 barrel is heavier than SS1, especially because it's longer. Of course, AK-47 is based on different kind of use, but I'm just saying that rifles have different accuracy. For sub-par rifle, I have a different opinion, if it's defective enough like G36 and INSAS, then it's sub-par Of course, I'm just saying that rifle quality also matter. No matter how skilled you are, if you use a relatively inaccurate rifle like AK-47, you won't perform well.... I'm sure they know it's a fine piece of hardware for it's to be accepted for service in these highly regarded special forces INSAS is unfortunately a proven sub-par rifle, no question about that |

QUOTE Ministry of Defense Order 2 LST to PT Bandar Abadi - Batam April 13, 2019 KRI Bintuni, one of the 117 meter type LST vessels used as the new standard of tank landing craft in the Navy (photo: RRI) Through the signing of an agreement on the purchase of a defense equipment that was valued at almost Rp.22 trillion yesterday, including the procurement of 2 ships, Landing Ship Tank, or better known as the Angkut Tank (AT). This time the one who received the order was PT. Bandar Abadi shipyard in Tanjung Uncang, Batam. The selection of shipyards in Batam is at the same time an acknowledgment that cities in Banten, Surabaya, Jakarta, Lampung and Batam have large shipyards ready to make ships for the benefit of the Indonesian Navy. The Navy's plan to have 12 new LST vessels until 2024 was truly realized, 7 LST vessels were ordered. The LST orders had previously been carried out in 2 units of Kodja Bahari Jakarta, 2 units of PT Daya Radar Utama Lampung, followed by 3 units of follow-up contracts. So that the total is 7 units. Now the Ministry of Defense has ordered 2 LST vessels so that the total number of new LST vessels owned by the Indonesian Navy will be 9 units. There are still 3 LST units remaining for the next 5 years to reach 12 ships by 2024. This new LST vessel will be the 8th and 9th ships. G36 is a fine gun, they also have been used by the likes of your own kopassus and denjaka The flaw of G36 proved indirectly fatal in battlefield. In Afghanistan, 32 German paratroopers were forced to withdraw when fighting talibans due to overheating G36. I'm sure they know it's a fine piece of hardware for it's to be accepted for service in these highly regarded special forces INSAS is unfortunately a proven sub-par rifle, no question about that During the retreat, three German soldiers were killed. The polymer barrel holder starts to soften even at 23 degree Celcius. After shooting two mags (60 rounds), accuracy deviation could reach 6 meters at a range of 500 meters. When the polymer holder becomes deformed, accuracy is ruined permanently, due to misaligned barrel. Until G36 is improved with heat-resistant barrel holder...it remains a sub-par rifle... nearly unusable in real battlefield situation...as proven with what happened in Afghanistan |

QUOTE(Frozen_Sun @ Apr 13 2019, 08:02 PM) The flaw of G36 proved indirectly fatal in battlefield. In Afghanistan, 32 German paratroopers were forced to withdraw when fighting talibans due to overheating G36. Compared to G36's loss of accuracy in a 9-hour combat the M4's performance in the battle of wanat might surprise youDuring the retreat, three German soldiers were killed. Until G36 is improved with heat-resistant barrel holder...it remains a sub-par rifle... nearly unusable in real battlefield situation...as proven with what happened in Afghanistan Rifles just literally stopped working and got jammed, a soldier reportedly used multiple rifles in that one combat alone, and the US suffered more casualties https://medium.com/war-is-boring/the-armys-...le-57c055acc76b It's literally heaven and earth if you compared these issues together Consequently they know it's the issue of how they should have used it and moved on In other news, even the german court finds no fault to the G36 Probably not a good idea to deem the rifle unusable from just one combat report https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/09...o-compensation/ |

These are all minor contracts for small number of purchases of gap fillers including that APC with a 105mm turret. My guess is that this is an election boost. Nothing revolutionary at all e.g. the 19070-80 era Type 309 subs. But they are indeed gap filler which ought to bought a long time ago.
How many additional Guardians were bought? This post has been edited by Mai189: Apr 14 2019, 09:11 AM |

QUOTE Honeywell eyes Malaysia F/A-18D, C-130 upgrade work 11 APRIL, 2019 SOURCE: FLIGHTGLOBAL.COM BY: GREG WALDRON LANGKAWI Honeywell is eyeing upgrade opportunities for Kuala Lumpur’s Boeing F/A-18D Hornet fighters and Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules tactical transports. Honeywell has a significant amount of content on the F/A-18Ds that it could upgrade, says company vice-president Tim Van Luven. Potential upgrade work could involve the aircraft’s displays, global positioning system, antennas, lighting, wheels and brakes, and cabin pressure system. In addition, Honeywell produced the main fuel controls on the type’s General Electric F404 engines. "The needs of Malaysia’s defence and aerospace industry are constantly evolving,” he says. “Honeywell is well positioned in the region to evaluate ways in which we can offer customized support to the Royal Malaysian Air Force. As a key solutions provider for the F/A-18D, we are continuously exploring possibilities that leverage our local partnerships and global supply chain network to bring enhanced aftermarket support to Malaysia.” Honeywell also believes that maintenance for Malaysia’s Hornet fleet would be better expedited were this to be conducted under a direct commercial arrangement, as opposed to the existing Foreign Military Sales (FMS) arrangement. By Franz-Stefan Gady April 11, 2019 The Indian Air Force (IAF) will receive the first four of 22 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters in August, according to Boeing sources. The U.S.-made helicopter gunships are expected to arrive via U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft at Pathankot Air Force Station in northern India, where they will be assembled, IHSJane’s reported on April 11.
