i support the plan for TNI AL but others, i dont think so. the TNI AL increasing vessel and support facilities is a good thing and will bring development to the neighborhood so its good. for other i dont see it become better. dont know what the higher ups see.

wedgetail for  AWACS ???that is super surprise mega_shok.gif

sorry if i offend you at comment before. it just this thing takes a lot of times and it build a lot of unnecessary antagonize when visiting the Indonesian forum by its user making any discussion just frustrating and inconvenience.

I think it does get better....regardless of whether it's significant or not...

Like a new class of LPD has been launched recently by PT PAL, which is a modified Tarlac class. And there's a plan for second batch of Chang Bogo submarines produced mostly locally.

Aster 30 SMPT at >120km is a long range missile system. Aster 15 at >30km is the medium range version.

As for NASAM, I know the sale brochure denotes medium range. But it is in the same categoey as Spyder SR. Both NASAM and Spyder uses a medium range aams i.e. Amraam versus Derby/python 5. Maximum for both systems (if they leverage on the latest version of both missiles) range is probably around 15km to 30km at most. Note: the latest Derby is comparable to Amraam 120d. Indonesia does not have Amraam 120d.
*
TNI-AU already bought a batch of AIM-120C7 for F-16

So, they may purchase the same variant for surface launched model. But, for any AAM converted to SAM, the effective range is roughly halved.

^^ Janes got the numbers wrong it should have been IDR 28.382 Billion not Trillion. Lol.

Based on current batch...it's around $350mn each...hopefully with local workers and some local materials, it will be cheaper.

Considering that this is one of the PH Navy Gregorio del Pilar-class frigates (in truth old Hamilton-class US coast guard ships laugh.gif ) , which are probably the best ships the PH navy has currently, I doubt that.

Minor leak?

Quite a lot of water being pumped out

I think that is normal bilge water being pumped out. Even modern ship isnt 100% waterproof.
*
Bilge water also collects from minor leaks on the hull.

It's just that the water being pumped out seem to be more than normal.

Yes....sending A400M for regular cargo sorties seem very inefficient. Better use the money to build low cost local cargo ships and ports. It takes less than $11mn to build the new Bintuni Class LST. Can carry hundreds times more cargo than A400, although much slower

Indonesian Marines Baluran Combat Traning Center in Situbondo - East Java. Indonesia is experiencing prolonged dry season and drought.

I guess I miss that detail for a long time.

Anyway...Baluran is often called as Indonesia's little Africa. Ideal for armored maneuver exercise

It's unfortunate...but it's an old missile boat anyway. PT PAL is building four more missile boats this year if I'm not mistaken.

It's fortunate that these submarines are based on old design. But, a diesel sub is a diesel sub. It's very quiet when running on battery. CBG subs of South Korean Navy managed to get close to US Navy carriers during exercises.

They will also have new electronics, sensors and black shark torpedoes, so it's not bad.

So that already includes current four SIGMA corvettes and two PKR?

If yes, then this news is misleading.

If it's true that there will be next order for PKR light frigates and CBG subs...then we have reached a new level of self-sufficiency.

The next step would be to purchase full-sized AAW frigates. TNI-AL still has weak air defense

Still can't understand why positioning tanks at top of the hill. It will be like target practice.

Today...tanks are more like self propelled artillery for close direct fire support. Infantry should be at the front...not tanks.
