I believe that I have the movie package for my Astro Subscription, how do I access the HBO Go? Do I use back the Astro Go app or use a separate app?

"HBO Go Malaysia" is an application you can find it from play store. There are a few HBO something, make sure your find the right one. I think it is still also accessible from Astro Go app.

No extra charges right? I am not sure what package of Astro I have, but I do have Fox Movies, HBO channels. So I supposed the HBO Go, it's free right?

Yes. My Smart TV. It has always been connected to the same network.. But the casting icon is still grey. Hmm. Weird. Looking at my YouTube app now, it seems to be working on YouTube.

You need to do more work to find out if it is the TV problem, or HBO problem, or your phone problem.

YouTube is a bad tool to isolate the problem because Youtube is able to cast to another YouTubr, it does not need the Chromecast server function.

Basically maybe install mv cast player on your phone, play a video and see if it can be casted to your TV.

Do you mean when I cast the Youtube from my phone, it only connects directly to the YouTube app on my TV? that's why it's working? Is that what is going with Netflix? Cause when I click on the "cast icon" on my phone, it opens up the Netflix app on my TV instead of opening the selected movie and play.

I don't know enough about casting but I only know there are too many different technologies around, and each does things differently. So an experience with a particular TV, a particular app, ....may not be applicable to another.

I think I mentioned in this forum before I also have login difficulty with HBO Go M on my device. I also have similar problem with AstroGo beta on my device. I don't have problem with login if I use AstroGo 8.2.6.

So I say the problem is correlated. Since the login pages in AstroGo beta and HBO Go M are the same, the layout, the color scheme, ..... it points to the same common denominator, Astro server.

The problem is Astro. Likely the Astro server is detecting something about our devices, and do something strange. I don't have problem when using phone.

Yes correct you are right. I can’t use AstroGo Beta while AstroGo 8.2.6 is OK.

So coclusion is my device (unifi stb) limitation?

Well, to be exact, it is a combination of your device and also AstroGo server limitation. AstroGo places very high requirement on the webview client's capability.

I have gathered increased evidence now.

I think the AstroGo beta ( which is now official, no more beta ) requires certain javascript capabilities, but such capabilities are not found in certain devices. Your unifi stb and my device are examples of two such devices, which the default webview is poor the capability but cannot use the chrome webview automatically, even though it is installed.

We need to either :-

1. Update the system to use new and latest chrome web view,

or

2. Hack the app so that it will be forced to use chrome web view, if it is installed and available.

I am still at testing stage of item (2). The unfortunate result of (2) is that both HBO and Astro will need to be hacked in order to be forced to use chrome web view.

no more beta.

try this current apk.
https://www.apkmonk.com/download-app/com.as...2019-07-17.apk/

if still no good, it means yr box is too low level for the app.

many other boxes works fine with it.

frankly, u can get a new box for RM100 or so, no need to struggle...!

Okay I fixed my own problem with login difficulty. The root cause was exactly like I said, it is the webview. Now I can consistently be presented proper working login page.

I tried a few ways to work around it using app code hacking, but it did not work.

So finally I have to hack/update system files. So it is now fully working. Too bad then for those having difficulty login, your system files are too old for the liking of Astro login server.
