No MagicSpeed is a feature on their 226bw so they employ overdrive on all panels, their own included.

edit: It's called RTA

QUOTE
It was interesting to note that without RTA, the A and S were no better than the 225BW. They all become equally slow when deactivating this function and the 2 ms appears to be a 5 ms with an optimised overdrive.

Yes, no problem here on 8800GTX SLI, tested on 2007WFP and 2407WFP. But on native resolution, the OSD are grayed out.

How to get it work? Let's say I want to play CS 1.6 using 800 x 600. How to set? I tried set the monitor resolution to 800x600, and ingame same resolution, but wide mode in OSD still greyed out. sad.gif

There is WS support, but I don't like it.

I've read through forums and sites, those using 8800, using new drivers will have trouble in 1:1 pixel scaling for WS LCD. The reason behind is that even when you set the desktop resolution to a 4:3 aspect ratio, the monitor will think its still on its native resolution, eg 24" WS 1920 x 1200, that's why unable to select wide mode for my LCD. Some stated 97.XX prove to be able to work with 1:1 scaling, I'm yet to test it out. I've tested 158.22 and 160.XX, no scaling.

Depends on games, newer games that suppport WS resolution won't look stretch. Games like warcraft 3 though will be stretch, or there will be a black bar on both side (depending on your graphic setting)

Taiping?Lol...saw some shops selling 19" but haven't saw anything above that. The price are about RM50-RM100 more that lowyat.net price.

Anymore suggestion?I like the Benq because of the square stand design. But i assume Samsung is the top seller for 19" WS.Why?because it's 4MS?Is it really 4MS or somekinda native thinggy?

Aye... poor us Perak/Penang people... so hard to find 20" monitor here... sad.gif

Anyway,
Guys... need your opinion on this... after some thinking I think 20" wide is kinda too big for me to bring to my college... so... I want to ask a few opinion..

Currently I am using X2Gen (OEM by LIKOM) LCD monitor 19". Only VGA... no DVI port... sad.gif 12ms response time... and resolution of 1280x1024 @ 75Hz.

If I were to change to Samsung 940BW... which is also 19" (the only difference being it is widescreen) with 4ms response time... is the change noticeable?? I mean... is it worth it to change from 19" to 19" widescreen??

Cause 940BW got DVI port as well.. which I believe is superior in every aspect from VGA port. It is 4ms (in contrast with my current 12ms monitor).. and it is wide...

What do you guys think?? Is it a good choice to take 940BW over my current monitor or just stick with my current one for now... because basically both are 19"... just that one is wide while the other one is normal flat 19" panel.

No, in fact you will see shorter n wider panel, but won't be so much improvement
1280x1024 vs 1400x900, not really a big improvement huh sweat.gif
