New GamePass Ultimate subscriber here, after getting my XSX yesterday.

All I can say I'm pleasantly impressed. So much value for money, so much in fact, "is this legal?" laugh.gif

GamePass Ultimate  have significantly droped my wishlisted games on Steam to only big releases and titles I'm getting to play on Steam Deck next year.

Subbed till April 2024. Wanted to go 36 mths but can't go beyond that for some reason.

Literally drowning in games. Not even tested the EA Play part yet, and then there's XCloud ohmy.gif . Gonna VPN closer today and see what I can get away with.

Good times. rclxms.gif

I think i know what happened there - you may have turned on auto-renewal by accident which gives you free 3 months (from what i can remember) and therefore didn't allow you to stack 36 months of gold. Don't forget to turn off auto renewal so that you can do the same trick in May 2024.

I think so too. I think a 28 months of GPU is plenty. Gonna do yearly re-subscription after April 2024 onwards. Should be smooth sailing for 12 month re-sub I reckon. icon_rolleyes.gif

GPU really spoils you with overflowing games. Too many games, too little free time! I doubt I have even the chance to play all the games in the Pass when my sub expired in 2024.

Only IF we have more free time XD

As growing older, so many things occupied and gaming always become the last (10pm later)

I always have the time these days, since I WFH, the seduction is to "quickly finish work" to immediately punch-card out into the "recreation area". laugh.gif But if dont work hard, no money for "recreation area". Thankfully, GPU is so much value, and major games are far and few in between release, that saves a lot! I'm just glad I'm not the target audience for games like Fortnite and "Games as a service" like Destiny and such. I play when I want to play, not forced to play when there's events or when peers pressure you to play. Or be pressured to buy silly cosmetic stuff. icon_rolleyes.gif

I believe you, I'm already at 84% full on the 1TB SSD! sweat.gif

But the good thing about Game Pass Ultimate, I can remove my wishlisted games on Steam, since they are now part of GP. More money saved! Games like Sable and Microsoft Flight Simulator. Flight Simulator alone costs RM234 on Steam. moneyflies.gif And I can even try EA games without worrying if they're ........shit. Like Mass Effect Andromeda. Since they're part of game pass, just download. Only thing have to keep an eye out? Storage space.

I'm a bit of a hoarder - just buy an external HDD. I have an external 8tb hooked up to the xbox and transfer to internal when required. Also, you only need to keep series X/S games on internal - xbone games and other BC games can be played from external.

Nice, thank you!

I think I saw some Halo Infinite themed Seagate 8TB external HDDs on Shopee/Lazada, in keeping with the theme of the console I have. But HDD though, that transfer speed…….then again, 8TB SSD will kill my wallet flat. laugh.gif

Question:
Does Xbox restrict their DLCs like PlayStation?

For example, if I have a US disc, can I purchase the DLC for the game from Asia, or vice versa?

for digital ver, for me you just need to switch region on your console and go download the DLC or contents for that region
digital game is tied to your account, doesn't matter what region you're in, as long as the region got it and you can download it
I have gone 100% digital this gen tongue.gif

Disc not sure, but should be region free tho
but those restrictions usually are imposed by the game publishers not the console

I know the discs are region free, like PS4/5... but concern is let's say i buy US disc, can I use Asian DLC?

What is the recommended country to setup Xbox account for Malaysians?

And discs sold here are usually from which region?

cross region Disk & DLC compatibility will be highly depending on the game publishers
so it's depending on the games, similar to scenario in PS

but here I think 90% of us already moved to 100% digital, so the compatibility is no longer an issue for us tongue.gif

to create new account, actually any county also can, as you can easily change region later on, MS doesn't lock your account to a certain region like Sony
but most of the new players will choose either SG or US

Local Xbox discs are rare, as most game shop doesn't want to carry them as there's very low demand for it, but for those do mostly are brought in from SG, so basically they're R3
2nd hand xbox game market also is pretty small here compared to PS, so if you're thinking to do like PS, buy new game, quickly finish it and sell if off, you won't have a very high success rate,
as the 2nd hand xbox game market are sort of killed by MS pushing hard on Gamepass and region free digitalization

Thanks for the reply smile.gif

I am very old school, prefer to buy disc copies wherever possible, unless there was a sale and the digital version was damn cheap.

I also not the type to buy new game, quickly finish, and then sell off. I will hold on to the discs until I decide I don't need them or need to downsize my collection many years later.

So I can treat the Xbox the same as my PlayStation then... just leave everything in the US. Thanks smile.gif

wait for it to expire, get 3 years XBL, sub one month of GPU, it will convert the rest of the XBL to GPU

Hi guys,

thinking of getting xbox series S next week. Either that or a PS4 Pro.
What is the price of a gamepass ultimate 12 months? A lot of places on shopee quote RM195-RM245...is that the normal price?

Very nearly bought Mass Effect LE at one point on PC. Already got the trilogy non-Legendary version on Origin/EA Play PC.

Game Pass saves me money again! rclxm9.gif
