Hi guys, anyone here using the NU8000 with Astro ? Hows the video quality for Non-HD channels? Does it look a little grainy?  Not sure whether it's due to the 4K up-scaling or bad HDMI cable.
*
Maybe you can show us some pictures ?

Astro's videos are of very low bitrate and poorly mastered , therefore the black levels are a mess.
The better TV you get , the more they will expose the flaws of lower quality videos.

Without actually seeing your TV , it is hard to tell if those effects are intended , or something is wrong with the display , or you are using the wrong input for TV.

Try changing to an alternate cable , change display mode to " movie " , turn on digital clean view. See if any of those helps . Also update to the latest firmware .
Play some high quality 4k footage , see if your screen is working properly .

Change Local Dimming to " low " when playing non-HDR video / content . Make sure the HDR+Mode is turned off.

Hi all, I'm looking for a new TV in living room.
Looking at 60'/65'

After reading through the forum, a lot of people recommended NU8000. I have 2 options:-

1) 65' NU8000
2) 65' NU7400

The price difference is around RM1k, so not sure whether the diffrence really worth it ?

And I am a little bit confuse with smartTV and androidTV. The only things I know is android you can open WWW and download apps in playstore where SmartTV can't.

Another newbie question, does smartTV need androidTV box ?

I am not heavy TV user, quite minimal. TV mostly use for PS4 game, online movie streaming like youtube, etc, and DVD.

Maybe someone can give advise as I have not been using TV for a very long time.

Thanks

The Samsung NU8000 is much better than the Samsung NU7400. The NU8000 is much brighter with all types of content. Motion is smoother as it can remove 24p judder from almost all sources, and the faster response time means less motion blur. The NU8000 also has some advanced gaming features, including automatic low latency mode and support for a variable refresh rate.

Hi. Thank you for your info. I find 65' NU8000 is quite expensive. Not sure if downgrade to 55' NU8000 is a better choice compare to 65' NU7400. Which one you prefer? Or NU8000? For condo living room. TV distance from eyes is around 8ft.

Thanks

55' NU8000 - RM3900 - RM4800 (i am not sure why there's big gap on pricing in lazada)
65' NU8000 - RM5600 - RM6800 (i am not sure why there's big gap on pricing in lazada)
65' NU7400 - ~RM4500.00

Is there any diffrent in pricing or quality between NU8000 2018 vs 2019 version ?

Thanks

the 2019 edition is called RU8000 , which is a downgrade from NU8000 due to the removal of the Local Dimming system .

RU8000 is now in the same category as many other entry lvl 4k TVs , also known as the " fake HDR " TVs .

NU8000 , I cannot recommend a RU8000 which is retailing for the same price but for even less features .

I expect the 55" of the newer Qled model , Q75R to fully replace the spot of NU8000 when they giving out massive discounts by the end of the year .
Right now the model is still too expensive despite of the vast improvement from local dimming .

NU8000 is also 'fake' in the sense that it uses edge lit local dimming, not the full array local dimming that has the LED backlight right behind the panel that would provide a much brighter image and more control over the brightness across the whole panel.

You don't have many options in MY , edge-lit based HDR TV can still produce a much wider Dynamic range , hence fulfilling the purposes of " High Dynamic Range " (HDR) which measure the peak brightness and deepest black a TV can produce .

The blooming and column brightening is very distracting in darker room yes , but it is more tolerable if you have some ambient lighting on which is why this TV is considered as good option for living room.

It is not the best HDR TV but it is still far better than TV that does not has any.

There are only 3 great F.A.L.D TV in Malaysia this year , all of them came from Samsung and SONY.
Q90R which has a price tag of RM18K , Q900R the 8K TV RM 50K , Sony's X950G RM 22K .

Most people will not be able to afford these TVs , so you will have to take what you can get .

Unfortunately , yes .

On a bright side , it was one of the most features complete basic 4K TV out of the bunch .

There is some but it doesn't look too bad from your camera at least.

Does this happen to everything on the TV or only shows from Astro ?
Try playing some 4k HDR demo from youtube and see if it persist.

The NU8000 is much brighter than the traditional TV out of the box , any grainy effects are made more obvious than on your older TV.

For lower quality channels like Astro , turn down the backlights to the level where it isn't so noticeable.

Btw i am coming from a Sharp UE630x before this NU8000.This happens only to Astro SD channels.. Bluray HD movies via usb are clear and crisp.. 4K HDR demo in youtube plays fine well. Btw I double checked on the digital clean view and it was turned off. After setting it on AUTO...the Astro SD channels looked tad better than it was earlier.

Thanks for the advice & reply mate.. Cheers..
