Hi guys, anyone here using the NU8000 with Astro ? Hows the video quality for Non-HD channels? Does it look a little grainy? Not sure whether it's due to the 4K up-scaling or bad HDMI cable.

Maybe you can show us some pictures ?
Astro's videos are of very low bitrate and poorly mastered , therefore the black levels are a mess.
The better TV you get , the more they will expose the flaws of lower quality videos.
Without actually seeing your TV , it is hard to tell if those effects are intended , or something is wrong with the display , or you are using the wrong input for TV.

Try changing to an alternate cable , change display mode to " movie " , turn on digital clean view. See if any of those helps . Also update to the latest firmware .
Play some high quality 4k footage , see if your screen is working properly .
Change Local Dimming to " low " when playing non-HDR video / content . Make sure the HDR+Mode is turned off.

There is some but it doesn't look too bad from your camera at least.

Does this happen to everything on the TV or only shows from Astro  ?
Try playing some 4k HDR demo from youtube and see if it persist.

The NU8000 is much brighter than the traditional TV out of the box , any grainy effects are made more obvious than on your older TV.

For lower quality channels like Astro , turn down the backlights to the level where it isn't so noticeable.

Btw i am coming from a Sharp UE630x before this NU8000.This happens only to Astro SD channels.. Bluray HD movies via usb are clear and crisp.. 4K HDR demo in youtube plays fine well. Btw I double checked on the digital clean view and it was turned off. After setting it on AUTO...the Astro SD channels looked tad better than it was earlier.

Thanks for the advice & reply mate.. Cheers..

Just ordered a 55 RU7100 from Aeon.

This is to replace a 10 yr old 32 LG FHD...which still works fine.

Hoping to be somewhat impressed! will be linked up to my Minix U9-H.

Maybe not the latest and greatest but for 2700 and RM 200 voucher to put towards a decent sound bar, should keep me going for quite a few years.

Any tips on set up or just go with what the installer will do?

Thanks!

Guess if u're talking bout picture settings.. u cn check out Rtings tv settings for the ru7100 as a guide but do take note each TV will hv a diff calibration tweaks. u cn play around with the settings to get the best optimal picture quality. 👍

Thanks, just left it stock as delivered .no problems at all.

Was thinking about a sound bar but find the 20w on the TV are plenty good enough for movies etc.

Just one thing the Samsung remote is very clunky ,but using the Minix A2 instead which is great.

All in all very satisfied ,could have taken the RU65 for 3300 but really too big for my place,55 is perfect!

Default settings is good for starters but if you want closer to actual color & best image then you have to play around with the expert pic settings. smile.gif

And yes the TV speakers are good when cranked up about 40-60 volume.

Samsung one remote is clunky as you've already known now so 3rd party remove / air mouse works well..

TV size depends on how far your sofa is located from the TV. Modern 4K tv's requires to sit close to enjoy the best pic quality. thumbup.gif
