What specs do you wish to maintained?
If good and super cheap with latest Api sp spec, mizu fully synthetic only rm80 for 4L. Using pao + ester somemore.

If wan achieved higher spec a bit like b3/b4, can get Q8 oil from their official seller in shopee. Rm125 for 4L fully synthetic.

i use motul turbo light 4100 only, cause my frequenc change.
i 'm not sure how much cause i got free supply for last few year.

Why frequency changed? You are travelling a lot? Turbolight is normal only, can just use mizu. Unless you go sepang or endurance race.

Understand? Do elaborate.
Experience? Do elaborate. Feels smoother, looks dirtier?

For me, i would base on official specs as it needs extensive research to hit spec.
Unless the specs are not officially approved, i will base it on specs as im not an oil engineer although i am an engineer.

I just bought syntium 3000 from Vanli (lazada)... Packaging wise already seems fake. The bottle so soft unlike what I bought from Petronas gas station. I havent open the packaging yet... See what they want to reply...

Update:

Open the oil to compare and indeed they are not the same. The 5w40 that I bought from mesra has a golden color whereas the oil from Vanli is slightly lighter tint. Even the smell is slightly different. Few drops on paper, absorption and flow rate are different as well.

Definitely not genuine petronas oil.. but I feel it's not recycled oil.

Included an image... didn't include the source for 5w30 because my dad bought them. Haven't asked where it's from.

Online rm80 branded fully synthetic too good to be true. Rather buy mizu or bold. If got budget rm130 buy shell helix ultra from giant/lotus. Bought shell hx8 from lazada before, the oil color lighter yellow, mechanic smell told me was fake. I just use it rather than waste, noticed the engine idle sound louder than usual, used 3000km then change oil to avoid engine jahanam.

What else... denial.

The usual bs about doing lab test to authenticate. Cannot use eyes to see. Different batch. Different region.

To be honest, I'm not exactly critical of engine oil as long as they are not recycled oil. It's just that recently my usual car (sonata yf) was sold and my dad pass me his 2009 merc. I was told needing to top up engine oil every now and then but I was topping up too often to the point of getting annoyed. Then I was told by the mech my dad bought the wrong viscocity, bought 5w30 instead of 5w40. Maybe it was diluted so bad, instead of topping up 800-1000ml every 1000km, I actually top up close to 6L for just 3000km (his leftover 5w30 ¾ bottle and I bought the brand new 5w40 from Petronas mesra). I actually bought a 250ml measuring cup and pour in 3-4 cups each time.

Had a engine oil servicing last month and it just pop up needing to top up oil (roughly 900km from 2 petrol refilling). I added the remaining 650ml and will monitor how it goes. I wanted to avoid getting the wrong viscosity and repeating the frequent engine oil top up.
