Finally sent car for 1,000KM service! Service was great, Proton really improved a lot.

Sadly, my non-functioning boot-light has to claim warranty - they said it'll take up to 3 weeks (and maybe up to 2 months) for the part to arrive. The electronic switch isn't sending a signal to the light.

Also, they can't adjust the auto-light sensitivity it seems, it's hardwired. Anyone has tried getting Proton to adjust?
*
Dang, so my SA lied to me. She told me can adjust the sensitivity at Proton. Anyway, about 3,000KM more to go for my 10k service, I'll ask them again then.

Lol, 3 weeks to 2 months just get an electronic switch.

anyone experiencing auto lock not functioning? been a week my car not auto lock itself when driving, before it still function but when only sometime hit heavy rains it is not functioning.

is it due to ecu or equipment malfunction?
*
Not sure about Iriz alarm module, but basically the auto-locking function might not be working properly already. Can also be caused by a faulty relay, etc. If your car is no longer under warranty, find an accessory shop that won't pressure you to change your entire alarm system.

If you go to Proton, they might find the problem, but dunno how long to wait for parts, as in the case of: Helldiver

Should be no issue. I doubt they changed the internal parts much since first gen.

Do update us if the sensitivity can be adjusted! But generally the sales people don't know much about the cars lah.
*
Tell me about it; I went to 3 Proton dealers to ask for a test drive car for the Iriz, only 1 had it at the time. Best part, none of them actually knew about the cars in a technical sense. For one of them, it was their first time trying out the 60:40 backseat when I asked them to show it. It was so weird.

Hi, buying my first car this year
I'm considering Proton Iriz 1.6 exec and Proton Persona 1.6 Exec now.
Any known issues with these two 2019 models from Proton??
I don't have kids and mostly driving the car in city, sometimes outstation for work.

Any advice pls?
*
The one thing I like about Proton so far is that there are no known "serious" issues that causes breakdown (such as fuel pump failure, gearbox issues, etc.), unless of course it's an exclusive case (no production is perfect) - just make sure to stick to maintenance, and service your gearbox according to how much you use the car (e.g., recommended 60,000km for gearbox service, but if a person can reach 10,000km in 2-3 months, better to service the gearbox every 30,000km).

The standard Proton issues are still present: 1) rattling due to the plastic-to-plastic contact at the dashboard and other places (can be fixed DIY with some wire/cloth tape), 2) poor customer service, 3) Campro engine is not EEV certified, so FC is not comparable to a Honda, 4) noisy Silverstone tyres at purchase.

Proton Persona = Proton Iriz, only difference is the boot space. Some people say the Persona a little more quieter - I think it's because the rear wheels are further back? Not sure. I personally went for the Iriz due to the design, and I prefer hatchbacks.

Hi All,

I just got my 2019 Iriz last month. Now my mileage reaching 600km. I bought the car mainly for daily driver. Nice handling and comfortable.

Just one thing that I need to confirm is the brake. I find Iriz brake is little too far? Malay call it "brake jauh".

Did you guys facing the issue? Or only me?

Thank you.
*
Do you mean the braking distance or brake pedal?

Sorry, I mean the brake pedal. Need to press so far.
*
Hmm, yes, I think you need to press the brake pedal further in for braking. Different cars, different pedal sensitivity. I drove my company's Innova and it took me 5 minutes of braking to get used to it; touch a bit, and terus brake. Same thing happened with myvi.

It's normal.

Just sent for 60k major service.
Actual milegae is 21k
Kena RM932 +- including air cond services.
*
Actually, how does this happen? Actual mileage only 21k but already send major service (60k)?

Edit: Is it because of time? Follow months/years instead of mileage?

Yupp..mine 3years already..whichever come first
Yup.its optional..I asked for it due to smelly air from aircond..better full service
*
Omg. 21k only after 3 years.

Did they tell you how they service the aircond? My friend's car has this lembab/mildew smell; changed the filter still same. I saw in youtube, and they guy just sprayed some anti-mildew into the outside air-intake; supposedly solves the problem.

Thanks so the 10 year betterment is not linked to any of their insurance?
*
It's link to their panel insurer. If you sign up with any of their panels, then you will receive the betterment benefit.

Here's a list o the panel insurers: https://www.carsifu.my/news/proton-announce...-for-car-buyers

My stock tyre was Goodyear Assurance Triplemax.

Btw bro, is there any way I can make video work during handbrake release? I search need to have some bypass cable.
Can suggest any?
*
What the... your stock was Goodyear? U bought their display unit or what?

I managed to play youtube videos before using easyconnect: 1) connect via easyconnect, 2) exit easyconnect on the car display unit, 3) press home button on the phone. 4) launch youtube on the phone, 5) launch easyconnect on the car's display unit again. This procedure had problems after the easyconnect update, now I haven't tried again.

Bypass cable for the Iriz might cause issues with the voice commands, and not sure it will work for the 2019 FL version.

What year and spec? Could it be the "Follow Me Home" feature - where the lights stay on after you shut off the engine for safety purposes?
*
The "follow me home" feature is manually activated, I think. You have to press the lock button on the key twice, or use the left lever behind the steering by turning on and off the lights after turning off the car. Not sure if can be automated.

I saw some youtube comments on starting the Persona/Iriz, according to the video uploader (may be some SA), he said better press the start button 2 times before pressing the brake pedal and start the car. Basically, he's asking to enter full accessory mode before starting the car. His reason is to jaga the electronics. Is this true?

yes, that's the correct way. That's how I do it too. Press 1x, wait for some instrument cluster lights to turn off, then press brake and press start button again.
*
Hmm, for 2019 version, have to press 2x for instrument cluster lights to turn on. After testing, I believe it is the same if you "press 2x first before starting the car", or "straightaway starting the car".

When I pressed 2x, the instrument cluster turns on, the needles go from left to right, and when I start the car, the RPM goes up like normal.

The exact thing happens when I straight away start the car (without pressing the button 2x), while the engine starts, the instrument cluster turns on, the needles go from left to right, and RPM goes up like normal.

In older cars, we were told to wait for certain lights like ABS to switch off when the key is at ignition, before turning on car, so that the PCM reads the various sensors before starting up, and it should also save your starter from failing. Nonetheless, this method was actually mainly true for older cars without fuel injector

But these lights turn on and off so fast nowadays, even when I press 2x. IMO, I highly doubt the electronics would get messed up, as it really feels a lot different to start, it feels like it goes through it's own boot configuration - basically, the ignition system is improved.

If my starter rosak, I'll update. biggrin.gif

mine is 2014 1.6 CVT. Its not in follow me home mode. because when i turn the switch to off will turn on the lights all the time.
*
Does the low beam, normal beam, and high beam work?

Best solution is to get it repaired, since it's not normal. Could be anything from wiring to relay to even fuse issue.
