Hi all,

Is the following Debit cards only eligible for TARC and UTAR student?
http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/perso...aster_utar.html
http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/perso...aster_tarc.html

I read the requirements but it doesn't seem to mention only TARCian or UTARian are able to apply?

Anyone know any debit card that I can add a secondary oversea address?
This is important as many online stores will only ship to address linked to the card.

How much balance you have in your card? If balance is less than RM175, it will be rejected.
For pump at petrol kiosk, they will deduct RM150 from you card first until the bank receive statement from the petrol station only credit back your amount. The other RM25 is the minimum balance you need to maintain in your card or else you card could not be used.

owh.... that must be prob at the pump station....
my balance is more than rm175...

btw, how long it takes to refund the rm150?

is it happens whenever i go to different petrol station?

Hmmm then I'm not sure why your card was not accepted. Have you tried with other petrol station? I previously used my PBVE without any problem when pumping petrol.

For RM150 deduction, this is what I get from MBB Visa Debit FAQ and I believes it applies to all DC or CC.

Petrol transaction at the pump (outdoor) – Pre-authorization amount is RM150 but some petrol operators    allow the cardholder to select the amount at the pump. Pre-authorization amount will be charged to    customer’s banking account during the fill-up. The pre-authorization amount will be reversed back and the    actual filled-up amount will be charged to customer’s bank account once the bank receives the actual
filled-up amount from the acquiring bank. Average pre-authorization holding day is 3 days.

Both work in a manner of links to accounts but which account? In term of usage about the same, but beside fee, technically they r different
Debit card to either savings or current or both, no need to top up but usually can limit, not e-money, if bank go bust, your money in savings or current insured by PIDM (heard the radio ad eh?) - me not so sure tho hmm.gif
prepaid card to a virtual account maintain by either the issuing bank or non-bank e.g. Tune Money. Anything goes wrong, chase the issuer coz your money either with them or their trustee...
And why I like to use Tune Money? their interchange fee only 0.5% compared to credit card/ debit card issued by banks which is around 1.5 - 2%
Calculate how much u save if u do online or international trsx?
And malaysian bankers always be malaysian bankers mad.gif
never enuff for more - they always say VISA/ MAster charge as such but ask VISA - u will then know the truth

Any StanChart eSaver user here? How's the 7% rebate work? Does it limited to certain brand of petrol?
How about ATM cash withdrawals at StanChart ATMs? Will there be any charge?

From what I read in TnC, rebate not limited to certain brand of petrol.

For cash withdrawals,
RM8 per annum for ATM card fee. Unlimited ATM withdrawal(up to RM3,000 per day) and Over the Counter access.
RM1 service fee will be charged for cash withdrawals made at the ATMs of HSBC, OCBC and UOB.
RM12 service fee will be charged for cash withdrawals made at oversea/by using Maestro ATM network

Hi kit,

Thanks for your reply. So you tried to pump petrol at just any petrol station before? Did you get the 7% rebate?

And I still do not get what they mean by merchant category codes (MCC) 5541 and 5542 rclxub.gif
QUOTE
10.  Cash rebate with Debit Card is only given to petrol purchases made at petrol kiosk island pumps using merchant category codes (MCC) 5541 and 5542, subject to a maximum rebate of RM100 per Cardholder per month.

11. Only purchases made at these outlets using the Debit Card can enjoy the cash rebate. This shall apply notwithstanding any operational fault or anything else preventing the Cardholder using the Debit Card. SCBMB will not be responsible for the Cardholder being unable to enjoy the rebate as a result of the foregoing.

12. This promotion is only applicable to customers who sign up for e$aver account within the promotion period.

I also a PBVE user...its a good card not bad for me.
For the petrol...it must have at least 150 inside or above only can add.If for the other retail purchasing or payment just depend on your credit inside enough or not only.
For the 1st page...there said it cannot use for online booking genting room by debit card...Why not?I am alrdy use it for many times...So it is definitely work! But it also like petrol at least need 150 credit or above will better.Beside the genting online reservation..other hotel booking also no problem!
I only dont like the withdrawal only...its need to charge rm10 per transaction when taking from other bank atm...sometimes hard to find PBB atm.

Now i am interested with Stantard Chartered master debit card because have 7% rebate for petrol...anyone are alrdy use it?and any comment for it?

nono...that at least rm150 transaction is only for online transaction like genting online booking and for petrol adding only.
for the other retails purchasing or payment only depends how much the bill and how much the credit inside is it enough or not.Trust me...PBVE really not bad 1...is a good choice coz the atm branch was many.
stantard chartered DC got 7% rebate...so i am looking for that now.

No, i meant the debit card and the real account is in different storage right? I don't think that's the way to reload some cash with it, I've heard some guide in google stated that you must reload at atm machine then hit the button credit or something, hmmm, someone care to enlighten me? Thanks heaps! icon_rolleyes.gif
