Is it they hold on RM 200 for those use PB day2day debit card? By the way, solarwing, the minimum balance you need to keep in your Public Bank savings account is RM1 only at the time This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 18 2009, 09:40 AM |

QUOTE(saw2001 @ Sep 19 2009, 11:23 AM) err . public bank debit card not mend for 18 below? You are eligible for it as long as you are at least 12-year-old. But if you are under 18 you will need your mom or dad to sign some forms as a guarantor. |

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Sep 29 2009, 03:24 PM) type A debit card comes with a savings accounts and costs RM24 per year unless you spend RM1000. card takes about 3 - 4 weeks to process I think you have mixed up type A and type B. Type A is called VISA Electron and it doesn't come with a savings account while Type B is called Day2Day VISA Debit and you must a savings account with Public Bank in order to be eligible for Day2Day VISA Debit. I have used Type A before and currently using Type B. I personally prefer Type B because the card can be issued right away. Less hassle this way and you will get your card pin number straight.type B debit comes without a savings accounts and costs RM12 per year. card can be issued immediately I was wondering if Public Bank will ever reduce the annual for Public Bank Day2Day VISA Debit because RM12 is a bit high for me This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 29 2009, 04:53 PM |

QUOTE(nanakopy87 @ Sep 29 2009, 04:45 PM) ya.i think they should reduce it to RM8 since most of the bank charge only RM8 for annual fee And i also think Public Bank should just do away their regular ATM card (the one that is only supported at MEPS ATM). While Public Bank will now issue the Day2Day VISA Debit cards to all their new customers, we can actually still choose if we want the regular ATM card at RM8/pa or Day2Day VISA Debit at RM12/pa. I also hope Public Bank will seriously reconsider the design of the Day2Day VISA Debit Card. I mean the card design is only suitable for teens and young adults. Imagine our 50-year-old mother/father pull out the card from their wallet, that is just weird ![]() |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Sep 29 2009, 11:13 PM) Yeah, Day2Day VISA Debit card is not very suitable for older generations. Totally agree with you. It is so not appropriate Maybe they won't be applying for this card in the first place because of the design. |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Sep 30 2009, 02:55 AM) I tried to pay AirAsia ticket today, (just trying with being the money in my card is smaller than the amount to be paid), they'll decline the transaction instantly ya? Yes. It will be declined right away.QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Sep 30 2009, 02:55 AM) Which one is better? Getting the monthly physical statement or by online? I personally did not subscribe for the monthly printed statement. I believe they will charge you RM2 or RM5 a month if you request for it. Actually observing your debit card transaction online is enough. No need for a printed statement. |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Sep 30 2009, 03:48 AM) So, how am I suppose to get an online statement? You need to subscribe to Public Bank online banking. For Public Bank VISA Electron user, you need to manually register or add that account to your existing online banking account at any Public Bank branch. As for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card user, you can register for your online banking account via the ATM. If you are not sure how to do it over the ATM, then it is better that you just walk into their branch so someone could help you QUOTE(nanakopy87 @ Sep 30 2009, 08:58 AM) they do charge for monthly statement? you mean PBVE? No. I mean for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. For Public Bank VISA Electron, a printed statement will be mailed to you every month free of charge. QUOTE(nanakopy87 @ Sep 30 2009, 08:58 AM) lol..i tried to use it to buy stuff in yesasia-that time,i ordered something, and confirm the payment also.but they don't have stock,so they refund to me and its in authorized payment something like that and that time my account left, lets say RM100 and the authorized payment is RM150. Yeah. It works just like a credit card. The difference is that with credit card you are using the bank's money whereas you are using your own money with debit card. All credit cards come with a credit line. Let say my CIMB Bank Gold Mastercard has RM10,000 of credit line, the maximum i can spend on the card is RM10,000 only. Once you have used 80% of your credit line (RM8,000) and you want to use it to pay for something that is RM3,000, the payment will be declined because you do not have sufficient credit line.the next order i order from yesasia is RM120.i need to wait the bank to refund back into my account only i can use it... T_T so,you can't 'cheat' as they can check if you have sufficient balance or not This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 30 2009, 10:09 AM |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Oct 1 2009, 10:25 PM) I see.. Just follow the guide at PB's site, get the pin at the ATM right? For PBB Day2Day VISA Debit you can apply it via ATM. As for PBB VISA Electron, you need to walk into any PBB branch to get their staff to apply for e-banking for you.I think am going to apply for online statement because every time I did a transaction, I would love to see the balance inside my card. |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Oct 1 2009, 10:54 PM) Oh, another thing to ask. Is it normal that after a day of doing an international transaction, when you check the card at ATM it shows the amount to be paid to that merchant, and your money hasn't been deducted yet? How many days it take to be cleared? Yes. That's normal. Just like when we swipe our credit cards, the amount charged to the credit card won't appear in our online statement until a few days later. It usually takes 2 - 3 working days. |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Oct 2 2009, 01:31 AM) Thank you.. =) Since you are using credit card too, do you ever think or afraid to do the transaction? Well, i started using credit card since February last year. Have done many purchase online using my credit card. So far no problem. I mean, the card number is stolen by others. Is this possible? Even though the transaction's doen at a secure https, I still have the feeling oh It is very easy for one to steal your credit card number. In all the receipts kept by the merchants, they have all your credit card/debit card number printed out on the slip. But don't have to worry too much lah |

QUOTE(tiger63 @ Oct 4 2009, 02:35 PM) Heard from a very reliable source that Maybank will soon introduce a new Debit Card. No details though. Yet another new debit card ? That's cool if true. I'm about to close my Maybank savings account as my mom has canceled her AMEX. I do not need a Maybank account for the moment as the nearest bank to my home is Public Bank. Hopefully i'll get the new one should i decide to reopen a new savings account with them next time. And no, i will not give them back my Maybank Cherry VISA debit card when i go to close my savings account with them in November This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Oct 4 2009, 03:51 PM |

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Oct 4 2009, 03:52 PM) I don't think there is other debit card that link your saving account together. There are many in the market actually. As a matter of fact, Maybank wasn't the first bank to introduce a debit card that links to your bank account(s).These are the banks that offer either VISA debit card or debit Mastercard that is linked to your account(s) with the respective bank. - Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card - Standard Chartered e$aver debit Mastercard - Standard Chartered saadiq-$aver debit Mastercard - Citibank VISA debit card - UOB Bank debit Mastercard - EON Bank Combi debit Mastercard - RHB Bank Cash Connect debit Mastercard |

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Oct 5 2009, 11:25 AM) Very scared la.. Once, my friend' account saving has been stolen. RM2000+ is gone. She lodged a report, but the bank still can't settle. Yeah. That's probably the downside of using a debit card because with credit card, its credit cardholder has a limited liability of only RM250.I'm going to stick with my debit card. I use what I put inside only. |

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Oct 6 2009, 02:34 PM) this is one question that i have regarding the VISA debit that doesn't come with a savings account... if you don't need a savings account for your debit card, how is it a debit card? you would basically be buying items on credit would you not? As Nanakopy87 said, it is sort of like a prepaid card. QUOTE(lostasylum @ Oct 6 2009, 02:34 PM) and also, how come charges for non-savings account debit card is cheaper than the one with the savings account? i thought it was the other way round? Huh ? The PBB VISA Electron annual fee is actually more expensive than PBB Day2Day VISA Debit. See below :and until now also i haven't received anything from public bank... so long... PBB VISA Electron - No PBB savings/current account needed - Need to wait 2 - 4 weeks to get the card - Yellow color - RM24/pa** (annual fee will be automatically waived provided you have spent at least RM1000 in a calender year) - 0.5% rebate on all purchase - Need to maintain at least RM25 in your account at all times PBB Day2Day VISA Debit - Must have a savings/current account with PBB - Card will be issued to you right away when you open an account with PBB - White color - RM12/pa - 0.8% cash back on petrol and groceries. 0.3% cash back on all other purchases. - For those on Plus savings account, you need to maintain only RM1 in your account at all times.
