Can I ask the Sifu's here --> Does the Astro-attached Disney+Hotstar logins support 4K (or is just HD) on compatible 4K devices/ 4K TV's?

How about the Astro-attached HBO Go (does it have 4K content)?

Also will we get the IMAX Enhanced MCU titles like the OG Disney+?

IMAX Enhanced on Disney+ with MCU titles
*
For Disney+Hotstar, it support 4K on android 4K TVs only if the content you are watching have 4K.

Astro tech people came to fix... there were many similar case reported so my case is not issolated. They have tried changing decoder but it doesn't work and hard reset didn't help too... Today alone they have encountered 4 cases which the same guy is attending similar to mine and all are related to the latest SW push with netflix in it...
They will escalate back to Astro team with this, expecting more people to face similar issue ....

So if you are facing the same thing, contact the Astro folks so that they will put some urgency into fixing it.

So in the end, did they fix it by changing a new decoder for you hmm.gif
Or they just come and check and then didn't resolve your problem?

Currently on a super Pack plus 3 with multiroom. Monthly charges inclusive of SST is 209.24

user posted image

If I were to select platinum pack. Monthly charges will be RM259.68 inclusive of SST. There is an increase of 50.44, in this case, it will be better that I remain in my current package and subscribe to netflix RM45++ on my own.

Did I miss out any other channels that is in platinum pack but not in the legacy super pack plus 3? Why platinum pack is even more pricey than my current package?

The last few person before me with the same issue .. they tried changing the decoder... not working... and they ran out of new decoder.
I swap with another decoder in the room.. the decoder is working fine with other TV... just this TV its not working...

I do believe its related to the HDCP support of the TV,,, what i suspect is the HDCP Was not turned on previously before the updates thats why it was working fine.
*
Just curious, what is the model of your TV, does it support HDCP2.2?
Ya... possible that Astro force its decoder to use HDCP2.2 for all channels including the HD channel hmm.gif previously this is only set for UHD channel

It is normal message that you see loss of signal due to rain. Then it prompt you if you want to switch to Internet.

What I observe is that after switching to Internet and continue watching, it will come to an end of recording like around 30 min and prompt you to switch back to satellite. I was wondering if this is the limitation of satellite with broadband back-up.

It is hard to come by with incident unless the heavy rain interrupt the signal.
*
The prompt happen when the EPG signal the end of the program. So it depends on the accuracy of the EPG and also the length of the program.

So technically, those who paid less for those “technical/installation fees” are losing more than just SOME channel. Pretty dumb for them to tag certain customer under different plans when we are using the same decoder.

Update: managed to connect using satellite (albeit with a bit of difficulty, had to play around with the transponder settings) but weirdly enough the only channel I’m able to watch now is sport (including the 4k channel) and local channels, but I’m getting the error “Subscription Required” for channels that are supposedly free like axn and warner tv.
*
hmm.gif So if plug and play subscriber switch to satellite mode, you will not be able to access free channels? I understand the other way around that certain channel is not available in streaming mode but I didn't know that there is also channel not available in satellite mode? Or is this just a limitation on Plug and Play subscriber?

From my experience as satellite mode user, if I disconnect my antenna, I still can watch most of the channel (except for NHK), just that it required additional remote button pressing every time from channel to channel, program to program switching.

You are missing the point, I'm not arguing about plug and play users not being able to watch certain channels and I understand the rights for streaming. The issue is that, if you first subscribe to satellite mode, you can still watch it as a plug and play device even after you disconnect your cable, but it might not be possible if you subscribe to plug and play and want to use satellite in the future.
But I'm unable to access certain channel when I change to satellite mode. Is that a known issue for plug and play subscribers?
Exactly my point, not sure why Astro is "tagging" plug and play users differently. Like what if we want to use satellite instead? I have not used it for more than a month but streaming on channel 780 via wifi has been somewhat fair/poor experience for me (it stutters every now and then)
*
Hopefully other plug and play user can verified if switch mode to satellite mode, free channel is then unaccessible.

As for the 4k streaming, you mentioned that you used wifi. 4K streaming required higher bandwidth so it maybe more of an issue on your network. Your connection is at least 100Mbps? Have you try LAN connection instead of wifi? Have you run a connection test on the ultrabox? What is your connection speed? hmm.gif

For me, I occasionally experiences "black screen no audio" issue after pressing power button on Astro remote control to wake up from standby mode.

The front panel of Ultra Box, it does shows pink light indicator.
When I press power button on Astro remote now, by right it should go to standby mode, right? But mine isn't.
The front panel still showing pink light indicator, and it does blink when I press power button or any buttons on remote, and it still remains as pink colour. It doesn't change to orange light (indicating standby mode) like how it suppose to be.

When this happens, I'll just unplug the power, wait for few seconds, then plug it back on, then issue solved.
Of course, this issue will come back, probably in the next coming weeks or months.

Haha... experienced this also... The same golden rules is a restart.... just like any modern machine we use... tongue.gif

If you follow @NimalKumar link to the Astro STB Clear NVRAM procedure... you'll notice it slightly deviates from normal in a sense that it asks if you want to

1) Initiate Linux DOWNLOAD          *(The default option to reset ASTRO STB to factory)
2) Initiate Android TV Download    *(Who wants to dare test this feature? smile.gif)
This is AFTER the NVRAM CLEAR procedure. And even then after that there's also 1-2 extra steps missing in the documenttation that edit the configuration after the installation... so Maybe not total brick.. but enough that any deviation is risky from my perspective. But like you said there's something in the ROM somewhere for a factory OS refresh...

And the fact that this bootloader also lists options for MANUAL Downloads/tuning ...  hmm.gif  hmm.gif  ... looks like a potential back door for some hacking.....

*(The original link from @NimalKumar ... https://support.astro.com.my/question/refre...20turn%20blank)
*
Hmm... Not really that difficult if follow the link, just press the remote accordingly when the step that match the instruction appears.
Anyway, they just put it there for those who want to try and do it now and then.
If can't resolve, there is always the Astro hotline to ask for help... but will have to wait for ages before some technician is send to help solve your issue.

I did restore but choose satellite mode. What is Plug and Play mode?

Update: Tried Plug & play mode. I can watch channel 780. But from time to time the center red circle comes up, maybe buffering even though video is still playing.
*
Another way to check if you can play 4k streams smoothly is to open some of the 4k movies from the library. Is the red buffering circle appears? If yes, have you try connecting through LAN instead of wifi?

These premium external devices have superior algorithm to do the job.
Back to ultra box. Leaving the resolution setting to Auto when connected to 4k tv will forced all channels (other than UHD channel 780) upscale to 2160p by the box. Since most channels are either SD or HD (I suppose 1080i instead of 1080p), theoretically would it be better set the resolution to 1080i in ultra box? It will then only upscale SD channel and downscale only one UHD channel to 1080i. At least in this setting tv scaler will have something to do to upscale 1080i to 4k.
*
Hmm.. just my opinion, TV up scaling is just one of the many features of the TV. It does not means that if no up scaling is needed source from hdmi matches TV optimal size, then the TV will not enhanced the picture at all. On most of the latest TV, the TV will also further improve the picture quality as well as do better motion for fast moving picture.

Finally, can use Hotstar app on Ultrabox. Only problem is I can't seem to enable subtitles using the Astro remote.

just use the left right, top down button to select the gears icon on the top right side.
If the show support it, the settings will open and you can select language and also subtitle.

Recorded a couple of shows thru Astro Go as well as on my Ultra box. Can see them on the My Library listing, but cannot play.
*
Hmm... i think you mean "Bookmark", Ultra box does not have any record anymore. Basically everytime you play a movie, it is stream to your set top box. or devices.

Hmm... hmm.gif what is the message shown when it cannot play?
The reason I can think of is maybe the movie is taken of their content library and no longer accessible.
Or maybe you package does not include the say channel thus not able to access the content despite able to search in the content library.

Advertisement is not a new thing. Even Netflix is also adding ads
https://time.com/6175837/netflix-ads-coming/

But the question is that ads-ed services is cheaper compare to the non-ads service for Netflix.
Can astro offered cheaper subscription if they add ads? laugh.gif Apparently NO and that is the issue vmad.gif
