QUOTE(james2306 @ Jun 9 2023, 06:41 PM) Hello all, Won't be any difference between Astro Go and Sooka, since they are basically serving the stream from the same source. So currently 2 users in my house separately have Sooka sports package sub, rm34.90 x2. Used on phones, tablets. Im thinking of getting the Astro rm99 sports package, that gives 2 concurrent screen usage of AstroGo right? How is AstroGo's live sports for Football/F1 compared to Sooka? My thinking is now paying rm70 ish for 2 ppl, might aswell topup rm30 more then can actually be able to watch on 2 phones and 1 tv if needed at the same time. Truth be told, the TV in my living room rarely being used for the past 3-4 years. Want to make use of it more too. Thoughts? Primary function to watch Sports. |

QUOTE(imceobichi @ Jun 13 2023, 12:11 PM) Received my ulti box last week Placebo. I have 3 astro boxes currently. The PVR, Zapper and Ulti. Ulti outputs the best image if you are using satellite dishNoticed the resolution of 1080p from ulti box on few channels eg. 311 is worse than the old PVR decoder. Is it a placebo effect or the new ulti box output resolution is worse? imceobichi liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jun 12 2023, 11:03 PM) SPOTV: Video defects are inherent from source. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. I just noticed your post about this![]() Pixelation or sudden video/audio loss in live broadcasts is common, especially when the broadcast cameras are on mobile due to signal degradation, just like this cycling competition event. Imagine at the shooting venue, the cameraman is moving at fast speeds on a car/motorcycle/helicopter, with the camera transmitting the video footage wirelessly to their receiver, the wireless signal can be blocked or affected by the surrounding trees, hills or buildings, hence resulting temporary pixelation or video/audio loss for that particular scene, which can be seen by all viewers at home. The video switcher operator (person who changes camera scenes/angles in real-time) will need to quickly change to other camera scenes/angles. And I think SPOTV is very thoughtful for putting up a crawler to remind viewers that whatever sudden video/audio loss they see, is not a technical issue coming from the channel operator, and I think it will be a good idea that Astro would do such practice too. Kudos to SPOTV I have a different view. It's annoying. If you follow the sports religiously, you WILL know that live feed will have issues. So whenever something small happen and this ticker appears, it's infuriating, especially when watching MotoGP. Yes, I know the feed is not perfect, but that ticker is obscuring stuffs that I want to see. So I rather have what Bein and Astro does. Only rely on ticker messages like this when a MAJOR issue appears, such as when there is a loss of audio feed, or the feed is lost altogether. Not whenever something small happens |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jun 17 2023, 05:34 PM) I agree with you on the part about crawler message appears when there's major feed issue. I know your point. But SPOTV took a while after the fact that some "pixelations" or "feed loss" before that ticker appears. So when that ticker appears, most of the time there are no more issues. and the issues are usually less than a second. So it's more annoying than helpful. But as for minor issue like brief pixelation or audio/video blackout, some viewers may not aware that the "Video defects" they see are actually "not viewer's fault", and they may put the blame on pay TV operator, and in return, the customer service of the pay TV operator will put the blame back to the viewer, saying that there's something wrong somewhere with either your set-top-box, or satellite dish, or something else. As a result, this would create bad customer experience. Got Inform is better than no inform at all. Either way, nobody likes "video defects" no matter how big or small. And as I said, if you watch that sport, you would usually be well informed with how that feed behaves most of the time. What Astro usually do is actually similar to how Pay TV would do in other countries like US or Europe. It's better to NOT obscure sports coverage unless they really really have to. |

QUOTE(doubleM2 @ Jun 21 2023, 09:11 PM) Here you go. I can only find Malay and Chinese subs for now. No English Subs. ![]() ![]() Source: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CttbGwNPtuP/ Bear in mind that Chinese/English/Malay subtitles, as well as the channel operator, are provided solely by TVBI. Astro is only airing the channel as its broadcast partner. Also checking the Astro Content site, I still can't find a single Japanese show for TVB Magic. There is one Thai show, two Korean ones and others are from TVB. chuppachop liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jun 26 2023, 10:20 PM) I think not all shows there has that "Indonesian" subtitles issue. Yeah. Only alphabets appears. IIRC for percentage (%), it was replaced with a capital H instead. If you didn't understand the original language, you would be highly confused with the subAlso, I notice the Malay subs does not have punctuations... Because there's no comma and full stops on a sentence, I see some netizens make noise that the subtitle is making it difficult to read, like don't know where's the start and end of the sentence/dialogue. Numbers is an issue too. For example, when the dialogue/subtitles supposed to be "2.8 juta", but TVB Magic's Malay subtitles are showing it as "2 8 juta" without the dot. Literally "2<space>8<space>juta" juta = million |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jul 3 2023, 10:54 PM) Personally, when watching a same HD channel via satellite, I'm seeing the same exact picture quality between HD/PVR box versus the Ulti/Ultra Box Same here. I still have the old Byond and Zapper box, and I'd say they don't look different. Hard to do side by side tho since I have only one TV. Need someone really rich to do that 🤣 |

QUOTE(izwanikhsan @ Jul 5 2023, 06:53 PM) Eleven Sports and even EDGE Sports are tanking hard. Which leaves us with SPOTV & BeIN Sports only as international sport broadcasters. Others are all in house - Supersports/ Arena. For sports, Streaming service don't work well in this region, no matter what people in this thread tries to convince otherwise. People rather pay to get everything on one platform, or just pirate it. When it becomes too fractured, the ease of use is not there anymore and it becomes much more expensive to mantain every setvice you wanr to use |

QUOTE(hizadzahid @ Jul 8 2023, 02:00 PM) Need Help. My Astro smart TV is now not compatible to my Skyworth AndroidTv. It was fine before. Anyone faces similar problem and how ro rectify it. Calling CS no help either. Anyone has a working apk. Thanks Topkek why you call CS when Astro themselves have limited the usage of the app to only selected Sharp/Sony/Samsung/LG TVs? |
