QUOTE(weareblahs @ Oct 18 2021, 11:01 AM) Better not be forced subscription with movies pack, or else... (you know what will happen next) Anyways, I think Netflix can be a separate pack on Astro as some subscribers are willing to pay Netflix and Astro under one bill. (And also, there's an unofficial way to pay Netflix under your phone bill through Google Play before) QUOTE(smileguy @ Oct 18 2021, 01:49 PM) astro wl not bring anything without profits,I guess it wl be another disney hotstar alike Looks like not a forced subscription

QUOTE(joshhd @ Dec 1 2021, 11:22 PM) Astro debuts region’s first TV addressable advertising using Synamedia Iris1 December 2021 https://corporate.astro.com.my/mediaroom-re...-synamedia-irisYou hate advertisements? Well, Astro will make you hate it even more. Very nice. So I assume that we all will be forced to watch unskippable advertisements when playing selected On Demand content on our Astro boxes, starting next year. Soon, Astro will become the next free version of YouTube. Thank you, Synamedia Iris, what an innovative revolutionary state-of-the-art invention you've brought to Astro I'm very sure all the advertisers would love to hear this Personalized ads on Astro

QUOTE(izwanikhsan @ Dec 2 2021, 10:16 AM) Astro will become the next Youtube? Grossly wrong because for Youtube, if we pay monthly subscription, we don't have to deal with annoying ads. For Astro, despite paying monthly bills, we are still subject to unskippable ads. Also increased price with the new packages

QUOTE(John Chaser @ Dec 2 2021, 08:24 AM) So if you watch alot skinemax movies, you'll get alot skinemax ads? QUOTE As it set its sights on becoming an addressable advertising powerhouse, Astro looked for technology that would make it easy to build a new revenue stream. Available as a service (SaaS), Synamedia Iris provides a single environment for managing, delivering and measuring advertising consistently on all devices, services and screens. Importantly, it allows Astro to offer addressable advertising across its entire subscriber base including set-top boxes with one-way connectivity.
Addressable advertising will be available on the Astro GO streaming service in late 2021, followed by linear TV progressively on all set-top boxes through 2022. Seems like it

QUOTE(weareblahs @ Dec 7 2021, 11:16 PM) I think "resolution hopping" is a common issue on Ultra Box. That occured to me before. Also hope that they will add force resolution option to connected boxes. Hmm, that seems to happen as of late, when I first got the ultra box in sept 2020 the pixelation didn’t happen

QUOTE(weareblahs @ Mar 16 2022, 02:09 PM) Back on around June-July 2020, Astro made a beta app (RM1/month if I remember) that allows you to watch Astro through Android TV devices. About the LG TV one: either they accidentally put it on public, or they accidentally relisted their old, discontinued Astro GO TV App on the LG app store. The login interface is you shown here is similar to that RM1 Astro TV app beta that I mentioned before. Try your luck on logging in - I tried once with my Astro ID and it failed. Edit: add link for those who interested: https://www.lowyat.net/2020/215871/astro-tv...eta-android-tv/Edit 2: The link displayed on the screen which redirects to https://stv.astrogo.astro.com.my/ is still not down after the beta. Maybe they're trying to get back to Smart TV? Looks like it’s up on LG Webos store for closed beta testing The screenshot looks like the Ultra box/Ulti box Ui https://my.lgappstv.com/main/tvapp/detail?a...de=&sellrUsrNo=This post has been edited by yongtjunkit: Mar 16 2022, 06:57 PM

QUOTE(brandonkl @ Apr 28 2022, 09:43 AM) Hotstar activated today in Ultra Box? I am out of town. So, don't know about my Ultra Box at home QUOTE(smileguy @ Apr 28 2022, 10:50 AM) Nope, nothing still Coming Soon as at 9am just now,but there was news its up now an hour ago!! Logged in to hotstar on the ultra box, looks like the ultra box version doesn’t support 4K HDR (I didn’t see the 4K HDR icon on titles that have 4K HDR)? Also the UI looks blurrier than the LG webos version

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jul 22 2022, 12:14 AM) I think very likely yes... I don't think refusing a software update for your Astro PVR box is even a choice after all... You can run, but you can't hide. Sooner or later, somehow everyone will still get their new software, whether you like it not Does the decoder require a software update to receive broadcast from Measat 3d? https://soyacincau.com/2022/07/22/measat-3d...ad-of-schedule/This post has been edited by yongtjunkit: Jul 22 2022, 06:59 PM

QUOTE(Zot @ Aug 25 2022, 10:06 AM) No need to be complicated. Once ON go straight to last viewed channel on default setting. Go to menu if you want to change profile. That’s gonna ruin the recommendation for those who want to use it It would be better if you don’t want profile don’t create one and have it use the default profile (like in windows - user accounts)

QUOTE(Zot @ Aug 25 2022, 10:42 AM) Why ruined? They can change profile anytime they want. Just go to menu button just like when you want to go to Library. It is just not forcing to choose profile each time you power on. I was thinking like each person with own profile once switch will have their own library on series he followed. This is very convenience. Not everyone who want to navigate to the settings page to change profiles People would rather just use the default profile if that’s the case hence ruining the recommendation (look at how many button presses is needed to go to the settings) It’s like you want windows to log you in to your user account by default for everyone that is using the computer and give them full access to your everything including personal files, browsing history and expect people to select log off and then log into their user account It would be better if there’s only 1 profile just automatically auto select the 1 profile for the ultra/ulti box, only prompt when there’s multiple profile This post has been edited by yongtjunkit: Aug 25 2022, 11:07 AM

QUOTE(joshhd @ Sep 5 2022, 08:59 PM) VOD content? Pixelation? How does that "pixelation" look like? Is it like "scratches CD, poor satellite signal" kind of pixelation? Or "low video bitrate" kind of pixelation? Got picture? Poor satellite signal kind of pixelation Currently don’t have a picture of it at the moment

QUOTE(joshhd @ Sep 5 2022, 09:14 PM) Which show and episode is it? Elapsed time? I'm interested to see if this issue is just you, or it's affecting everyone... Don't get me wrong. Cuz "pixelation" on VOD content sounds very rare to me, so I'm curious to see how it looks like... Resident evil: afterlife The early intro part around 1+ mins Someone already posted a picture about it (even though it’s a different VOD content) - post #14062 This post has been edited by yongtjunkit: Sep 6 2022, 06:54 AM

QUOTE(cdspins @ Dec 3 2022, 08:51 AM) Do you need any service from Astro to help with your relocation? If no need... then just signed in at the astro account online and change address. The destination house already have a satellite dish with universal LNB(not meant for PVR box)
